For those struggling getting the turn indicator back on. Push it back in all the way , then remount it from the inside out and start form the thicker side, you can use a your key to help get it in place.

I just notice after a ride that my left turn signal was hanging down on my 2021 MT07. I got it back in with a little work. I'm trying to see if I make a fix for it so it wouldn't keep happening. It wasn't hit or anything. Just got back from a ride.I just put a couple of wraps of dental floss around the rubber grommet between the hard plastic and the rubber. Now to see if it happens again.

For brakes, there is a huge improvement if you just upgrade the fronts to EBC (or your preferred brand) of sintered brake pads. Just the pads improve the bite significantly, just make sure the front suspension damping is also set for your weight or it isn't as drastic of an improvment! Stock rears can lock up the back tire just fine so no need to change.

I have heard the same about Yamaha's T700 too. Weak brakes from the factory, but easily fixed by swapping the pads.

Im not a fan of tbe industries choice of blinkers. They make them bend so uf you bump into something or drop the bike theres a chance the damage is less but frankly I find they do not last. I will hit a pothole and after a couple years the rubber is dry rotted and they brake. Many of the cruisers have hard mounted blinkers and they have never been a problem for me. I think bendable blinkers probably work more for dual sports frankly and they need to be quick to replace but not falli g oht like you see them doing. I dont like seeing a 12k bike and its blinkers look like they were sourced off amazon from china in a pinch. I just feel like certain components they source are kinda scams. The quality if the lighting has just plummeted and it wasnt even really any good years ago. I just dont want a bike that looks like obbiousnparts were sourced as cheaply as humanly possible. The extra cost to hard mount a blinker will be worth it because if you dont drop the bike it wont wear out and need to be replaced andnoften motorcycles are cancelled redesigned etc etc so yesrs later it csn be hard to aquire the factory part. To me a sign of a good motorcycle is how many kf uts original parts and pieces are stil there in 30 years, and does it look appealing or run down? Did it wear in or out?

Nice update on your bike, I'm looking at one largely for the cruise control. It probably none of my business but it does worry me when i see so many reviewers not having a few fingers on the brake lever. Not just for front trail braking but emergency braking.1 sec reaction delay time makes quite a difference. Your habit seems to be the opposite with fingers on clutch lever then moving to the brake when stopping. Not a criticism just an observation. You and others convinced me with this over the Ducati Monster. Thanks

One of the only things I dislike about this bike is the digital gauges. I know they are taking over and gaining popularity, but I really prefer a big centered analog tach. I am cool with digital speedo and everything else, I just really want a big analog tach.
@censored4christ162 Жыл бұрын
If im going digital the guages need to be cell phone size and shape, and the screen needs to be cell phone quality and resonsivness as well as be similar in its capabilities. Its time these modern motorvycles which do have screens to be advanced as theyre supposed to be, as the rest ofnthe bike already is. A yamaha mt09 sp should hage a screen like a cell phone with all the regular motorcycle guages in it butni gotta be abke to pinch to shrink and expand, move things around, bring up my bluetooth for a 360 security camera like a dashcam. Many cell phones come with expandable storage. These would be nice thing sto have in the bike of the future. Maybe not a classic retro like a w800 or rs900. But in an mt09 or z900? Mt10? It would be nice if my display was up to cell ohone level standards. Thats why u keep saying japan needs to take commercial budget cell phones from japan and modify them becsuse then i csm have google play store, i can set up the clock app and keep track of time, my maps, youl lhabe bluetootj capabikity and ssrvice capability for security cameras, etc etc. It just seems like its the future to me. I just think using a cell phone as a display has its problems like you dont wsnt your bikes guages to have a battery, you want them hardwired into the bike so in 5 years your guage doesnt shut off and never come back from a bad battery. I just think cell phones have the higu quakity durabke screens, theyve already got a lotnof capabilities we want for our modern bikes, maybe japan can work something out where they get a design specifically to be used across a ton of modern bikes. I just think the best palce to find talent for making the motorcycle guage cluster of the future, is clesrly thr cell phone industry. They have the size right already, thengood quality screens. A lot of programming already done, the bluetooth and all that already set up. You can skip a lot of steps modernizing motorcycle guages by going witu a cell phone but knicking off parts you dont need like cameras on the back, a batrery, you dont need thr phome to have speakers. It eont need a power button as it will come on with the bike on its own. So i think the solution is a unique design butnits going to be the bones of a cell phone. I think thats the answer. The mt09sp tft display and mt07 tft displays are nice upgrades but theyre still wau behind where such modern bikes need to be. The reason a cell phone is the bones is because if its 1pm and im in the middle of the desert, i might want to have my bike screen showing the stock graph im investing in one one side and my spedometer on the other so if an hour into mt ride i see the price coming up i can pull over and execute the closing of my investment for a profit 😂

