The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV joins our test fleet and we share our first impressions. Find out how the all-electric EUV compares to the original Bolt and if the inclusion of GM's Super Cruise system makes or breaks this all-new vehicle. We also debate what makes a vehicle 'American' and answer audience questions about EV battery life, tire degradation and predicted reliability.

Anyone who takes consumer reports even remotely serious when it comes to their auto reviews are absolutely stupid as CR blantantly lied about the suzuki samurai in the late 80's early 90's thereby forcing suzuki auto to leave the u.s. auto market as CR agenda was to claim it was unsafe n it took CR days upon days to actually get the samurai to actually flip and with the one flip they ran that story knowingly being corrupt and not being honest about it so my suggestion to anyone is to not take what CR claims as genuine or honest when it comes to their auto reviews as CR is was n always has been extremely corrupt and they know they are but they'll never openly admit it

Once you get used to one pedal driving, it is fantastic and will be what most people will use most all of the time. The only time I go out of this mode is sometimes when I'm on the freeway and using cruise control. But I love how GM has tuned the regeneration with one pedal driving and I rarely have to use brakes. Also love the rear view mirror camera. Overall, my 2017 Bolt has been the best car I have owned and has been a great reliable car with virtually little maintenance required.

I have a Bolt EUV and I LOVE it. I'm 6'1"and 270#, and the seats are great. Generally, this is an excellent car. Quiet, smooth, fast and very stable at freeway speeds (I drive 75+ most of the time). Most "criticisms" are subjective, and will be to different people. The only objective issue is the the DC fast charge only goes up to 55KWH, so it's slow to fast charge. I do most of my driving in Southern CA, Los Angeles specifically. I LOVE one pedal driving, always have it "on" even on the freeway. GREAT car !!

$43K for an ESUV without awd, no tax credits, mediocre range, quirky brakes, and uncomfortable seats. They’ll sell hundreds.
@joshgoldstein15683 жыл бұрын
The $43k is an inflated figure. They may sell a few hundred to Chevy and specifically Bolt devotees but in a few months dealers will be blowing them out at transaction prices well below on subvented leases

Subscription model for self-driving makes sense IF one is able to buy it month to month or even day to day. Long, boring interstate drives are where this would be most helpful. The equipment to make the vehicles self-driving is going to be included in most future models - so the only thing lacking is up to date software. I prefer this option over the 10,000 dollar option Tesla is selling.

the manufacturer build and buy description appears to require subscriptions for super cruise and navigation! unless i am wrong, i will never buy this or any other car/feature upgrade that has a subscription.
@JeffArthurTaylor3 жыл бұрын
SuperCruise seems like one of the few features genuinely warranting a subscription. GM has to keep mapping roads and pushing updates on an ongoing basis, and that isn’t something they can do for free. Now paying a subscription to unlock features like heated seats, that’s what feels wrong to me.

CR could improve it's credibility by adding co2 emissions ratings of vehicles. CR built it's business on greatest value OVERRALL of anything they test. Emissions represent today $$$ trillions in post-exhaust damages. The bill for these damages has come due and it is staggering. The old model that CR sticks to no longer presents an accurate picture of total cost of any item that requires an external fuel source

It is too bad they don't take cars built in other countries into account. For example, when the Buick Envision came to the USA it was made in China and sold there for two years. The car coming to the USA was identical, made in the same Chinese plant - yet they did not take it into account and said originally it was not available. It turned out it was fine and average and above in reliability when it came to the USA as you would expect.

"Darty" is a word I have used for my 2020 Bolt EV. I'm not at all surprised that the EUV might perform in a similar fashion. Coming off cruise control with one pedal driving is a challenge. You'll have to have your foot over the accelerator so that you can control the speed effectively when you use the regen paddle to deactivate cruise.

HI MONTY, LINK, AND RYAN, HOW ARE YOU?? GOOD SHOW, MOSTLY!!! COME ON, GUYS!! BEST CAR YOU CAN BUY HERE NOW EXCEPT FOR A 'VETTE?? Nobody picked a "PLAID"??? ( you didn't say EXCLUDING electric cars, right?? ). You didn't choose anything with a HELLCAT in it?? Link picked an NSX, a great car, but I checked; they sold SIXTEEN OF THEM LAST MONTH!! WOW!!! And while there's nothing wrong with Ryan's Chevy pick up choice, I think I would have gone with the Ram 2500 Cummins, for that engine, maybe a little better ride, but ESPECIALLY FOR A MUCH, MUCH, NICER INTERIOR!!! And on the question about trailer tires lifespan, I think it's also important to remember that they said they'd be trailoring in the summer, and heat from the road can do extreme damage to "old" tires!!! Thanks Guys, Keep Em Coming!!! Chas Orvis, Plainville, Ct. PS : When are you gonna have "BIG JOHN" on as a guest???

