2022 Audi Q5 Premium Plus Review - Walk Around and Test Drive

recently leased a 2022 Audi Q5 45 TFSI. I watched a lot of Audi Q5 vs BMW X3 videos. The reason why I decided to go with Audi for a couple of reasons. The market right now has a lot of Audi Q5 with the premium sound system. Whereas BMW doesn't have the Harmon Kardon sound system available at least in Southern California. BMW probably has better handling and better cabin controls for infotainment and storage. I use the controls on the wheel and use Siri more often. When I do come to a stop, I do interact with the screen and with California traffic you can interact with the screen easily. More importantly, the Audi Q5 2022 and newer contains a MHEV powertrain. The BMW X3 doesn't. However, both models seems to have similar MPGs. The type of sound system isn't usually a deal breaker for everyone but it is for me. Furthermore, I feel I get more bang for the buck with the Audi Q5 45 premium plus. Now if I looked into a performance SUV segment I would choose the BMW X3 M40i because it does have a MHEV powertrain and the SQ5 doesn't regardless of the sound system. These type of cars (luxury brands) you pay to maintain because they are what they are.

It is a good review of the Audi Q5. I ended up buying one. The one I bought does not have a mirror warning system due to the chip shortage. There is any way I can get it for my Q5?

That item in the trunk is not the cargo cover, it's the roof rail crossbars, in which came with my Q5 Premium Plus as standard. The cargo cover is not standard, ironically. The 2022 Q5 is very nice, but I think the first year refreshed 2021 Advanced-Line is a better value. Sure, the 2022 standard S-line looks nice, but not worth the $2,000 price increase in which they now they force on you, and quite frankly, I kind of prefer the advanced line. It has an unmistakable front-end look that cannot be mistaken for a Hyundai (some of their models look similar with the honeycomb single frame grill) and if they are going to add exhaust pipes in the back, I'd rather them be the real deal, than fake ones. Plus, due to the parts shortage, you lose some items on the 2022 too, like the nicer open pore wood grain (they had to go back to the common gloss wood), the wireless charger, power steering column, and even a 2nd key fob, so you are kind of paying more for less. The 2022 is nice, but the 2021 is a much better value if you can still find one, and now they will look more unique, as the vertical bars would only be offered for that one year, while all others after it will share the S-line trim. And with the $2,000 price jump, it loses some of its value edge over its rivals, with there being are so many good choices out there. It is still an excellent crossover, however.

Mine came with a 2nd Key Fob and a power steering column. I think it depends on the build / date on what will be missing.

I want ambient lighting, and puddle lights in the car. Also a digital dash isnt very important but would love

Honestly just get a sq5 it has the same msrp as a q7 and the same legroom as an audi a7 and the same space as a macan. The sq5 0 to 60 is in the 4.4-4.5 second range and it has more space than the q3 by a lot. Honestly if you have the budget go for and sq8 of sq7. They both do a 4 second 0 to 60 and the q7 is a 7 seater. However, the best bang for your money would be a s6 or 3.0t a6 both do a 0 to 60 in around the 4 second range. The 3.0t a6 is 10k cheaper but the s6 has 440 horsepower. The s6 is crazy fast though the 2022 does a 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds which is just insane.

Trust me I got a 2022 q3 and a 2021 q7 they aren't crazy quick but they do a 0 to 60 in 6.6 both of them. I'm telling you a a6 3.0t or s6 is going to be a huge jump. Especially the s6 is just insanely fast with comfort and legroom. You have a family sedan that's basically a sleeper

Just bought audi q5 premium plus 2022 and there is not adaptive cruise control and blind spot detective on it. Dealer listed these in dealer notes and features.

And you didn't research that before you bought it? I find these stories to be bull. Either BMW fanboys or competing dealers. Nobody would complain about car features after you buy a vehicle unless you're too dumb to do your research.

Just seemed like the right words for someone buying such an expensive vehicle, supposedly knowing other vehicles have better options and then complain about that after the fact. It just makes no sense to me. Also if your experience at the dealership was horrible, why didn't you walk away? In this market, I dropped about 3 dealerships that treated me like crap.

just bought ‘22 Q5 Prestige without the electronic adjusting steering wheel, Phone box charger and only one key fob. Audi says a second fob will be sent when the big chip crisis is over. though toenails on the phone charger and electronic steering wheel adjuster. ah well….totally a first world problem. otherwise the car is…splendid.

