A ‘dutch door’ was a door some people in the Netherlands had in the old days. It was kind of a ‘half door’ designed so the bottom half could remain shut while the top half could open. For instance to keep the children inside while there could still come light or fresh air inside the house. Love from the Netherlands 😊

Thanks for explaining! I know those doors, they are so useful to have in a house with pets and children but I never knew they are actually called "dutch door". I don't love the concept in a bullet journal because I always end up using it somehow wrong so that it turns out neither pretty nor useful (the equivalent of a dark house and the dogs and children running free) :)

@@arlothepup You can use both. But this is the reason why such a spread is called a dutch door

I’ve commented something similar to this once before, but I can’t emphasise enough just how wonderful your channel is! from an audience’s perspective, you can really visualise all the time and effort that goes into your videos and journal alike. your journal spreads are always beautifully presented and never fail to strike the perfect balance between creativity and practicality - which I absolutely LOVE! every detail feels so intentional. your december spread is a personal fave of mine! I’ve been thinking about finally giving bullet journaling another go to kickstart the new year, and as always your videos continue to inspire me massively. as we edge ever closer to the new year, I am on the hunt for a new journal (however I am aware that I have left ordering said journal rather late). I would love to hear your honest opinion of the archer and olive journals, after using them for the past couple of years. i would probably use similar mediums to you, in a similar way, as my art style (in regards to doodling) mirrors that of yours quite a bit - except the execution always tends to leave a lot to be desired haha! I apologise for rambling on so much! I hope that you have a wonderful morning / night! I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your january spread! :)
@artandbujos
@artandbujos 3 жыл бұрын
First off, thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice and thought out comment 🤗 I really appreciate it and it makes me really happy to hear your thoughts!! As for the archer & olive notebooks: I started journaling using the Leuchtturm 1917 notebooks and then switched to archer & olive after my second year of bullet journaling I personally really love using them, especially because of the thick and white (not cream colored) paper, because markers and pens don't bleed through the pages I do realize that they are rather expensive if you're just starting out and maybe don't want to spend that much money 🤔 Still, I think they are a great option if you tend to use darker colors or pens that usually bleed/shine through thinner paper ☺️ So as for my honest opinion, they're my favorite notebooks I've used so far and I personally love using them, so I hope this helps and also sorry about the long response 😅 hope you have a great day/night 🥰
@itsalice440

@@artandbujos it’s my pleasure! :) I appreciate your response in regards to your bullet journal recommendations. coincidentally, I started out using the leuchtturm 1917 journals myself (albeit I didn’t end up using them in their entirety). I really couldn’t fault anything about their journals other than the paper thickness. I found that even a regular gel pen would ghost quite considerably which would then restrict the type of pens I was able to use. I found that to be quite demoralising sometimes. especially creativity wise, when you have a specific image in your head of how you want something to look and it doesn’t quite translate onto the page. however, in saying that, it allowed me to experiment with particular layouts that I can transfer into future journals and practicality wise, it never posed any issues. I think that, as you mention, the thing that draws me towards archer and olive is the far thicker pages. I think that the price is the one thing holding me back at this point in time. thank you again for your reply! I will keep everything that you’ve mentioned in mind :)
@artandbujos
@artandbujos 3 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree, I didn't mind the Leuchtturm 1917 journals at all, considering that I used them for 2 whole years, but like you said, for me it was definitely the paper thickness that bothered me the most. For me it also played a role in taking photos for Instagram and just making my spreads look "cleaner" in general I did also find that the Leuchtturm pages had a slight yellowish tint which in my opinion didn't fit my style as well as pure white pages do I'm sure that there are also other great alternatives to the archer & olive notebooks, I've heard great things about scribbles that matter or dingbats but I haven't personally tried them and I'm not sure if they are more affordable 🤔
@itsalice440
@itsalice440 3 жыл бұрын
@@artandbujos exactly that! leuchtturm 1917 journals definitely have their merits, there’s no doubt about that. but, I definitely agree with you. I’ve experienced many of the same issues myself. I have been doing a bit of digging, and have found a way of potentially minimising the cost if I were to go ahead and purchase an archer and olive journal which involves shopping through one of their international retailers. I actually live in the uk, which means that buying through their main website results in rather pricey shipping costs - otherwise I would have 100% used your affiliate link :( I thought that I would make you aware of a brand called notebook therapy, in case you ever intend to switch journal brands in the future, as I’ve heard that they’re also a great alternative. the only issue being their delivery times. thank you again for all your advice! I’ll keep looking! :)
@artandbujos
@artandbujos 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea, they do have at least one retailer in the UK (I ordered from them as well, since I live in Germany and I thought it might arrive more quickly than from the US) I actually love notebooktherapy too, maybe I should try one of their notebooks in the future 🤔 thanks again and I hope you find the right notebook for you ☺️

I LOVE that grid spacing method you used! And since the washi tape is easily detachable, I can move it over to the next book (since I don't think I will change brands, I'm sticking with NotebookTherapy). Gonna try it out for my new bujo as my current one from Jan 2022 will end in May
