I'm Kaela, a Homeschool Graduate turned Homeschool Momma of two girls. We are a Latino family, living our best life in a little 1930s fixer-upper in Texas. Honestly, my thoughts are probably the same. I thought it was a super fun addition / break from AAR. It is totally not necessary to do both. AAR is much more comprehensive and Dash just doesn't compete on that front, imo. However the art and stories in Dash are so delightful and fun. I also love their handwriting books, which AAL does not have. Dash also just came out with a spelling program that I am curious about.

Thank you for your video! We are using Dash for our 4-soon-to-be-5-year-old daughter since the beginning of the year as the only curriculum to teach her how to read, and we are now in set 2. She's able to progress and reads blends well so far, but I do feel Dash is lacking instructions and differentiation of the sounds of certain blends, such as long oo and short oo (I don't know the proper term for them! 😅). So, I feel like I need a book or not necessarily a full curriculum that can instruct me on sounding different blend sounds. Do you think just having the All About Reading manual is good enough to add while continuing Dash? Or do I need the student activity book also? Thank you!

I agree with you about Dash. I'm not sure how you could use the AAR teaching guide without the activity book, as they really go hand in hand. I think there are other books that go over the main phonics and diphthongs for English. If you feel comfortable teaching them without a formal curriculum, I'd try to find a different book. The person I would ask is Sarah @homespun.childhood on Instagram. I bet she knows the perfect book for that!

Thanks for this we are using Logic of English and loving it but wanting to slow and behold confidence I think this might be a good supplement for us and seeing you used with all about reading makes it seem more like a good fit

I was able to purchase basically everything on black Friday sale, which was fabulous! I'm still debating whether I want to try it as a stand alone curriculum or as a supplement to the good and the beautiful level k. 🤔 I would love to hear your thoughts after using it, as well as how you organize the activity packs? @@HeatherAnne10 I'm also using it as a supplement, but with All About Reading ☺️ I will try to get a video up soon on how I organize it! It's basically a binder system.
