My ideal cards i carry for the long term - general cash back: WF active cash 2% - groceries: Blue cash preferred 6% (the cash back on groceries will easily more than make up the fee) - gas: coastal credit union signature premier rewards 3x - dining: alternate between freedom flex and Amex propel 3x - travel: Amex propel 3x

How much do you spend on groceries? You're paying $95/yr. to get an extra 3%. You would have to spend almost $3,200 just to break even. So if you spend $300 a month, or $3,600 a year on groceries, you would earn $216 at 6%. Subtract $95 equals $121. At 3% you earn $108. Not much difference, unless you spend a lot more. If you spend less than $267 a month, you lose on the annual fee. $3,600 @ 3% = $108

My Fidelity Visa had a promotion from the middle of November through December 31st that if you spent over $2,250 on the card all purchases would earn 3% cash back instead of 2, with no limits. Best believe I took advantage of that!

The target red card just upgraded itself, beyond the 5% at the stores. Think it’s 1.5, maybe 2% towards non-purchases at target. Instead of cash back, you earn $ towards a target gift card. You just have to have $10 or more and you will get a gift card (either a physical card or something you print)

Just got my latest bill in the mail, they included a insert with what I said. It’s 5% (in store or online at target), 2% on dining and gas, 1 % elsewhere (the last two can be redeemed for a target gift card)

It's important to nite the 5% target credit card also offers a 5% debit card if you don't want an inquiry or go to target that often but still want the benefit. Of course you need a good chex history probably

You mentioned the Venmo Visa gets 3% cash back on Costco in-store purchases and I can verify that it does that by classifying Costco as grocery. But it also gets you 3% back on Walmart and 7-Eleven purchases, classifying those as grocery as well. So awesome. Thanks for your earlier video about this card. I wouldn't have the card were it not for that.

@Shawn S I believe my reason was too many inquiries in 12 months so hopefully in a few months when a few fall off it’ll go through. Luckily I don’t have any problems with getting approved for AMEX or Chase so in the meantime I got the Chase Ink Business Cash so I can still get 5% back on my internet bill. If I can’t get the US Bank card on the 2nd try I’ll go for the Citi Custom Cash to get another 5% category.

I wish Wells Fargo didn’t kill their propel card. 3x on dining gas travel streaming services, no AF and FT and its metal. This was one of their best cards they’ve offered. That said i know everyone hates Wells Fargo haha, but even you have to be intrigued as to what credit cards are coming from them for 2022. I hope that it’s very aggressive and they need to be enough to give chase a run for it’s money

Amazon 2. The Paypal cashback mastercard not only offers 2% cashback on any purchases you make, but if you pay with the card through paypal you'll get an extra 1% cashback adding up to 3% cashback on any purchases made through paypal. I think this would apply to streaming services and whatnot that you can use paypal to pay for, making it a better 2% flat rate card option for people who shop online quite a lot since paypal is accepted almost everywhere online. Edit: Oh, and the 3% rate also applies when you use a paypal QR code to pay in-store with the card (not using the physical card basically).
