Well in my defence I don't knowingly misinform, but as I frequently state (if you read my smallprint - which is aimed directly at people like you) I only do this for free entertainment purposes, I'm no expert and getting old so I do occassionally fluff things up or make an error. I'm very happy to be corrected. No sense of humour seems a little harsh, although I do try and err on more subtle and gently humour so it's possible you miss them. Whether I can ride or not is for others to judge not me - all I can say is I have ridden thousands of miles two up through Alaska, Japan, Europe, Thailand, the US and elsewhere and lucky for me haven't had a mishap yet. Again, I'm no expert, just sayin'. Anyway, I recognise your pain, I hope whatever is not right in your life you are able to sort - all the best my friend!

Seriously, you only do this for free entertainment purposes? So, not the money you're pulling in through KZbin, nor the sponsored payment, nor the manufacturer paid trips etc. That's seriously very good of you and I must be mistaken. It's not about an occasional fluff, you could pull just about anybody up on KZbin for that. It's about having real substance to your blogs along with a depth of knowledge. You're popping out Video's faster than the Catholics do kids and in my opinion, they are becoming simply for the sake of producing another Video for your hoards of followers to watch. I know that some people will watch paint dry on KZbin (there's an idea for a video) and maybe I'm just getting old, but I did watch some of your early stuff and simply cannot watch these latest video's that in my opinion have no distinct purpose. You're very fortunate to have ridden so much and to so many countries, no doubt supported by manufacturers and other sponsors while the rest of us actually pay for our trips including the 6k miles I've done through Europe this year. If you are no expert, why the hell are you doing this and leading people up the garden path. Not your fault I suppose, if people want to watch and believe in everything you say, that's up to them. There is absolutely nothing wrong in my life. Retired at 55 and have plenty of time to do things like this without pressure. Somehow, you classify as an influencer, so all I can suggest is that you offer some real depth and knowledge to the people you are influencing. Otherwise, go and get another job (sorry, it's not a job is it, you do it for free entertainment purposes!).

Regarding the ‘advertising’, there’s been lots of bad press regarding product reviews on KZbin (and some of it justified), however in this case full disclosure at the start made everything clear and the link provided offered the chance of a free gift to those who used it. Not a problem IMHO.

Agreed, I have no problem if the person is honest about the review being paid for by the manufacturer. There seems to be a group of people who think You Tubers should be happy amateurs, but still provide regular content, using high quality equipment, however they probably have no problem watching their favourite programs on the TV with highly paid presenters and production crews and facilities, and if its the BBC they don't even have to stand or fall by the revenue they can generate.

I can’t see a problem with sponsored videos. You were very clear about it at the beginning. Respect Sir, for standing up for your principles and refusing to be directed to say this or that by contract. They submitted the product for your review, they can hardly expect you to say it’s good, if it’s not as good as advertised.

Im 60 years old, I do not believe it myself, where have all the years gone. I lived yes. Well back to ailments, last year in January I had a shoulder issue, damn it was painful night without sleep. Then I went to Osteopath and started doing Pilates. All of this helps, still have some pain on some days, but can ride. In January 2024 we were at the Penguins in Valladolid, on one tour I was not even able to ride my bike, so much pain. But as I said Pilates and Osteopath have helped.

Nice to hear that your favourite bike is the old GS. Just a proper bike with the right things you really need when you are on the roads. No apps and electronics that doesn’t work when you need them, No quickshifter, just a clonk when you shift gear, not +150 bhp etc.etc. For us who’s been in the saddle for a long time, (myself 50 years) this is what motorcycling is all about. Totally random comment. But seeing your list of topics taped to the tank reminded me of the time about 25 years ago when I used Blu Tack to stick the directions on the tank of my Ducati SS750 (not a very bright idea, I know). My wife was driving down to Cornwall with the kids and I was taking the bike down so we could do some 2-wheeled trips whilst there. Of course the directions blew off after a few miles at around Beaconsfield on the M40 with nearly 290 miles to go to St Ives. No SatNav or mobile phones back then. I got lost several times and arrived very late in the dark to an extremely unsympathetic other-half. I've not really used Blu Tack for anything else since. It was a good ride though - I enjoyed every minute of it.

As an Australian I wasn't prepared for the so-called roads in regional England. They are nothing short of goat tracks and are the width of you average driveway here in Aus. Loved the scenery and the people but the roads...

