As mentioned in a few previous videos; I am getting into powersport segment and settled in this side by side to purchase to handle mostly utility chores around the property but also be able to bring the family along for a ride along the many ATV trails we have in the Maritimes.
I opted for the 2022 BRP Can-AM Defender DPS HD7 as I decided not to opt for the full cab enclosure right now but who knows when I'll buy the accessories down the road.

While researching the Defender, I saw mainly the higher trim levels and not a lot on the basic trim or DPS. So this video is to show some of the minor differences with the DPS trim what accessory is included with this trim package, what accessories I ordered to be installed when I ordered the vehicle and which accessories I felt that I needed right after my first ride.
On Delivery, you only get the lunch box passenger storage container as part of the DPS trim. Along with the power steering, that's about it as main difference with the basic trim.
Another difference I noticed was the smaller display and lack of driver side top storage. I kinda wanted that storage and surprisingly not available as an accessory.
Accessories I ordered along with the HD7
1. Roof - You kinda need one. I don't really many side by sides that don't have a roof and it does add tothe look of the ride.
2. Winch - I figured that getting it installed at the dealership on delivery would be worth it. This is also a valuable piece of gear that I am using quite a bit already.
Accessories I ordered After my first Ride
1. Driver side storage bin - Needed a spot for all my straps, tie downs and recovery kit.
2. Rear view mirror - Needed to see behind me quite a few times during the first ride.
3. Dashboard nets - the cheapest option which allows you to use the storage under the dash.
4. Rear windscreen - this one I debated a lot but I opted for the screen as oppose to the vinyl or poly or glass rear.
5. Full Front Poly card windshield - makes a big difference when riding below 0C for sure but also helps a lot keeping the branches out of our faces. It also helps with directing sound when talking to your passenger.
