Saw most of this on Twitter but do enjoy this video. We rode with the mayor last week and she told us to stop when we see issues and call code enforcement when we encounter bike lane blockages. She has also directed streets department to take all precautions necessary for cyclists and pets in construction zones. It's a start.

I was told the same thing, we can take a picture and email it to bylaw, they'll issue a ticket to the car owner. Then later I found out after sending multiple photos daily the city doesnt count all bike lanes as bike lanes and cant ticket drivers who happen to park in them. Stoopidest answer I ever got. So then I asked what will they do it I set up a bike rack in a car lane, locked 3 bikes to it and left to go shopping. They said well we would remove it right away as its a traffic hazard. WTF DO YOU THINK A CAR PARKED IN A BIKE LANE IS 🤦♂️

I don't cycle, anymore, thankfully. This shit is ridiculous. I have been running for 25 years now, though, and I wish I had a camera like you to document this kind of shenanigans. People are so entitled and on their phones most of the time. Phones are definitely the bane of pedestrians. Too bad this isn't driver's ed, just watching these kind of videos.

Car drivers will care when they get hefty FINES just like breaking ANY OTHER traffic or parking law.

0:56 They had TWO car lanes in the same direction. They could have moved the cones out more to give space for bicycles AND cars, yet they inexplicably chose cars only.

It's maddening!

It's pitiful, the bike lanes basically are shoulder parking spaces. Scary...

As concerning and easy to overlook is the sidewalk blocking. A lot leads to that, mostly people owning multiple cars that are super large and take up more than a driveway. These are mobility lanes, not just for pedestrians and runners and cyclists but for those in wheelchairs, scooters, canes, etc.. Thanks for watching!

I sometimes have to wonder there there are those who are just clueless to the fact these ARE bike lanes or sadly they know but just don't care. There are some new bike lanes that recently were put in place down here in San Diego and people who may honestly think they're parking lanes.

I think the hard sad truth is (stating the obvious), these people don't care. They know the danger they put cyclists in but simply are unconcerned.

Agreed. After a year of recording these I thought it would be good to make it a little more fun with a video like this! Even the non-cyclist, I hope, will notice this after watching and not feel too much like they were lectured.

@@entitledcycling I used to work with an individual who was a medically retired combat Marine. He was a big ADA advocate and boasted about how he would simply park in bike lanes without the slightest concern about any danger he put cyclists in. He even joked that if what he did caused any cyclists to die or become injured enough to where they could no longer hop on a bike, that would just be one less "pansy" to contend with. Since he is a disabled vet who can no longer walk, Im just not sure how to react. San Diego is the kind of city where drivers (at least delivery drivers) will never be sited for parking on bike lanes. And if the car has an ADA plate/placard, same thing even tho not really legal.

@@cycologist7069 Oh wow, that's quite a story. You'd think (hope) someone in that situation would have some concern for possibly harming others. The problem is more societal I think, we don't protect these lanes and we don't enforce them. ADA placard or none.
@cycologist7069 Жыл бұрын
@@entitledcycling Yeah who knows with him? Could just be some tough talk or maybe mental issues along with physical? But yes I agree that it's more societal. I think with ADA there can be a way to accommodate both their needs AND better bike infrastructure.
