Congratulations on your first year of business, these videos you've been making are so good, very informative and helpful. I'm a couple of months away to my first year but I don't touch MTG, margins aren't worthwhile in my country. I'm still figuring out how to make MTG work better and to do singles like yourself. Keep up the amazing work buddy!

Hey congratulations on reaching 1 year of the store! I hope you continue to grow and continue to run a successful shop. I have been watching your videos for a while now and really enjoy them. I myself am really into Trading Cards and have teetered with the idea for years about starting my own shop or online shop. And while I know I may be reaching here in asking… how the heck do you even start? How do you acquire bulk? Is it from people selling their collections? Random lots? I just don’t get how to start acquiring the bulk to start selling. I have a lot of questions but the ones question that is hard to get answered are these ones.
@rng-gamez
@rng-gamez Жыл бұрын
Basically just start opening packs look for deals on eBay for sealed. Any set box under 105 is basically a good range now because that’s as close to wholesale as possible

I started grinding tcgplayer a couple weeks ago and came across your videos! glad to see the grind has paid off. I was wondering if you could maybe give some insight on when you start adding tracking to your sales? how often do you get ripped off by a customer/have it lost in the mail? Is the secret not putting middle of the road cards (like 15-30 dollars) on these websites with commission due to tracking costs? edit: i also just got accepted to pro! any tips to really take advantage of the perks?
@rng-gamez
@rng-gamez Жыл бұрын
There is nothing that you can do if people want to rip you off they will. I only put tracking on orders over $20 I would say use the reprice software it’s great, the buy list is a great feature as well
@TherapeuticGaming24
@TherapeuticGaming24 4 ай бұрын
some of your prices on the website are a little overprices compared to almost any other place which is crazy if its selling good. 400 for collectors fall-out can grab those for 300-320 local or online other places >? How do you decide on pricing. not trying to trash talk just curious brother im happy your store is running and your enjoying it happy for you.

What are your thoughts on margins Vs volume? I’m sure there is a balance but I know another person with a similar model In my area who would sell something for like 150+tax and i would be selling at 145 all in. Our distributor costs are likely the same. Is volume more important than margins? Or am I just short changing myself?
@rng-gamez
@rng-gamez Жыл бұрын
Volume is way more work but you are able to make more selling more. I bet you people go out of their way to come to your shop. Even if it saves them only $5

With wotc allowing proxies for commander players how are you handling this? I notice locally where I am many commander players at our wpn lgs store have sold there collections and are just proxiing up whole decks since commander is not sanctioned or tournament. My lgs owner wrote to wotc what to do about this he closed his buy list on commander cards only standard singles. This all thanks to magic 30th proxies.
@rng-gamez
@rng-gamez Жыл бұрын
I don’t see anyone selling their entire deck to just proxy, people like that their collections have value the 30th set will do nothing to the value of any cards that are printed in that set. If they shut down buylist they must not do a lot of sales online. I can’t keep most commander staples in stock.

If your not LLC your doing it wrong as former irs agent. If your LLC your end of the year is October. If you doing this on personal irs form if you go belly up the IRS can go after personal assets. House, other assets worth any kind of money. Protect your self. Same with lawsuits.

I think you really are missing the point for stores that focus on instore events. When you build a community and they know that you are going to be running great events you continue to build a place where you are getting people coming into your store to buy singles to have decks ready for the events. The margins are much higher so you can have an overall lower gross sales amount. I do think when it comes to online sales you are right on the money. I feel that when it comes to instore sales and events you are missing a huge opportunity.
