Great video, Steve! Is there any way to "test" that the wiring harness is actually working without a trailer or boat? I don't want to find out it's not working in a few months when I rent a U-haul trailer and the lights aren't working. Thanks!

Check with a multimeter, it's voltage based. Check the voltage between pins, online sources show which pins are supposed for braking/turning, etc. Good luck.

@ThomasUSofA Жыл бұрын
Hello sir, your video is VERY helpful as I'm considering buying the base 2024 MDX as well and only need 3,500 lbs. of tow capacity (so no ATF cooler needed.) I'd prefer to do this myself and the dealer's charge would be too high in my view anyway. A few questions, as info on the internet for towing with an MDX seems to be scarce. 1. What is the hitch height, to the top of the receiver tube? 2. How well do you find that the MDX tows your boat, and how large/heavy is it? 3. As a more general question, have you been happy with the base trim? Thanks much for making the video!
@SteveChenFishing Жыл бұрын
Hi Thomas, thx for watching. 1. 17 inches 2. Haven’t tried towing yet. Not supposed to tow within the first 600 miles. Planning to tow 2000-3000 lbs with it. I have ATF cooler installed just want to have some safe margin. I wouldn’t tow 3000 lbs without ATF cooler. 3. I’m pretty happy. Just the fuel economy… but you can’t get good fuel economy with a capable towing vehicle anyway. Hope this helps.

Great video. I thought a cable had to be run from the battery back to the wiring harness, but it looks like Acura already did that for us. I was thinking about getting a Curt hitch but I like the way the OEM hitch sits higher up and is covered by that replacement panel.
@SteveChenFishingАй бұрын
yea the higher up position and integrated look was the reason I chose the OEM piece. It makes a difference for launching a boat.

directions were great and everything was going great to the outter planel reinstall. My panel doesnt fit. it doesnt go around the hitch or the plug. Do you have to order a different panel then the factory pane?
@SteveChenFishing5 ай бұрын
Yes a separate part has to be purchased, with pre-cut holes to accommodate the hitch and harness. 08L92-TYA-200B (trailer hitch cover)
Did you torque down the 6 bolts holding the trailer hitch ? If so what is the torque specification.?
@SteveChenFishing10 ай бұрын
According to the instructions: Tighten the six flange bolts to an initial torque of 32 Ib-ft (43 N·m) as shown. Then, tighten the bolts to a final torque of 63 Ib-ft (85 N·m).
