Why trust bar safety line has so much slack to a point of it wrapping around the centerline while riding?

That only happens when you have the kite fully depowered with the Trust Bar. At which point, that's a good sign that you should probably go grab a smaller kite for the conditions. -Aaron

High-V? How do you self-land?
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding Жыл бұрын
Awesome question, Jack. 🤙🏽 I see a video that I'll have to shoot this week. With all Duotone (High-V) kites, I usually depower the kite fully before bringing it down to the beach, at the edge of the window, as if someone were there to catch it. Once it settles down (no bouncing), I just grab the front lines and quickly walk toward the kite while pulling in on the front lines (hand over hand). Once I reach the High-V split, I pull on the upward front line a bit until the kite falls into the "clamshell" position. If at any time you sense the kite is going to take off on you, get ready to blow your safety line and flag the kite. This method usually works for me 90% of the time. Of course, you may always use the old-school "slam it and clam it". This is where you bring the kite down in a similar manner, but aggressively crash it into the beach (landing clamshell). You must be quick to grab the upwind steering line as the kite hits the beach and give it a hard yank. That will spin the kite around on the beach and angle the leading edge into the wind. Again, be ready to blow the safety if you botch it. This method works OK for large landing areas with soft sand that are free of anything that can puncture your kite bladders. An easy last-ditch way of self-landing is to simply crash the kite into the water, blow the safety, and reel it in. It's messy, but always works in a pinch. Hope this helps. Good winds to you, my friend. Aaron

I really wish they would pay whom ever they have to, to have a chicken loop that just ‘clicks in’ like the rest of the industry has moved to.

Thats one of the major reasons I didn't buy a replacement clickbar some weeks ago, just sold my old one and switched to a different brand. Maybe in the future they will decide to catch up to the rest.
@MACkiteboarding

I agree. From what we see while the majority of kiters stick with a standard loop, for those who do swap out their loops on a regular basis it does add a cumbersome step. Also having to buy different releases for $79.95-$99.95 versus $30 for brands like North and Cabrinha is a bummer. A chunk of this cost is in the included leash, but this could be added to the bar or sold separately to bring the cost of the release down. - Jake

Don’t buy the click bar. More cleaning and the whole clicking to de-power and turning to power is the stupidest idea I have ever been tricked into buying. It was even more expensive than the trust bar I was used to. There is no better way to power/de-power than the traditional cleat. I can’t stress enough how stupid you feel when you need to power the kite out in the waves and instead of just reaching up and using the cleat, you have to instead use your one hand to turn the knob several times to power the kite. Someone please explain to me why it is still an option?

@@MACkiteboarding Thanks. Thats ok 😊, but surely you must be able to at least try to convince me or explain how the click/twist to depower/power system is a good idea.
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding Жыл бұрын
@@PopGoesTheWorld2023 While I never try to "convince" someone about the Duotone Click Bar, I'm happy to tell you the two main reasons I personally love it. To preface, I've been kiting for over 20 years and primarily focus on kitesurfing waves with a 9m or 7m kite, and a mid-size surfboard. To that end, I absolutely love the quick, measured depower that the Click Bar offers. I don't have to stretch to reach it-it's right there at the end of the bar. Each click offers about 2cm of depower at a time. I never find myself off-balance and trying to grab for a trimline in critical sections of a wave. The incremental depower lets me make micro-adjustments and stay right in the sweet spot at all times. Think of shifting gears on a mountain bike. Since downloop transitions are an every-session thing for me, I also appreciate that the center lines always spin clear after I unspin the bar. Chasing waves and working around sections always calls for lots of downloops. Since the bar automatically untwists the front lines, I never have to mind it. Granted, the winding mechanism can sometimes be challenging to twist while wearing thicker, cold-weather gloves. However, I don't give it a second thought while kiting bare-handed. Plus, I'm not usually clicking the depower more than three clicks anyway. Thanks again for your constructive criticism. Healthy debate is always welcome. Hope this helps shed light on the other side of the coin. Good winds, Aaron

@@PopGoesTheWorld2023100% correct .. to depower a kite you have to shorten the AoA by shorten the center lines NOT the outside steering lines … I know nobody who is happy with the click bar

In strong wind the depower button in clickbar doesn't work in proper way (you need to shake it and press several times), and the whole system is too complicated - not that reliable and takes attention and maintenance. This bar is only suitable for ladies, accidentally cruising here and there in perfect conditions. And you need to check and adjust new duotone lines after each couple of rides off course :) this is the reality...

