✨✨ Anybody else have a kiddo doing hybrid grade level work this year? What are you using for your 1st Graders or Kindergarteners??

🙋🏻♀️I do! Hybrid K/1st grader. She’s using Math-U-See, The Happy Cheetah, and Dash into Reading.

My son has autism with developmental delays so I’ve always done hybrid years because it suits his needs more appropriately. So glad to hear that you do the same! This year he’s in his K-1st hybrid year. For reading we use all about reading level 1 and explode the code. For math we use Masterbooks, it’s so gentle I can’t imagine using anything else. Handwriting we use Zander bloser. For next year we will use all about reading level 2 and continue with explode the code and Masterbooks for math. Newly additions for next year will be: handwriting PAL program with IEW. And All About Spelling. And Lollipop 🍭 Logic workbooks. So excited!

We are in the same boat with my middle. She won't be 6 until end of October, but has been doing Kindergarten since February. She will start first grade around end of January.

Heh, I bought that same TPT grammar set after watching Homeschool of Bel Air. I also have FOMO with Dash Into Reading, but I'm tapped out. I couldn't justify the price when I have so many other reading resources. Deep sigh.

Totally understandable!

I used All About Reading Level 1 as well as the Dash Into Learning readers for my daughter's first grade year. Both were big successes! My daughter loves the readers as they are the exact opposite of Bob books: colorful, interesting, and they tell a full story. We did not use them as a reading program, but rather supplemental books that my daughter would read to her father and me outside of school time. I hope you enjoy them.

That's so nice to hear! That's exactly what I want to do

My daughter loves that she can color the photos in the Dash into Handwriting. And some of the lessons actually ask you to color so it works out great! Weve enjoyed it

Thank you so much for doing this video! Do you have a flip through or review of the zaner bloser Handwriting program as well as the Dash into Reading program? Both of these look so interesting!

I'm seeing this so much- my daughter was also PreK this year but we just did Kinder work. Hybrid Kindergartener/1st grader for this next year as well :) I love seeing what others have decided to do! The Dash into Handwriting looks so cute. I DO wish it was in color, and it seems expensive for what it is. I still think I'm going to go ahead with purchasing it 😬 we're almost done with her kinder one from another company and we might just be a two handwriting books a school year kind of family. It's too bad they don't have cursive for bigger kiddos, my 9 year old would really love another one as well. Excited to see how your year goes ☺
@OdetoAbode2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I have a feeling Dash will release cursive books at some point. You may also wanna look into Zaner-Bloser for affordability (you only need the student book for handwriting), color illustrations, and more grade range

Ooo those Dash into Reading books are gorgeous. We also love AAR and working great but those are sooooo tempting…

Love that others do hybrid years! My third child is a late birthday also so she will be doing PreK/K this year. I literally have a ton of reading programs so I need to chill and figure out what will work for her lol

That's so cute that she was like "I need those" about the reader books. I think having a couple options with early readers is great. My mom has several different series of beginner readers and it's nice to just read different books in those early stages when they're just starting to get the hang of putting sounds together.

My younger daughter will also being doing mostly 1st grade work next year. It’s funny, she also has a fall birthday and would be entering Kindergarten this year if she was in the public school system. I enjoy seeing your curriculum choices! Both my girls enjoyed the Can You Find Me Logic book. We have also used the dimensions K test workbooks. I actually save both girls test books as kind of a record of what they did. Both the girls do it independently so I think it’s a good example of their work.

@@OdetoAbode not yet, she’s at about the same spot your daughter is at. Funny enough she’s at around the same spot your daughter is at for AAR too.