The small roads without white lines are mostly ‘U’ graded roads, referred to colloquially as lanes (the French call theirs ‘ les chemins’). In many cases these roads are hundreds or thousands of years old having been used since before the bronze age, but many laid by the Romans (the straighter ones). Most have been paved of course. But many remain as dirt tracks and can be enjoyed as ‘green lanes’ and are enjoyable for off roading. ‘B’ roads may have similar history but are now double width and lined, usually the most paved fun, ‘A’ roads being the heavy lifting roads before motorways/highways

I miss riding my 1995 R1100GS. I took me 15 years and about 1500 miles shy of 100,000 miles. It was the best handling most comfortable bike I ever rode including my 1994 Honda Goldwing. Altogether I logged approximately in the neighborhood of 350,000 miles on 2 wheels but 4 years ago I lost my left leg which ended my riding carreer.

A different side of the coin... !st, I like Flyer, I've been tuning in to him for a very long time. Not all his videos but quite a few. He is a great guy. 2nd, Why does KZbin have to be a "Job" for people? It used to be that people just used the ad revenue to update their camera and computer gear, not make a living, It reminds me of the Uber/Lyft people, that started out as a way of extra income but then they bastardized it demanding unreasonable benefits. Thankfully taxis still exist. So, if they are trying to use this social platform as a form of income then they should to cater to their consumers. I Pay for a Premium KZbin membership. So, that puts me at a different level than someone that doesn't pay to watch content. These manufacturers have found a way around the premium membership with these embedded commercials. So, as a paying customer I feel that I'm within my right to ask a content creator to put the ads at the end of their program or at least put time stamps so I can quickly zip past their ads. If thery don't then I exercise my other perogative of not watching their content. Which is what I've done with quite a few channels. Flyer announced that his video (which I didn't watch) was an advertisement at the get go. I also didn't watch RyanF9's video which was an ad for insta.

I had a whiffy petrol smell after a service once, turned out they had unscrewed the fuel cap from the tank, then put it back, but didn't notice that the filler-cap to tank rubber seal had shifted slightly... I just re-aligned and whiff was gone.

In defence of these “wimpy” extras. I live close to Cairngorms national park and try to ride all year round. Problem is it’s a tad cold so heated grips and seat make it all possible. Doesn’t make any difference to the crap road surfaces but it helps.

The leaf color change is at peak in N E Ohio, so my favorite slow backroads bike is my g310gs. Exploring roads never taken and dead end roads seem to be a quest of mine, especially now that that days are shorter and the deer 🦌 sightings are more prevalent. @@EWAScotland don’t be a dick, it’s a well known issue especially on older vehicles. Norton fuel tanks (as one example) don’t tolerate E10. TVS bikes may be better, don’t know.

Hi, just referring to your fuel issue, is it a plastic fuel tank? Or is the filler cap plastic? I had a dreadful KTM 990 SMT; it had a fuel tank and filler cap made from plastic, ABS I'm sure. The cap swelled and I had to shave bits off it to get it to fit in the hole. The tank swelled, I had to elongate the mounting holes in the side fairing trim pieces to get them to fit. The worst symptom was the plastic tank interior degraded and broke down, the fuel filter blocked, imploded and caused a right load of bother. Terrible bike, I was so happy to get rid of it.

The E10 issue is true. Until recently I had a T595 which I bought in 1997 and all was good until a few years ago when I left it over the winter with a full tank of ethanol fuel. When I opened up the garage ready for my first ride of the year, the tank had blisters covering most of it's surface. I called the manufacturers UK office and found that they make the tanks for Triumph, BMW and Ducati and all had to be re-formulated to withstand the new fuels. It's a problem for classic car owners too 'cause the stuff destroys o rings, seals etc in the fuel systems.

Ref your 2:03 comment regarding ethanol fuel, if your actual tank is nylon based it is indeed very prone to warping after using high ethanol content petrol,not sure what Beemer tanks are made of though. Speak to most Aprilia,and many Duc owners,especially those in the states,there are /or were class actions against the manufacturers taking place I believe. It's not the Ethanol per se,it's the water concentration the ethanol attracts that does the damage. Higher ethanol content = more water simples.

I had a ‘discussion’ with someone in the comments section who said that because I was given a helmet to review, I would automatically be biased. I argued that potentially he was more biased because he had spent his own money on it, and therefore was financially involved, and as such felt the need to justify his purchase? Mine was just another helmet on the shelf.

Have you tried physio for the shoulder? I couldn't put a seat belt on or lift my left arm, 7 sessions, some watery eyes and exercises later I can actually do stuff again. Private physio might seem expensive but being able to move again is pure bliss.

Hi. Re your shoulder. A few years back I was in a similar position. I'd had several cortisone jabs. The final one being guided ultrasound. None worked. The final step was surgery to grind away bone to relieve internal impingement. I opted not to. I did though go down the acupuncture/ acupressure route. It took quite a few sessions but it worked. It allows the body to lower inflammation and swelling itself. It really does work in that scenario. Obviously though it can't help if you've got a mechanical problem where something is broken or disconnected

Yes I've had about 3 non guided and 3 guided cortisone jabs over the last 5 years (worked for a week or two). I had the "Sub humeral decompression" operation last November (where they get rid of bits of bone) and that caused the shoulder to freeze. I've had two ops to "unfreeze" it but neither have worked so now I'm just having to wait for it to fix itself and am in more pain than ever with it!.....(I am seeing a physio but the jury is out on the effectiveness)....

