This is the car I want so bad. My bro in law has the hybrid and it’s not a bad SUV. The battery though weighs so much, that it’s portly curb weight negates the gains made from the electric motor. So the hybrid is as fast as the base turbo straight six. This V8 however, sits in an SUV that’s only slightly heavier than the six cyl car. It goes 0-60 in 4.1 secs. That’s really fast. The Competition dips into the high three secs, 0-60. But you pay a lot more for those few tenths of a sec. For my money, this X5 M50i is the one to get.

A few minor nits to pick, like how they keep taking options out of the radio/navi unit that used to be included and it has forgotten some of my settings a couple time in the lane-departure area. Plus the sun visors are super cheap, like entry level Honda cheap.

In Europe, we used to get the X5 M50d, which has a quad turbo inline six diesel. It has 394 horsepower and 561 pound feet of torque. 0-60 takes 5.2 seconds. That discontinued last year, along with the X7 M50d with the same powertrain.

They removed the seat release lever in the back where there is not just an etched X instead. Is it possible to reach the release lever on the top of the seats from the back since the lever near the tailgate is gone?

Yeah you can do the upper part of the lift gate. It's plenty fast with no lag. I don't think it deactivates cylinder, not sure tho

No they are having parts issues… there’s a tons of deletions in the latest X5. No fogs, no HK stereo and as you noticed and didnt mention, no levers to release the rear seats anymore.

@@v.maharaj3365 could be a supply chain issue as x5/x6 are built in US and 3 series isn't. or it could be because the HK used in X5/X6s are different from those used in 3/4/x3/x4

That’s a dealer case, they remove it once there’s a buyer. It’s not a true case. There’s plenty of rubberized cases that are much better.

Since 2020 MY this car lost Heated/Cooled cup holders, soft close doors, wireless charging, fog lights, and rear seat release. Not happy about replacing my 2019 lease this year.

I think they have been ditching some features in the newer cars to make production quicker because of everything going on. I also noticed they ditched the latches to lower the seconds row seat from the back

Adaptive M is much more suitable for the M50. Air suspension is on the 40i. Not nearly as sporty

In my country(South Korea), BMW put the air suspension x5 40i and x5 m50i as standard. That's why i don't get it in BMW USA.

I'm not too sure. But you can customize a new BMW way more then the website will allow. So just talk with your sales manager and they can spec it out perfect

@@BrosFOURRSpeed sorry that's just not true. NFC has nothing to do with Bluetooth or wireless charging. It's widely reported that BMW discontinued the wireless charging. It's very easy to find. NFC is still there for the key card and for the apple carkey and yes of course you can still connect to the car via Bluetooth but no, the wireless charging is absolutely gone.

@ on a highway by my house… obviously in Mexico. It got there extremely quick and didn’t require a long distance. I understand it’s an SUV, but I traded my SRT Jeep in for the m50i and the jeep topped out at 160. Just wanted the BMW to be “faster” since it’s already “quicker”….. Petty, I know.

The air inlets are for cooling, not aero. Also, this model is below the X5M, the X5M is below the X5M Comp. Probably need to do more research before making these videos

You're wrong ;) There is only 1 X5 M version. The Competition is just a package added onto the X5M. I'm sure I stated in the video the X5 M50i is a step below the X5M. Which air inlets are you referring too? There are some at the farthest part of the bumper to let air go into the bumper and pass out in the front wheel well. That is not for cooling. That is for air circulation to have air flow out of the wheel well. The active grille shutters double for cooling yes, but they close to decrease overall drag and help the vehicle cut through the air better. You can never have too much air flow to the radiator, so why would they have the shutters close if it wasn't for better aerodynamics?? Thanks for checking out the vid ;)

Honestly you'll have to drive a luxury brand vehicle. While a Ford Explorer might be a similar sized SUV. This will be so much smoother and more comfortable to drive. Interior materials will be much nicer as well in a vehicle like this. You're paying for a more refined machine with better materials. Yes it drinks gas, but thats because it has a big engine and a ton of power. You can spend less and get this with a smaller more efficient engine if performance isn't important. But new BMW's are actually very reliable. I'd buy one. Luxury brands are much nicer to drive then normal brands.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed I just grabbed mine. 2022 X5 M50i in Dravit grey with the same interior that your test model had. I absolutely love it. After warranty and all the California taxes, mine was 123,000 out the door. BMW gave me 10K for my 2009 X6 5.0 with 78K miles on it. I loved the X6. It was hard not to buy another one but at 50, the wife and I are able to get in and out of the X5 much easier. My 2009 X6 was very reliable. The engine gave me zero problems and aside from maintenance, the only issue I had from the almost 13 year old car was the air bags were starting to leak. The X5 is our third BMW and we will always own one. We love them. I had a 1999 MB s320 and it was nice and all, but it just wasn’t as fun to drive. Thanks for the review. I guess all that to say “you get what you pay for”

I do get what you mean by "you have to drive a luxury vehicle ", the quality of the interior and the design of this car are just mind-blowing... Hopefully you are right about reliability but for now, will have to wait and see

@@yoda7105 well there is new data out that shows the average age of vehicles on the road today in the US continue to rise, generally we live in a throw away society but today's modern vehicles continue to go a further distance than vehicles of the past. Hence why older vehicles only had 5 digit odometers, 100k miles was about all manufactures were expecting back then

If you have 20 inch wheel you have far more rubber and give than in a 22 inch wheel and rim when you hit anything especially if you are on run flat tires.
