I ran a Jaguar when the 350 Verado first got put on it. That boat would FLY with my 150lb self in it back then. Would probably still run that fast even with me being heavier now. Couldn’t imagine one with the 450

Jim that motor is a smidge pricey, think it's high $50's for one...and some guys run 4-5-6 of them across the tail of those offshore boats

The HP limit doesn’t make any sense to me, I mean if the boat is rated “safe” with a motor then what is the hang up. It used to be 150hp back in the B.A.S.S days, and a “big” boat was 19’. Now it’s 250hp on 20-21 footers. Bigger boats, better stability and big water handling. More horsepower doesn’t necessarily mean you have some advantage in the tournament, the Eyra can run 90 with a 250 with the right driver. A Jon boat with a 25 hp may be able to get to the fish better than all of those boats and win the tournament. It just doesn’t make sense and it needs to go away imo.

I don't think so, there are carriers that cover race boats, it might be a bit more expensive if you tell them it'll run 80 plus, and you might not get state farm or some of the other general lines carriers, but you can get it insured

That looked really impressive! I used to fish out of a 22' Ranger and there is nothing like having all that room up front, especially with a large fishing partner. Of course, way too much tackle lying on the deck.

Ken, I had a 2003 Ranger 522VX and loved it. My only complaint was the President's helicopter would try to land on my front deck when I was fishing on the Potomac river. 😁 Seriously how shallow do you think the Jaguar will float?

total guess, but at cruise I bet you can get somewhere close to 6-7 mpg, so 400'ish miles

When i was young and dumb I was running down Toledo in my Skeeter going about 65, had my shirt off (nobody wants to see that now) and I took a bumble been right in the sternum, he was coming at me at about 25 mph, felt like I'd been shot. I actually saw him coming but with 80-90 mph closing speed and not seeing him till he was right there....no avoiding it, but he paid the ultimate price

@@KenSmithFishing Too funny Ken. :). True story...many years ago, I had a Ranger and was fishing Venice, Louisiana in late summer. Launched the boat and was heading down the Mississippi River at around 45-50 mph. All of the sudden, a redfish, around 12 pounds, jumped out of the water, across my bow from one side of the boat to the other side as I was running towards it. I missed it by inches. It scared the crap out of me. If that thing would have hit me or my windshield at that speed, no telling what would have happened. BTW, your reviews have caused me to purchase my next boat...A Bass Cat Sabre. Don't need a 20 footer. Thank you for the reviews.

All the fishing organizations need to do away with the 250 hp rating limit. They should all go with the max horsepower rating from the factory because a lot of these big boats won't perform with a 250 on them!

I actually replied and I am editing my reply, I was surprised to see this motor is only priced in the low $40's. now you could easily but $15k-$20k electronics on it....so yeah it's more than my first house (in fairness that was $62k in 1982)...what's the old saying if you have to ask you can't afford it...I didn't ask!

I'd be too busy crying in disbelief that I paid twice as much for my boat today as I did a house on an acre of beautiful shady treed land 10 years ago.