@@dontworrybehappy9719 I was too dumb to find it until I experienced the magic of KZbin and found a passel of Audi tutorials. one of them had me swipe down on the screen and there..in a tiny box in the upper left is a tiny house with a tiny arrow in it. Hit that and a plethora of eight possibilities appear…you can open the garage..open the community gate…exit that gate…all of it pretty self explanatory as far as actually connecting them. most dealers…at least mine…have an especially designated trained electronics nerd/specialist to walk ya through it if all else fails.

@@budg8522 I saw all those tutorials and I don't have that little house with the tiny arrow....I am quite good with all this technology and I wasn't sure if it was missing in the new 2022. I will reach out to my dealer and ask them why I don't have it in my Q5. I wonder if it is because I have the phone box installed ? Thank you for your reply.

Bought a Q5 coming from New design Volvo XC60. Volvo is nicer. Q5 is boring, sold it from brand new after 6 months and bought the LCI x3. Day and night difference between my Q5. X3 is nicer inside and drives really really good.

I noticed that too. It should be equipped on the Premium Plus as Audi has it as a standard feature for this trim. Got to wonder if we’re beginning to see the effects of parts shortages as I believe last year heated rear seats were available as part of the cold weather package

Yes, the phone box is not included on some vehicles due to pandemic shortages. Same with the power adjustable steering column. I just bought a ‘22 Premium Plus, and while mine did have the power adjustable steering column, the phone box was a delete. Before buying, I did rent a ‘21 Premium Plus from Audi Silvercar this summer that did have the phone box, and I found my self not using it after a while because the phone got so hot.

Live in mountains here. I raced an x3. Either they couldn’t drive even though they challenged me. They couldn’t handle speed or corners. My Audi is a champ. I also have an Audo a3. My first Audi. Fell in love. Drive my sisters BMW X5. Felt awkward. Not at all like the Audi. My little stroll old A3 would out maneuver it. My Q5 feels like a tank compared to basically anything

There a lot off issues with the Q5 ,i bought a 2022 as mentioned a few features are missing ,Key for one thing and the auto steering Column , phone charger box ,i really wanted that feature . The MMI is junk as usual , the car can not connect to Audi and so some of the features will not work, such as setting the key user or several other features that work off your phone such as remote unlock ,car locator and others.

The Front crash mitigation does not work (on my 2022 Audi Q3 with the Premium Plus Package including Pre-sense and Pre-sense Front crash and pedestrian mitigation). It does NOTHING to help you in the event of an upcoming crash! (Yes, I have it activated correctly.) I brought it back to the dealer and they said their "diagnostics" showed that everything was fine. After about 3 hours of arguing with the Salesman, the Service Manager, and the General Manager, their conclusion was that the Pre Sense and Pre Sense Front were only made to warn you and apply the brakes when you are A FEW INCHES away from whatever you are about to hit! The Subaru I traded in warned me at least 2 - 3 car lengths before and applied brakes at least 1 car length before. I set up rows of cheap Styrofoam ice chests in front of the car and tested the car at low speeds and higher speeds and my "warning" was a slight beep AFTER SMASHING THROUGH THE STYROFOAM (and the brakes never activated). Of course the dealer would not let me demonstrate this to them when I went back with the ice chests. I'm selling the POS and buying another Subaru.

Nice story. Sounds like complete bull. what Subaru dealership do you work at? You are selling a brand new vehicle in this economy after not liking one safety feature and buying a price gouged vehicle after you "just" traded it in? How much depreciation you willing to sacrifice? Also, you just happen to have rows of Styrofoam chests hanging around in the month of December? How annoying would it be to be "warned" of a car crash 3 car lengths ahead of you and activates 1 car length? How do you roll up to a stop sign then? The warning would be going off all day. Today, ironically, as I was driving my new Q5 a UPS truck stopped in front of me while I was looking at the mmi. The vehicle locked up way before I would hit the truck as my wife was behind me watching from her car. After we got to the inspection shop I told her the pre-sense worked as advertised as I almost wrecked my new Q5 on the 2nd day owning it if it wasn't there.
