I totally agree that the top three Android car launchers are all outdated looking, and they all look alike as well. What I would ultimately love is a cool background abstract pic, with a line carousel of apps to scroll semi-circularly across the middle of the screen in a sort of 3D look, where the edges are closer than the middle. The scroll would be infinite, and you could put a line of needed icons across the top or bottom as you have here. So I can do MOST of this in Nova, except the midscreen 3d line of scrolling apps. So what I might do instead is make only one widget per screen, and make 9-10 screens for all the apps I want on the scroll.

Thanks. I've been using Nova Launcher too. I'm using a 10.1 Samsung Tab A mounted to my dash with 2 magnetic phone mounts! It's great, I can just pull it off and use my tablet at home, then when I leave it just magnetically sticks to my dash with no vibrations! This is the best way I think, especially in an older car like my 2011 Lancer.

@@Efferri Luckily my Lancer has built in Bluetooth! Obviously not the best quality audio since it's a 2011, but it lets me use the wheel controls for changing songs etc. It does the trick.

Yet, trying to setup Nova for my head unit, I am facing an issue with the location of the dock which I am not able to change (right part of the screen, landscape orientation)... I agree with you, it looks so cramped, and what I would like to see is one with a significant information display on music files, like showing the usual song title./. artists./ & album name not even pictures but just text on those three items of information, in almost complete text, although I have to say I'm new to this android lauchers thing, maybe I haven't searched enough, because I only recently got my android head unit, but so, there, those are the ones I notice missing

Yes I have! If you're referring to the auto-rotating version, personally, I prefer the 12.8 because of these reasons: 1) the 12.8in seems alot cleaner in design. On the 13.6in, it seems to have capacitive buttons which I don't need and that makes it look alot more like a tablet. 2) I don't see myself needing it to auto-rotate. 3) It may just be too big for my tiny VW Golf haha! However, it really depends on what car you drive and your preference of it. Whatever you choose, go for the highest spec is my only advise.... good luck!

Thanks! Nope, that's the default app bar that comes specifically with this headunit's system. I'm not able to get that entirely hidden even with Nova Launcher. I can hide it on the homepage but on some apps it will reappear so I decided to keep it. Plus I think it goes well with it :)

Nova actually has a function to remove the top dock, but it's alil glitchy so I decided to keep it on... plus functionality wise it makes more sense too :)

If you turn the panel, the icons look different, in color. It's a shame that you can't have this without turning. That seems to be firmly programmed. Thanks! 1) It has the app called Zlink which I believe supports apple carplay. But I'm an android user so I can't confirm if 100% works but you can try to google about Zlink. 2) So far it looks good and can play hi-def videos 3) RAM upgrade? Ok so your video sells Nova. I understand the trendy look and feel as you mention. However, lol, putting a 9 to 10 inch screen on an old car does make it look trendy too. I like the Torque look, but the other apps already have that look. I only want Speedometer, Temperature, Time and Date displaying. The radio and media player is useful, but having it at the tip of your finger, i.e. switchable is enough for me. Yours looks clean in your own vernacular.
