Did the race 3 times between 2006 - 2010 in my late 50's, early 60's. First time did a 1:30 on my beater bike with fat tires in running shoes and a tee shirt. Got a bit more serious the next 2 times with a steel frame bianchi and a bit better gear and dropped the time down to 1:15 both times. Figured that was it as I wasn't getting any younger and the only way I was going to do a better time close to an hour was to get serious about interval training uphill and buy a lighter bike and neither of those things were going to happen. Still ride every day and ride up Diablo a few times a year just to keep the memories fresh.

I've climbed mt diablo a couple times but doing this on Sunday morning 🙂 can't wait. Just gonna have some fun and give it what I got. Threw on some tlr pirelli's on my gravel bike. Ready to rock
