I just recently got pointed to your channel, and Im so glad. Im a newer home brewer and have been trying to make my own recipes. Did 1 kit and it was good but I wanted to make my own versions. I have a similar process as yours except for the fact I dont go nearly so deep and only compare about 10-15 recipes to figure out what I might want to try for my own version. Now you have me thinking even more about going deeper. Im going to be comparing your awesome research with what I have come up with to see where my recipes fall. Thanks for the great videos

I got some Leopold floor malted pale before it became unavailable at Northern Brewer, I’ll be thinking of something tasty to make with it like this..and I have their newer heirlooms like Chevalier, Isaria and Hana, and some nice English malts as well.

I was wondering about the reason you are raising fermentation temp to 70 with 5 points left til FG. Is it more to do with a diacetyl rest, or are you planning on utilizing the yeast still being active for biotransformation of hop oils during your dry hop addition? What are your thoughts on adding the dry hop addition with a larger amount of sugars still yet to be consumed by the yeast? -Maybe at 15 points away from expected FG. And have you seen any of these early dry hopped beers being represented in your data set for APA or IPA? Thank you for any input you could give, hope that all makes sense -I know it's somewhat poorly written.
@MeanBrews Жыл бұрын
I find your success in achieving full attenuation is increased by increasing the temperature at the end of fermentation. I don't think 001 can biotransform but I may be wrong.

There are 3 books from the 80s and 90s that published a ton of winning recipes that I use. I've also been gathering data for 15 years so I've accumulate alot of info. When you hear me say"award winning" and I can't find out where it placed, it's because the website doesn't exist anymore and it was not archived in the way back machine!
Nice. This recipe is extremely similar to one of mine that I brew a lot of. Only difference is use a little cigar in the boil as well. I really like your trending data sheets. Is this a public software or your own? Very interesting.

Hi, thanks for the vid!, I'm in Australia and have Weyermann malts readily available, I have Weyermann Munich 1 on hand to use, or would you recommend Weyermann Munich 2 as the color is a bit closer an equivalent to the Ireks version? Cheers!

Do you think the scales for APA have shifted towards the IPA range because of the advent of Session IPAs and Session Pale Ales?
@MeanBrews3 жыл бұрын
actually I shared this data with a long time Pro brewer at Local Group Brewing here in Houston. his response was, "He needs to use more hops in the lower ABV beers to get matching expression. Likely due to the fact that the alcohol tastes sweeter and may help with hop oil extraction." I think that may sum it up nicely why they're being hopped so highly nowadays.

I would really enjoy these videos more if you delayed releasing them until you have brewed your recipe and can review it! Would love to see you drinking it or even have some guest drinkers on to give their opinions. Could bring your videos from good to great in my opinion.
@MeanBrews3 жыл бұрын
I'd love to do this but thats not what this channel is about. I don't really think I need to share how these recipes taste. I've made most of them and I know how they turn out. There's no doubt in my mind that if you make them you'll be successful competing. The goal of this channel is to help you develop your own recipe to your liking. Do you like it maltier? Well the data will help you to adjust and stay within style. Hoppier? same. I don't really think theres much value in me brewing for the channel and sharing my thoughts on the taste. Brew a recipe for yourself and then tweak to your liking. I'd be much happeier seeing people use the data to make a style exactly to their preference, than to share my view of how the recipe turned out compared to my tastes.
