I got to try this bike out a few days ago, albeit at a very small and narrow circuit with a lot of other riders on it, and only for about 15 minutes, but I found it to be a lovely bike, if you can overlook the very shaky experience of riding it in low RPMs. For a standard Euro-5 pipe it sounds absolutely gorgeous and those front brakes are just spectacular. If I had the money, I'd get one. Ideally yesterday.

Great early review as usual. Looks, to me like a better option than the V4, unless of course you do regular track days. The little 'quirky' vibrations through the seat and the shaking of the tft, I'm sure would soon become normal, though for the price, you wouldn't expect it. The initial looks are good and looking forward to your in depth review.

I love the low rev characteristics of the Ducati L-twin motors and am glad Ducati is still able to make them Euro and US regulations compliant. Like many, I seem to always fall for the larger displacement models, but cannot argue with the fact that the “baby” versions of the Panigale, the Multistrada, and now the Streetfighter are probably the better choice for most applications. I also think the Syreetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2 look sleeker than their V4 counterparts. By the way, the LED display is not flimsy. It is heavily damped to protect it from road shocks and vibrations.

Reminds me of where novelist Guy de Maupassant is quoted as saying he hated the Eiffel tower, but ate lunch at its restaurant every day. Still enjoying my Streetfighter V4 12 months in, zero issues but my only criticism is makes me ride way to fast, that power is addictive, I was interested to compare a V2 thinking the same it would make a better more useable road bike as the power of the V4 is off the scale fast especially for a naked, waiting for your option on the V4/V2 comparison and is the V4 worth the extra cash

I have a Streetfighter V2 now with 850 miles on (first service was at 620). I kept it below 6K rpm before first service, and it was _maybe_ a bit vibey below 5K, but now run in it all smooths out beyond 5K rpm. Now I'm familiar with the bike, I use 2nd gear for 30mph zones and 3rd for 40 zones, to be honest from the vid, I think you were in too high a gear at those speeds.

@@TheValbunnys Thanks buddy! Before buying this bike I had a Ducati 959 Corse and a Street Triple 675 Rx and wanted one bike that did both jobs - a rideable naked with more power. I was all set on getting a new Speed Triple 1200 RS which I really liked, and thought the Streetfighter V2 would be too tall. However, I had a test ride and loved it, so bought one there and then! 1100 miles in, and I’m still running in the engine (current self imposed limit of 9K rpm), but it really comes alive at that rpm - it feels very special, and I don’t have any issues with vibration. Hey mate can I ask what were the main reasons? I'm trying to decide between these two at the moment. Have test ridden both, I felt nothing on the Triumph until I hit a series of tight s-bends then it was an absolute hoot, whereas on the V2 every second is an occaision and was more enjoyable more often. I'm going to try them both again
@AlistairCarter-fk9yo Жыл бұрын
The rs is a great bike without question. But personally after a number of months it wasn’t quite giving that feeling of something special. The sf just continues to give that certain something. At 6’2” tall I find the sf more comfortable too. All the niggles re the throttle, mirrors, hot seat and not great in slow town traffic….well, as far as I’m concerned, got used to throttle immediately, mirrors not the best but set right they’re fine, seat only gets warm at a long standstill and it’s not the best in town but if you can control a bike at slow speeds it’s a doddle. As for the open road fun, absolutely streets ahead of the rs….as expected being a more powerful machine. It won’t disappoint. Good luck dude 👍🏻

I think the same on extreme powered bikes. Streetfighter V4, ZH2, Tuono V4, MT10 look good sound nice but totally impractical an way more power than you need. 99% of riders will never get close to the performance limit even on track. IMO 150 HP is still more than you need, rip through 1st to 3rd an your doing silly ban speeds. 100-130 is the sweet spot for me. Ample power an still fast

Great review! There's a lot to like on this beautifull bike but I can't get over the amount of plastic covers covering the whole right hand side of the engine. I wonder why they went this route. Loved the review as always. I have always been a Ducati fan and I recently rode the new Monster. I was extremely disappointed with amount of vibration through the seat and bars. In addition, the mirrors could not be adjusted in order for me to see behind me. Also my boot would not fit between the shifter and foot peg. The dealer was not the least agreeable with my complaints. I have a KTM 790 Duke which is butter smooth and the mirrors and shifter cause no issues. With all that in mind I have to say it rode smooth, handled well and perhaps with new boots and mirrors I could learn to ignore the vibes. It did appear to be a quality unit. Something not always said about KTM.

Can you suggest a good aftermarket exhaust that is not too obtrusive?

I’m afraid don’t know - sorry!

As stunning as its V4 sibling, but by jove that's the first time I've seen you spot that many niggles on the first ride... but at least the TFT vibrating might melt that snowy forecast ;3 Do wonder if the equation for Grin Factor = Torque minus 'Traction of Pants' divided by 'Lovely Scenery' times 'Exhaust Note'?

There probably is a mathematical formula out there somewhere!

like most of these streetfighter type bikes it just looks like a mish mash of plastic trims to replace the missing fairings, the radiators look like a disaster waiting to happen! Not for me but appreciate your video, much prefer your Panigale.

If vibration is an issue be careful of your phone if attached to handlebars..It could do the phones accelerometer in. Ducati's have certainly come a long, long way since their bevel drive bikes..which also vibrated...Its the nature of the beast!...They looked good, were fast, handled well, but Ho! the TLC one had to give them... Now, they are an Icon that even non-biking folks have heard of.... The 916 and the later Panagali's just look like sculptured works of art.. If I could afford a 'Duke' now it wouldn't be this one.... I yearn for my 900 SS Bevel drive of 1979.... warts n' all

This is off topic, but just noticed, you sold your Street Triple ? , say it aint so, that was the best bike you owned ! did you make a vid about this ?
@TheMissendenFlyer2 жыл бұрын
I did and the buyer is about to put it on the market again!

@@TheMissendenFlyer you have to get it back, I know you want it back, any other bike on the road we’ll give a glance and think ‘nice bike’, but when you see someone riding a Street triple you immediately smile and you know the rider just gets it. Nothing can match the ride on a ST3, and yours was a top example

TMF ,what was the sports car you passed by in town? It looked like an AC Cobra.

Sounds like you're sold on the V4 Streetfighter 😀 ( even if it's 200 plus BHP isn't really needed outside of track days)

TMF, i had to go back to find the subliminal message, totally agree, it is a Happy Place channel!! Great bike reviews, keeping it real world.

You can see how vibey it is by looking at the fluid in the brake reservoir! Needs a radiator guard too. Not for me I'm afraid..................

What do you prefer? The streetfighter V2 or the Triumph Rocket 3R?
@TheMissendenFlyer2 жыл бұрын
Completely different types of bike - I'd probably have the V2 over the Rocket (loving that order of words!)
@Gugosss2 жыл бұрын
about the look, I really didnt like the V4, while I love the V2, all because the side on the V2 is so much cleaner. How does it compare to the street triple regarding the riding position?
