As a package, this is a deeply deeply desirable thing. I really didn't like the first generation, it got better with a face lift, but this generation is simply lovely.

Also the new one is on the MSB platform shared only with the Porsche Panamera, has the PDK and PDCC (arguably the best commercial gearbox and best anti-roll tech). So yes this is basically a Porsche underneath, which is an extremely good thing, because you can add hundreds of kilos of luxury on top of a great platform and still go round a corner more like a car than a boat

No surprise Bentley is beating sales records. These cars are truly incredible. I feel blessed to have driven the new GTC. They are an impressive feat of engineering that's for sure. I was surprised to see that you were less than infatuated with the "Speed". I have to agree, the example I drove had the V8.. It had a great snarl and was more than enough for my needs. One of the older models pulled out on a friend and I when we were riding litre bikes down a bumpy B road. We were about to overtake, but it just powered away and glided over the bumps as if they weren’t there. We couldn’t get close. I’d have hated overtaking it to have it chasing behind us. Proper missile.

That magenta is absolutely stunning with the piano black accents around front end, the piano black grill and trim around the headlights is gorgeous and that magenta really is breathtaking and can not be said enough I personally would like to see a panoramic roof but maybe there is a package with that option. Lovely car for a gentleman

I love Bentley autos; I've owned two of them. Having said that - the front light having moisture in it is about the quality one should expect until you have enough time to work all the kinks out. Brilliant automobile - and that colour is absolutely amazing.

A couple of hours before watching this video I watched a Jay Leno video all about British cars. In that video Jay drives an Aston Martin that is a rather striking orange colour. I think burnt orange would describe it or deep orange. Anyway seeing this car with its rather vibrant colour made me think that these very expensive cars are trying to justify the price tags with extreme colours not found on cars with lower prices. One more thing to make them stand out I suppose. I have to say when I was a boy my grandfather would have taken one look at this car and said “oi must be a puff driving that” lol He wasn’t what you would describe as PC lol

Marmite colour, but I'm glad you mentioned the British quality fit and finishes it's what makes them special to drive and own. I worked at Crewe in the late '60's and owned a Shadow some years back and it's nice to know the quality is still there if a little blingy now for my elderly tastes!! The V8 with a hybrid assist would suit this car really well; the extra weight is effectively irrelevant since you're already starting at 5000lb anyway. That's probably for the next generation though; a hybrid V8 could quite easily outperform the W12 which is why you won't see them on sale next to each other.

The Bentley GT with the V8 differently handles better, but that W12. The reason for the excellent ride is the anti-roll bars decouple when you're driving straight ahead when you enter a turn, the bars couple, and the 48-volt system kicks in and keeps the car flat in a turn.

And they make all the difference. I’ve been in a new Conti vs an old - night & day difference on the same road. The old speed was a bit of a barge in the bends in comparison to the new which was like on was on rails (and that was a non speed model)

I have a Bentley Supersport Convertible 631 bhp with 20 inch wheels. I don't have a problem with the lack of grip on the rear wheels as you do in this latest Bentley. It may well be with introduction of 22 inch wheels the profile of the tyre reduces as the wheel size increases and therefore you've got less rubber to drive on. I can foresee there will be problems with the rear steer wheels..... who needs it especially in today's restrictive driving? I'm not a fan of a dual clutch box .... and the electronic rear limited slip diff ..... I like my ZF 6 speed ... a bullet proof box ... same in my BMW 650 I sport ... and I've done 190k miles in that .... Happy driving !

I don't like black wheels or black trim. It always looks cheap. The colour is OK but a bit too flashy in my opinion to be on a Bentley. Dark green would be my pick probably. There are a lot of extras on it that should be standard.

I think you've got it wrong Harry when you say the all season tyres are "not helping it". If you had summers on on a day like that with low temps you'd be relying much more on the traction control. I recently put all seasons on my car and the difference in these cold damp days is remarkable,

If the DCT's revised for the new W12, the W12 is the much better option. Not much difference between front and rear weight balance (55:45 regardless, at least according to Bentley's own words) and to have 12 cylinders is always better than an 8 despite it being an inferior W configuration.

If you want a more aggressive driving experience, the V8 will be the better choice. The body weight is more average and lighter Look at bentley's V8 in gt3 races, although that V8 engine is from Porsche, it's not the original bentley, but buying it for less doesn't seem like a big loss

Nice review, nice car but tbh i can't see the point of a car like this. It's not sporty in the sense of dynamics, yet it's very fast. But the only place where you can use it is Germany and only when it's not busy on the autobahn (which is hardly ever these days). What remains is stupendous luxury and the exclusivity. But i wouldn't buy one even if i could. Why advertise that you are filthy rich? There are other cars that are very luxurious but will allow you to travel under the radar. You can't do that in a purple Bentley.

A better car is the GTV8, if you get someone that knows what they are doing to remap it. Lighter, not by much but it's all from the front so better weight distribution, more powerful, faster and better fuel consumption/range. The noise through a factory sports exhaust is also epic.

I really like the Continental GT, but I've never been convinced that the W12 Speed is the version to get if you want the best possible Conti GT experience. By my estimation, the V8 is the one to get. Lighter on the nose, still plenty of power, and not pretending to be sporty.

I've talked to a lot of people who have multiple of these GT cars with V8s and W12s. They all prefer the W12. They always say that there's just nothing like the feeling of a 12 cylinder engine beneath your foot.

Lovely car , mad price but you could spend hours cleaning it to showroom spec and then go splash into a small puddle and all the dirty water goes onto the bodywork. Just a small carbon mudflap at the bottom of the sill would solve that problem ,would cost about £6000 though 😁

I bought a 1973 Triumph GT6 Mk3 in Magenta and I loved the colour, though not a lot of people did in the 70's, but seeing this colour on this Bentley in a metallic finish it looks fabulous. As for the car, personally I'd prefer your Project 8 any day.

I've been saying for a while now that you should be able to switch from digital to analogue and have the physical gauges slide in to cover the screen. The Lexus LC500 does the same thing with one gauge and it would match the central infotainment on the Bentley.

I agree with you that there isn't much between the standard Bentley and the Speed, I'd happily take a standard well spec'd W12. That said, the Supersports is a completely different kettle of fish... Thats the review I look forward to. My current V12 is an SL65 AMG... My next will definitely be this or a Ferrari GTC 4. I think the Bentley has the edge on me.

This one is definitely "pimp" spec on the outside, though the inside needs more bling - maybe red leather.

Depends on what type of driving you're doing I guess; I would get the Ferrari GTC 4 because it offers a more dynamic driving experience. However, the Bentley GT definitely beats everything when it comes to "waftability" and comfort. Just a great GT car. I would personally choose the V8 version because of the price jump to the W12, which is crazy!!.. I think your current car (SL65 AMG) offers a driving experience similar to the Bentley's, so choosing the Ferrari makes more sense, just to go for something different.

@@PERF5 the Bentley site still shows the GT (W12) the V8 and the Speed on it. So not sure what you’re referring to?
