Ahh, the corporate 2022 contagion of passing supply chain costs on to consumers by inflating the cost of the actual expected device into a plus/pro/gamer/signature/special edition, and then placing an intentionally less desirable device at the price point said premium device would otherwise have been at to make it more appealing by disassociation. In the good old days a premium product line sold itself.

@@mopnem Speaker drivers incompatible with windows 11. I had to use microsoft's basic speaker drivers, then go into group policy editor and identify the hardware ID so windows update didn't keep borking it with Dell's driver. Even then, any time Microsoft put out a new version of windows 10 or windows 11, the sound drivers would be rekt again. For 4 months I had only headphones until I noted on a forum that many other users had the same problem. Had to use 3rd party tools to remove all traces of Dell's driver, restart in safe mode, instal the generic driver, then prevent the hardware ID of the soundcard being updated in future to prevent dell's driver being installed. As the guy above said, they can't be bothered to update drivers for very long, and often they sneakily create a new bios firmware which then makes you completely unable to go back to any previous version you may have had, often times it's removing features or functions you previously enjoyed. They put one out for my XPS which prevented undervolting with no way to go back to any previous firmware as the new one was a one-way street. I lost all my intel and throttlestop profiles and there's no way to reflash earlier firmware. Absolute shower of a company, will never buy an XPS again.

You are absolutely correct about the Dell. As a previous Dell xps 13 plus owner, I definitely do not recommend it at all! I had the xps 13 plus with i7-1260p, OLED 3.5k, and 16gb ram. The battery life is terrible with only 3-5 hours of usage before it dies out. The fans are running so loud consistently like a jey engine. The Dell xps would lag randomly due to overheating issues. I ended returning it about daily using for nearly a month with about 7 usage per day. I ended getting the Lenovo yo 9i with a 2.8k OLED 90hz screen, 16gb ram, i7-1260p. The Lenovo 9i lasted about 8-9hours of daily usage and it is so quiet while doing heavy workload. The Lenovo yoga 9i also doesn't lag like the xps 13 plus. I highly recommend the Lenovo yoga 9i with the 2.8k OLED. 💯 Avoid the 4k OLED model

I'm one of the lucky ones that have not had any issues with their XPS, and I really love mine. It has a 4k screen, core i7 1065G7, 16/512 GB memory/storage. Paid ~$1300 after taxes back in 2020 for it. The XPS 13 Plus would be the natural upgrade, going by how watered down the 9315 is, but Dell would first need to bring back those ports, upgrade the webcam to at least a 1080p, and also make the display refresh at 90Hz minimum. If they can get this done by 2025, which is when I plan to upgrade my 9300, then I'll get an XPS Plus. If not, I'll be looking at Lenovo or Microsoft.

Got the normal xps 13 9315. What a disaster it's been. 2 months in it started working like a decade old HDD laptop running at 15 frames a second. Do get any relevant answers and support it's the customer that needs be behind their asses and grind out the answer. Returning it now

I'm absolutely lost on why a computer would have its main drive SOLDERED. What could possibly be advantageous of that beyond a few cents' cost saving at manufacture? The downside is so massive - namely, there's no way to upgrade/replace the drive, or worse, if the drive happened to fail, the computer is a total brick!

I dont think its a good idea to compare dell to apple, its nowhere near integrated. I have been using dell xps for the last 5 years and there are still other manufacturers in the windows outperfoms dell.

And then there's the new 2-in-1! Which is awesome! EDIT: OMG the lack of ports is ourageous... I got to buy something older gen to have a fresh XPS but not this crap : / BTW Touch keys are BAD. I can't stand smartphones, not to speak about solutions like Dell copied from Apple... OMG what an idiocy without feedback on fingers : / EDIT: THEY SOLDERED THE SSD??? WTF??? EDIT: 60W not 65W charger? Those idiot engineers at Dell constantly make wrong decisions!!!