Good review. How is the handling when riding hard? I got a 2022 MT09 SP this spring (2022). I now have 2000 miles on it. I like the bike when riding "normal". But when riding hard, the front end has sooo much wobble. I think the bike just wants to throw me off! I have spent days adjusting and testing the suspension. I have a few settings that are better, but this bike is still awful! Any have an issue like this? Anyone have a steering stabilizer on a 2021+?

Bad cruiser habits Block…. Sport bikes opposite to cruisers, you brake off the front not the rear because the weight distribution is all to the front so would be too easy to lock rear …. Only time to use rear is in parking lots and trailing into turns 😬

Lighter bikes need less torque. Less weight helps everything including braking, handling, and acceleration. Manufacturers usually increase horsepower vs decreasing weight as decreasing weight more expensive

Agree on your cons. Found my one turn signal out of the mount and took a good 5-10min of fighting with it to get the thing back in. Also have trouble with 1st to second. It REALLY likes going into neutral more than 2nd. Have you had any throttle issues? Mine has cut out twice at a red light, electronics on just throttle wouldn't go. Fixed by turning off then back on, but engine light for a bit. Dealer called Yamaha and neither could figure it out, just said to bring it in if keeps doing it. Either way, been sick bike, really need to get new mirrors on mine. Cold weather here is a bummer though, looking forward to spring apready.

To my knowledge there is a failsafe for the quick shifter, if you go past like 10.3k it locks it. I wish I had cruise control on mine but the switches on the base model are so much cleaner and easier to use. I’m surprised you don’t ride it more often. I’ve maybe rode my Softail for a half hour in the past month since buying the MT09. I thought maybe when it gets cold I’ll choose the Softail because I have crash bars with nylon covers to keep cold air off my legs and feet. 40 degrees coming home from work the other night and I was still loving life on the MT. It’s by far the most fun 1500 miles I’ve put on a bike. I’m even enjoying the whoolies, which I didn’t think I would after an accidental one on my old Dyna a few years ago.

I don’t believe you’re attaching the signal properly with that back clip, I have to do it too unfortunately cause I dropped it cause my kickstand wasn’t all the way down when I thought it was 🤦🏻♂️ but put it back on correctly and haven’t had any issues. And I have 1,200 miles on mine Also how the hell do you read the fuel gauge ?? I understand why there’s a mark at 1/2and 1/4 but not 3/4 it’s just weird and what I’m reading so I just make sure to stay topped off Also how does the rokform mount holding your phone upside down ? I ended up getting the same mount cause I saw you recommend it but after about 300 miles of riding with my phone mounted to the bars it destroyed my iPhone X camera stabilizer, so whenever I try to use my camera the camera constantly goes in and out of focus cause the stabilizer is messed up . Also read an article a couple months back that apple says not to use handlebar phone mounts because it can cause that issue of damaging the stabilizer. Would of been nicer to know before I broke it but I’m upgrading to iPhone 13 so not a big deal but definitely will not be mounting my phone again to the bars

Any 600. But be careful. You can find an older 600 that runs and maybe needs cosmetic work for $1000-$3000. Don't get a shiny new bike if your a noob. And get yourself some gear. I have a yzf600r that would be a great beginner bike. For sale in MN :) I'm 6'1" 230lbs. My MT09 is more bike than anyone needs on the streets. Depends which vtwin you compare it to. I have an Aprilia Tuono, and a Honda Superhawk streetfighter. It vibrates more than both through the bars, but it's a higher frequency/higher rpm buzz. Vibrates far less that a Harley or Indian. You will notice a front tire out of balance far more easily though. Mine was almost an ounce out from the factory, bad front end vibe especially at cruise speeds.
