having the same issue with starting on my ‘23 yz250f ME haven’t gotten around to fixing the issue just yet i tried to start the bike in cold weather with the choke and that’s how my issue started for me as well

turns out it was just the battery, ima invest in a trickle charger for long periods of standby time

My son’s 22 wr250f is less than a year old. Last Sunday it we drove an hour to the trails and it wouldn’t start. This was the second time it screwed us. My advice, just buy the KTM.

Check your fuel lines if electric start is working

same issues i tried a plug hoping it was my fix and hoping i didint have to mess with my valves. unfortunately i probably will. bike wont start up with electric crank but once i bump it and let it warm up its rideable, but bogs down at first when i get into the throttle... also is a sign that i think its my vales if anyone has any opinions go ahead and lmk thanks and appreciate it. btw i have a 2019 model.

yeah that is a "fast idle" since the bike is fuel injected, not a true choke. but in practice it kind of is, just isnt called that by yamaha. and it is indeed not supposed to be used and not necessary on my 2019 yz250f except when near freezing temps.

The manual calls it a cold start and says to use it when cold starting.

How far in do you put the plugs tension wise, just put a new plug in and new fuel and the injector and pump kicks in but it just cranks with no start

I screwed mine in all the way in and just snugged it up with a wrench, not to tight just snug if that’s what your wondering. If that doesn’t work I would check your valve clearances and make sure they are in spec if it still won’t start

@@JadensDrip yeah even push starting it runs for 1 sec then dies, hoping it's not a compression issue but I'll have to tear into it on Sunday. But yeah ill also have to check valves :/

@@xBuck mine has the same issue ish it wants to fire up but won’t the fuel pump starts up then dies

Yea that’s what mine did I rolled it up a jump and roll started and it fired up for a second and died when it stopped rolling. If it’s not the spark plug it could just be bad gas, clogged injector, or another type of fuel issue.

@@JadensDrip Do you still have the factory battery in yours, Li ion? Will that charger work for that? I have the same issue with mine now, spark plug is black…

That’s not a choke. It’s a fast idle button and you can do the same thing on the throttle. Just turn the throttle about a 16th of an inch

my bike has aroeund 35 minutes on it,,brand new i bought ,rode around the yard up the street and back,,started in the gargage several times ran perfect,put a new fmf 4.1 complete system ,tryed to start it on the stand for a sound check,wont start ,battery seems kinda weak etc,,put a charger on it ,still wont start ,i havent tryed super hard ,for fear of ruining the stater etc,,i smelled alot gas thought i flooded it ,i wonder if the plug is fouled

Yea same thing happened with mine the battery seamed weak so I charged it and then tried again and it still wouldn’t start so I put a new plug in and it started right away. I hope that fixes your problem!