One thing to slightly defend the dealer - now they could have been fobbing you off, however as a R1250 owner, I've contaminated fuel twice (I only use E5) and both times the garages have sold fuel that's been well past it's sell by date. I am much more selective where I fill up now, and moreover both times the repair has commented the fuel was indeed E10... which wasn't what I thought I had bought! I have had issue with the fuel smell too - but it turned out to be seals (eaten up by the crap fuel)

I grew up in Thame, always enjoyed riding on some of the lovely roads round Bicester, Aylesbury and South. It’s interesting to see you going through areas I know and especially the biker scran series to find cafes to try out. Touring is always interesting to see for future tours myself. Generally enjoyable videos you put out, you can’t please everyone! Even my favourite channels put out some fluff pieces.

Frozen shoulder is awful. I had rotator cuff injury and took several years to fully rwcover. Funnily enough i find general anaesthetic pleasing as it literally, to use you phrase, "switches you off!" Clocks go backon Sunday. My partner said she never holds on when on the goldwing and we have done some tricky pyranees passes.

Great video and interesting chat. Just a thought about your frozen shoulder. I had one some time ago and was offered surgery which I declined. As an alternative I had three months physio which was completely successful with no problems or reoccurrence. My thought is always stay away from the knife if at all possible. However, I hope you are very much better very soon. Looking forward to Saturday.

I think the touring video success depends on the interest in the location. I watched your Japan tour, and Itchy Boots does the more extreme locations so those are interesting to watch. I will also watch a UK tour if it's on a bike I am specifically interested in.

I actually bought the cfmoto 800mt because the voge 800dsx was late coming to the uk . After watching other reviews i wish in some respect i had waited as i think the voge is a better bike . I don't know why it is but I find your talking videos very engaging and interesting. Love the bike news every month and bits like this one. I find you and Mrs Flyer a very good combination for live streams because you interact very well. I was also in hospital last week in Exeter, the Cardiac unit having a stent (2nd one) fitter on Thursday afternoon. Not a major heart attack so all is looking like it will recover ok. Cant drive for a month or ride the bike for at least 6 weeks but the wife has said not for the winter. I also like the tours so keep them coming.

Ouch frozen shoulder 😮 I feel your pain. I’ve had a frozen shoulder since I had a serious accident in 2019 🙄 I haven’t opted for surgery as I suffered a stroke during surgery to mend my leg after the accident, so I just struggle on and keep riding my bike 🏍️ Some glorious colours already on your ride, very enjoyable thank you very much 👍

Hi Andy. I have a 2015 R1200 gs and love it too. Bought it new and will not be upgrading to the 1250 or the new 1300 any time soon. I believe th😅e 14, 15, and 16 models were the best, Every model after that got boring because they softened the throttle response meaning, you have to twist the throttle more to get the power.

The road from Long Crendon to Bicester is a lovely one near you. It's mostly flowing bends over undulating terrain with good visibility & surface. Recommended.

The bike I'm looking forward to riding is my own 74 plate Transalp which I've not had for very long but absolutely love and have had such a good time riding it on both the tiny goat track roads in England and also it's comfortable on the motorway too. Next year I'm planning a short trip to the Hebrides and then a much longer trip up to the north of Denmark to get the ferry over to ride around the Icelandic ring road which is going to be an epic trip!

If your defunct BMW dealer was Bahnstormer Maidenhead, I got the same load of rubbish from them when I went to look at buying a new R9T a couple of years ago. The sales guy told me that VAT was about to be increased on bikes, so I needed to buy quickly. When I didn't bite, he tried to sell me their demo bike which was the wrong colour - no probs he said, just scrape it down and respray it. Not surprised they've closed!

I ordered the Aoocci C6Pro 6" about nine days ago for my new Speed Twin 1200, because I think it will suit the bike, and after John reviewed the product. It was dispatched on the 18th October, and I think it's on a slow boat from China! Only kidding, hopefully it's sitting in UK Customs waiting for clearance. I've got an old Garmin zūmo XT unit, but I was never happy with the maps and the route planning on it. I reported a local map error to Garmin about two years ago, and they still haven't fixed it! The route will send you into the delivery area at the back of a local shopping centre where all the HGV lorries go, instead of the car park. 😒

You're right the Chilterns are beautiful. I did the Ridgeway walk in the 80's, through Chequers. Born in Hemel Hempstead, now out in Oz. Love the scenery and flintstone walls in this video. No complaints about Oz but always enjoy a trip back. Your videos are cheaper than an airfare.

