Long term if I was wizards, I would actually reduce the print run of collectors boxes significantly and increase the price. Then I would keep the print run of draft boxes and all other products the same (maybe minus secret layer) and slightly reduce the price per box. One major problem with wizards is that they put increases in operating costs back onto the consumer (even onto lgs') in various ways. One example is the increase of printing, logistics and shipping costs. The margins on their products are already pretty insane. Instead of looking at costs more in depth or evaluating/cutting inefficient jobs they just increase prices which just ends up being counterintuitive anyways. It just results in break even sales and even cut loss sales. Poorly managed company that is completely disconnected from their community.

I think they should eliminate collector boxes all together. While I do semi-like them, I liked getting lottery cards (masterpieces) in draft boxes. It made the special treatments…well…special!

The 110 per box dor collectors with numbered is probably to low, if they keep doing it, which they likely will, id expect it maintain a healthier floor. Prices have been going up for it since launch, and more importantly, lrice on shattered glass optimus and other exclusives are up. Thousand dollar pulls just changes peoples math and cant be compared with 80 dollar pulls even if ev is similar.

Talking about price targets that are lower than distributor pricing...basically committing to only buying sets that tank. Stores aren't going to bleed forever -- they've already cut the size of their orders.

Can we say that WotC removed MSRP so they can sell the product at wathever price they want.... but also customers can buy at whatever price they want? I think recent times have shown that if we reject price increase and do not buy, at some point WotC needs to lower their price to get rid of their inventory. Standard is no longer a thing and demand is lower to acquire cards for that format right when a new set comes out (and I think this is why Aaron Forsythe was recently surveying why Standard attendance was lower. He is kind of trying to get why, because somehow they see the standard sets are selling less and also that now chase cards in them are often driven by Commander demand). Commander is hot, but most players can just by singles if they want; they don't have a need to acquire bunch of cards from new sets. What I mean is that in the current era their is no urge to buy a product has soon as it comes out (with some exceptions). I think many changed their behavior from pre-ordering to wait on product to be on sales.

there is no msrp on sports collectibles unless the packs are dog shit. usually those packs of cards specifically have an msrp price on them. i stay away from those.

They removed msrp because their margins are so low. Stores have to scalp because most retail works at selling product at 20% to distro amd 50% off msrp to stores. This both allows the stores to scalp to make traditional margins on good products, and allows them to dump on amazon without contractual msrp pegging that most distro msrp would have with their distributors.

I assume you are talking about buying Amazon dumps at these prices. Because the prices you indicated in the video are significantly lower than LGS cost and if people expect LGS to be able to provide these prices, all game stores will cease to exist.

I just buy really old magic cards and hold them for years and years and it works out great. Kinda like stocks … buy high value long term stocks and hold and you will have success . Not hard

Got 3 unfinity 2 at 70 one at 65 one Jumpstart at 40 domanari united I think 2 sets one at 53$ of trade in and one at like 70 neon dynasty at 60 for draft cabana draft at like 60or soand a boulders gate at 60. Is roughly what I got slash spent for as well as a midnight hunt from amazon

@@SolarGamesllc u r right sept is end of q3, u can make any month of a year as year end, ussually there are strategies involved with taxation and stock pricing depending on the industry. It is more likely for stock performance objective, rather than the taxation accounting efficiency with a march year end. I'm an junior accountant I dabble a bit in taxation accounting, taxation can be very complicated, not just filing lol, the financial implications are sometimes difficult to understand in terms of timing of filing and realization

Expect at least two more price increases in 2023. The Phyrexia All Is One cards looks terrible. They look like blurry sketch cards. I will not buy any boxes of this product. I appreciate your advice on products. Thank you for the video.

There are so many Timmy Foil hat theories that run through my head as to why Hasbro and WOTC are overprinting their golden goose to the point of making their properties being bought by another larger company. Pretty sure that papa Bezos is gonna scoop them up later, but I got nothing to back up my thoughts on this other than Hasbro working directly with Amazon, plus them not caring about LGS/physical stores, plus with the way they handled the most recent event that gave out 30th boosters more or less shows how much WOTC/Hasbro "cares" about in person events/meetups.

Hasbro lost a lot revenue when toys R US went bankrupt, so they are abusing their highest revenue generator which is MTg.

Secondary markets are oftentimes seen as erroneous "missed opportunities" and eventually the primary market will explore with ways to recapture that lost value (certified pre-owned cars,"drop" style sales, etc). These giants view any sale of their product by one individual to another as lost revenue and most of WotC's decisions in the last 5 years have been figuring out how to manipulate the secondary market and directly sell to collectors in order to maximize their revenue. The problem? all these business decisions are underwritten by these companies using consumer faith in them as the collateral. Now that faith is at it's lowest point and collectors don't see the same value anymore. If secret lairs ever stop selling, nothing is stopping Wizards from selling a complete set of power 9 proxies for 10k. Nothing at all. Nothing is stopping WOTC from reprinting facsimile boxes of 10-15 year old blocks and the market is pricing that in. ultimate result? The market can't make money off these boxes once you price in the damage that hasbro has done/ is willing to do with MTG's secondary market.

Good video, dude. Honestly, I adore this game. But financially, I’m out. I have a modest low to mid 5-figure position of sealed product, Modern-era, Legacy and Reserved list singles, and some graded stuff across those same eras. I imagine most of these cards will tank in value owing to Hasbro’s behavior. These days I play entirely on Tabletop Simulator with digital proxies. Buying paper product just doesn’t make sense anymore.

this is the problem with you new gen kids i dont mind paying 300 for city of traitors because it brings back memories and i can make the decks i use to play with i dont care if the card goes to 0 because when i look at the card it makes me happy and its not about the dollar value anymore if u kids keep buying all the boxes thinking u can "flip" them for 20-50$ profit then you are the problem that started all this shit to begin with stop blaming amazon because hasbro are basically saying we own the market, play the game and don't look at it as an investment tool because we will crush you - why fight the giant? ill be waiting to buy all my favourite old cards when u guys sell below 50% - thanks
