I am surprised they didn't try to come up with a small spot for some for tools. Im guessing its because when we use them there are usually service trucks near bye. Its not a typical machine you would have moving dirt far from any support. But I always said that about the the e models, would be nice for a few basic tools. Also my guess for no touch screen is the guys that usually buy these machine are using them on sites. You get dirty and dust on the screen. Then you end up with scratched screens. Then they get hard to see in the sun, plus the don't always work depending on whats on your hands.

How much can you lift and move around? Im wondering if I could use it to move pallets of pavers from the front of homes to the back

In this video Cat 304 Full Summer Yard Expansion Project. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6OVnqGEZrdjfMU I pick up a big rock which was all that the machine had I would say it probably would move pallets of blocks but also would say it’s going to be close.

@@timberridgehomestead Funny I called them today. They have a slightly used one for 90k before taxes. I don't understand why the price should be so high on a used machine.

In my opinion, this is about as small as you can go with an excavator before I find them pointless. I see a lot of people buying those Chinese Mini Excavators right now and they’re so pointless. They have like 8 inch buckets in them. It’s almost faster to shovel. I’m just saying for $8000, you go could get all the tools that relate to its attachments and do it faster. This machine though. Perfect size for homesteading. It’s actually capable of doing things.

Agreed. Anything smaller doesn’t have the power for a lot of things. Sometimes I might like a bigger one but I love the power to get in places ratio this machine offers. Thanks for the comment!

Last year I dug out 60 yards of dirt and caliche for a bunker with a 2 ton IHI Chinese excavator. It’s not the smoothest or the strongest but they do work!

1.7 tonne diggers are mainly used for tight access jobs. They are definitely way faster than a shovel.