"Frozen shoulder"? [shudder]. I don't know if it was the exact same malady, but a few years ago I had what the doctor called "frozen shoulder". He sent me to a Physical Therapist. She spent 6 weeks treating me, and inflicted pain which may have violated some of the Geneva Accords. But in the end the problem was gone, and I was happy with the results.

Great video as usual, I have owned the Voge 900 DSX for 7 months and thoroughly tested and reviewed it, if you want any long term thoughts. Although well supported by a main dealership network here in Spain as an early adoptor the original fuel and throttle mapping was not up to BMW standards, however through community and a 4.4 map update i put out. Its an amazing motorcycle now. Ride safe✌️

Ethanol does harm plastics. I do tend to recommission old(er) bikes and leakages in the fuel system are quite common. Usually because the bike was parked for some time with E95 in the system. I would assume your GS is too young to have problems with it. Later plastics are better with ethanol. I no longer take risks and use E98 in all my vehicles... All the best with your shoulder.

Strongly recommend avoiding E10 at all costs, in particular for occasionally used motorcycles. For Classic Bikes E10 is a total disaster. Even on Ducati 998s of 2005 it’s key to avoid and minimise leaving Ethanol (10%) in the fuel system over winter, it absorbs water, rots rubber, gums up injectors and/or carburettor jets / float bowls etc. If possible use Esso, Shell or BP Premium fuels with 5% Ethanol.

At 30000 miles that GS is just run in. Friends tell me about the boxer engine longevity. Have VStrom 1000 myself and love the upright seating position of Adventure bikes and the view of traffic that the seat height gives me. Cheers

I came across your videos when you went 😂out for " runs " around the country side. Britain is one beautiful country. I was born in Thetford , Norfolk in 1946. Arrived in America with my " mum in 1947 . My father was stationed in England, repaired radios on B-17s and fighters. I visited England in 1988 to get to know my grandfather. I am into landscape photography and riding a motor bike would be a great way to view the world. I plan to get licensed to " ride " here in America. Looking to get a " ride" that is light, flickered, but not hinder flow of traffic. I guess I could say ride on two wheels as if on horse back. Keep up the videos. I " ride " with you when go out.

30 000 miles is barely broken in, as BMW boxers are made to make 120 000 miles. So you are good for the next 30 years (bikewise that is). I have a XR with over 50 000 in 4 years and last year I bought a 2009 K1300GT with 15 000 miles on the clock (payed 7000 for it with 1 year dealer warranty) , to use as a winter bike. Put an extra 6000 in a year. BMW's are mostly traded in because the owner grew tired of them and want something new.

Very sorry to see the shoulder problem persists, and I hope it gets resolved soon. I can’t understand the complaints about paid reviews. You’re always transparent about them, and they will be useful to many. I’ve been introduced to some genuinely excellent products via You Tube (Ashley Watson gear for one). It’s easy enough to take or leave a video, or, for that matter, a product. The livestreams are always good fun and the two of you make a great team on those. Thanks for all the great content. The sun was out today but riding today would be a bit too much for my shoulder. I did something wrong and now it’s really hurting for days now. I’ll do some cycling tomorrow; much less strain. Be very careful with those shoulders. I speak out of experience. I had multiple surgery on both too. All was well for about twelve years but then things went wrong. I pushed a cupboard with a heavy plasma tv on it and one of the front feet of the cupboard broke off and the tv came towards me. I managed to hold it but then I had to lift the heavy tv and move it to another place. That was too much strain on my shoulder and now every time I have to use force with it, i starts to hurt for days. The tendon surely is inflamed again. No more surgery is possible so I have to live with the pain again. I don’t like adverts. KZbin almost always put almost one minute long adverts in and that’s too long and you can’t skip them.

Andy, Riding weather looks good. 👍🏼 I just returned from a Nashville, TN to Newport, RI roundtrip on my '24 R1250R. The first long distance tour on it. No problems with the bike although the windscreen I have is bit small. I am going to try another option from CalSci. I hope to have it next week. My fingers are crossed that it will solve the bike's greatest shortcoming. Next week I am riding the capable Moto Guzzi Mandello to Savannah, Georgia. @@TheMissendenFlyer I hung on in there with a few shoulder injections but I avoided surgery. After 20 years I don't have a full range of movement though. I can't raise my arms to a complete vertical. No pain and it doesn't stop me riding which is my main concern. My brother had one arm 'cracked open' as the consultant put it and he ended up with a better range of movement in that shoulder. I think the whole thing lasted 2 or 3 years...
