I think it looks amazing. I always thought quilting should be fun and from the heart. Definitely trust your own instincts 🥰

Love the quilts, Mary. They are absolutely gorgeous. I collect owls so I was anxiously awaiting that one. Choosing colors is the hardest part for me. Sometimes my instincts lead me astray, but I hope I will improve with experience. I am easily overwhelmed by all the beautiful fabrics. 💕

I love owls too! and being overwhelmed by beautiful fabrics is a good sign it means you have Great Tastes! If your concerned that something doesn’t match you can often check the selvage edge for the color guide. Often you will find the prints have many more colors in them then you might have realized and different fabrics will make different colors pop. It’s also a good idea to try complimentary colors like blue with orange etc.

Wow you are so talented. Love both the quilts. I think the fabric you chose for the backing is a perfect frame . It draws your eye into the picture. The owl, oh my goodness you are an inspiration. Love your gift of creating such beautiful quilts.

Hi Mary, I just found your Channel and learned you are from the Fredericksburg area. That is where I also live. Your quilts are beautiful. I wish I knew how to make portrait quilts. Do you teach how to make those quilts ? I would love to learn how to make that type of quilt. I love owls and made some wall hangings. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.

Hi Helen! I apologize for the delay I read your comment when you posted and didn’t have time to respond and then I got caught up moving lol. I love Fred! I’m sitting in the sunshine by the river downtown at Brock’s as we speak lol I am planning on a video series on how I make my portrait quilts so if you want to learn all you have to do is stay tuned! I do also teach classes locally from time to time but I don’t have anything on the books right now. I’m focusing on getting into the new place. I am considering starting private sewing lessons again as well so if you’re local and interested let me know! I love meeting local creative people! We are lucky to live in a town with a great downtown art scene!
