Check this yourself as im not sure but you still can get $7500 tax credit today with volvo but not with Tesla (Tesla already capped out years ago) unless they pass the Biden bill (which is getting dimmer) then everyone gets $8000 for any EV (has to meet EPA standards). Also it will probably cost $2-3k to install a charger for Tesla whilst you can charge the Volvo from any home garage standard outlet (110v in the US). So potentially there is a difference of $10,000 just on these two savings with the purchase of a Volvo vs Tesla. I'm not here to misinform people please do your own research.
@benjaminsmith22873 жыл бұрын
You pay a lot for the electrification. The xc40 has a lot of awards and since this vehicle is an XC40, it's going to be a fine vehicle. I don't care about the range, too much is made of that. I think Volvo needs to work on efficiency to be competitive and right now, their electric vehicle is on the expensive side. Next is the xc90 of next year, and all-new one. That may be close to $100K based on the premium you pay on the XC40.
@AUniqueHandleName4443 жыл бұрын
Their range is pretty bad for a pure electric at around 2.6-2.7 miles per kwh. 3+ is pretty normal nowadays. I'm sure the next generation of this vehicle will do a lot better, and this increase in efficiency will implicity increase range.

Part of that is Tesla releases their full battery pack up front, others save 15-20% so they don’t degrade as fast…. In other words the Tesla could be as low as 260 miles if they held back battery to slow down the drop with age/time…. Tesla is still better than most, but less than one would think because of how they configure the numbers.

It looks like volvo adopted the concept of delivering and "know-feeling" from this car. Not sure it will work with the short range as much as expected. Tesla does feel too cheap and minimalist in the model 3 and Y but the charging and range issues are better addressed. Too much redesign emphasis on things that do not need redesign but rewrite altogether. 400HP really? who uses that? There are so many "old fashioned" design items there that did not work in older models(I'm S90 owners)...The whole car size and build as an off-road car for the city is questionable...The media panel display looks like an off the shelf design or luck of. So much empty space on the panel and the color. As a software developer it seems half baked.
