We bought a 2019 atlas SE with technology and pano sunroof. Love the car and has only been to the dealership once for oil change. Nice ride and love the aggressive look. First VW after driving a Pilot for so long. Glad we chose the Atlas since it stands out on the road compared to other suv in its class.

This is my dream "mom" car. I used to work at CarMax and would always want to drive the Atlas when possible. I personally think it is one of the best cars when driven and it's a nice looking car.

Also thank you for this video, it was very well done. Nice review and the different angles of you driving as well as showing the features really helped.

We used to think the same thing about the v8 Touareg until it started getting issues after the warranty ended and it only had 32000 miles, water pump, A/C compressor, major issue with ignition it would turn off running, AWD axles started leaking and list goes on

Great video. We are very happy with our 2018 Atlas SE. It is very reliable and still has one of the best bumper to bumper warranties. We have put 35k miles on it with commuting and also a couple of long distance trips. It is a very relaxing and comfortable ride even when fully loaded with our three kids plus gear and rooftop box. Our lease is up in 2 years and we plan to get a new Atlas again. Gas mileage is the only area it could be improved.
@edb.83884 жыл бұрын
Great review, keep doing what you do man! The Atlas was on the top of my list for a time. However, the poor reliability and gas mileage killed the dream for me. During a test drive 5 months ago there was a least 5 active recalls on the Atlas and the salesmen said to me that it's a good thing because Volkswagon will address them quicker then general issues. Hmmm, that didn't leave me feeling any better. I'm a fan of German engineering but maintenance is costly. We have an Audi and once audi care expires, we're turning the A4 back in. Too bad, because there's a lot to love - but love costs when you deal with Audi and VW.

I'm 6"5 so my only option was the atlas. The warranty covers any problems concerning reliability. It feels so spacious compared to the Palisade and the Telluride. The Pilot and the highlander I could not squeeze in. I'm excited about the fact I can actually use the 3rd row! Happy customer so far.

Amanda Roberson the VW atlas has zero craftsmanship, it’s made of cheap plasticy material. And once it hits 70-80,000 miles it turns into a typical German money pit. I’d stay away. Ps: I drive a 2016 VW Touareg TDI. A completely different car in a different class

July 28th 2020 Purchased the 2021 Atlas SEL, in white with brown seats.. today Dec.6th 2020 my coolant light went on...tomorrow I’ll be calling Teddy Volkswagon in the Bronx.. This was my greatest fear of getting a VW. They are definitely not known for their longevity.. The car does look fantastic, fuel consumption is horrible in city..

Great review, but I'm surprised you didn't review the automatic engine start/stop system. Does it function smoothly and quickly? There is a lot of variation between manufacturers. I think there is a physical disable button for the system, which is a big plus that should also be noted. These start/stop systems should always be part of in-depth car reviews.
@DriversOnly4 жыл бұрын
I did and it was very noticeable when the engine would shut off and turn back on. There is a disable button right under the climate control. I used to talk about these systems but generally they all have some sort of lag.

Did you prefer the V6 or the 2.0 turbo that you had in the cross sport?
@DriversOnly4 жыл бұрын
Both felt very similar in acceleration. V6 didn't feel much quicker and seeing how the 2.0L gets 3 MPG better overall, I would choose the 2.0L T.

The turbo lacks towing power that’s why I went to v6. Turbo can only tow up to 2000 lbs if I am not mistaken. V6 can tow up to 5000 lbs.

VW rebadged the Dodge Carvan to the VW Routan! Why do I see similaities in the VW Atlas and the Dodge Durango Rt? Look at both vehicles from a side profile, and you'll notice again, just like the Caravan and Routan, the Atlas and Durango have both used the same cookie cutter for the overall shape with subtle difference with each brand. VW you can't fool the eagle-eyes of some of us!

Overall a good entry for VW. I hate that vinyl interior. Give cloth or leather and some tan or brown colors. Finally, the only thing stopping me from buying this over Highlander is reliability, otherwise competitive with Hyundai and Kia and others in segment.