@roguedogx3 жыл бұрын
3:59 I do like the NSX, but I think it needs one more trip through the refinement mill. first they need to decide if the car is a GT or a hard core track monster (hint the former sells, the later sells at high values to a a few people). assuming Acura wants to go GT. get those GM batteries they were promised, to get the weight down while keeping the battery packs power storage levels. reworks the nose to allow for a frunk, make the interior.... functional, and clean up the design details. of course this would only lead to a modest sales increase, so I can't blame Acura for just saying "no" outright to these changes.

7:42 also, even after other electric vehicles factor in their credits, the Bolt EUV is still cheaper than a lot of them, especially from a value standpoint.

A brand which was founded and established in America is American regardless of where it's assembled. Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Nissan, etc may assemble their vehicles here but that by no means makes them American. That's like saying if you assemble a taco in the United States it's an "American" dish.

Related to the 2014 cruze turbo - the dealer should have advised the customer that they can run premium fuel to avoid at least some of the power loss that they were experiencing in hot weather - and get better mpg as well. In hot weather with heavy loads or aggressive driving - the knock sensor will sense some pre-detonation (pinging) and it will retard timing. This reduces both power and efficiency. The LUV engine that comes in that year cruze has two ignition maps - if the engine knocks, the ecm will push you back into the "low octane map" - it pulls timing to avoid engine damage. With less aggressive engine timing - power is reduced and mpg falls as well. My understanding is that the low octane ignition map will be used until the car the car is fueled up again. And finally a real world test in hot weather with regular and premium in the chevy cruze from edmunds... www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/cruze/2011/long-term-road-test/2011-chevrolet-cruze-ltz-the-ultimate-hot-weather-mpg-test---regular-vs-premium.html P.S. Consumer reports should add a footnote to all those articles that state that premium is usually a waste of money - if god turns up the thermostat 15-20 degrees while you are driving your 1.4 liter turbo, it simply isn't true that "premium is a waste of money" in a car that recommends regular fuel.

At least Ryan and Mike took the radiational sense of American. Jon took the easy way out and said any car made in America which is defeating the purpose of the question. With his logic, you can say the Toyota Camry is his favorite American car or just about any car sold in America as most are made here now by all manufacturers - including Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Subaru, Volvo - all have some models made in the USA. The only American companies with their HQ based in the USA left are GM and Ford - plain and simple.

There is no such thing as an "American" vehicle anymore. Every car from every marque has parts from all over the World and the profits from their sale and maintenance gets disbursed just as globally. If anything there are philosophical approached to cars instead of geographic. Japanese cars tend to be well built with time tested, but not forward thinking tech. Korean cars offer the most bang for the buck. American cars aren't the best at anything, but offer good value if you aren't a brand snob. German cars sold in NA don't offer the luxury, ride, or dependability they were once known for and should be avoided. Italian cars are like younger women, beautiful, but not worth the upkeep. Chinese cars are like phones, disposable.

be honest about where a company is headquartered, ok. in the future, this might be kinda important in an emergency. don't be stupid. look, the question what IS an american car, not to buy it based upon it or not. implying the purchase is based upon just this wasn't the question, implied or not. and yes, there are STILL some people who think purchasing american is an important thing to do. be it the steel production industry or the pharmaceutical industry...having the production in YTOUR country is kinda important to folks, ok?

gasoline engines are a dying breed!? you guys need to leave your elitist meat-free clutches and eat real meat again, soon. the EV production AND sales numbers are STILL ridiculously minuscule! and the hope that they are greater without the ability to produce power is again, a stupid hope. we can't even keep power supplied now in tough situations let alone if our vehicles were the main power drag!!!! what happened to the real car folks here!!!!!!????

EV sales? Dealers can't keep them on the lot! I KNOW! I've been to a few of them. The vast majority of EV owners rig charging circuits in their home (as have I) to perform overnight charging during the most "off-peak" period. An EV Level II charging circuit demands no more than the standard home electric range. And for those homeowners installing our own solar array (me), we will place virtually no demand on the grid (for a "grid-tied" system). A growing number of us are ecstatic about getting off of, and permanently as far away as possible from filthy fossil fuel.