I have been riding the clicker for the last 3 years a 2017 model for two of those witch I haven't been taking good care of my bar at all (rinsing and such) and haven't had any issues with the mechanism, so I don't know what reliability issues are you talking about but I think you would have to bash the thing against a bloody rock to start having reliability issues. (In total we currently have 5 clickbars 1-2017 1-2018 3-2022 non of which have had any mechanical problems. about the depower at high winds, you just have to sheet out the bar a bit, never had it so I couldn't depower when I wanted to. (looping with it over 30 knots depower still functioned). I have currently clocked over 60 hours on my new clickbar and still haven't had to trim it. Please don't give opinions on products you don't know shit about Sincerely Adam

@@adamkempinski5774 Relax, man, I've just described my experience and thoughts about it. I personally prefer and ride with the trust bar. But it also lost some of my trust after the 6-month old chicken loop was torn during the jump after preload pop in shallow water :D I have 3 trust bars and I trimmed each of them for few times. And the last bar was with one of steering line 5cm longer from the factory (!!!). One of the new SLS Rebels was also with issues. My experience shows that the quality dropped in recent time, as I had no complains for years before also. Anyway, I wish you not to have issues with Duotone gear in future 👍

@@adamkempinski5774 Agreed. I've had the original 2017 Clickbar and it's been around the world through Turks and Caicos fine sand to full on mud/clay at my local spot. I've never had the depower mechanism not work properly. I don't baby it or rinse it every time either. I'm not a sponsored rider or company shill, I paid retail for all of my bars and they have yet to fail. The lines did suck in 2017/18.

@@pegas2929 the Rebel SLS was leaking from the factory, I've found it on the spot and lost the session. luckely I've managed to find the repair man and then ordered the new kite strut for replacement. And the stitch on the leading edge came apart for ~10cm on the other side of the kite. By trimming the lines I mean adjusting their length to be the same.

Sorry , but in my opinion the click bar is shit. No other brand did a copy of this idea . BECAUSE - normally you shorten the center lines to depower the kite , while the AoA (angle of attack ) gets smaller. How can you really depower with the click bar when you shorten the outside steering lines ???it is not good at all. The steering lines do not shorten the AoA
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 ай бұрын
Chris, it just works the opposite way. In fact, it's easier to trim the steering lines because they carry less load. To each their own but the Click bar is very effective and has it's own dedicated following. Primarily foilers, surfers, and short arm folks. It's not for everyone but that's why they offer the less expensive "Trust quad bar" option with your typical above the bar cleat depower - Tucker

@@MACkiteboardingsorry, to shorten the center lines is THE way for depowering a kite . You have to shorten the AoA ….Very sorry to tell you this . The steering lines carry MORE weight Thats why they get stretched by time , that’s why you have knots to trim your bar, making them shorter again . I know NOBODY who is happy with the click bar !! Why did I get an offer from a duotone dealer about a click bar ?? I ordered a new trust bar from last year and a new D lab Neo , I got asked if I like to get the clickbar Brandnew for the same money ?? Hi I read your post. I'm not sure I agree with you. Your AOA is a product of the kite pivoting around a fixed point either your front lines or back lines which are fixed length you change length of either you change AOA anyway its all quite imprecise considering the stretch in the lines the shape of the kite etc. I think you can hate the click bar for other things but AOA im not convinced
@chrisduc1
@chrisduc1 20 күн бұрын
Your center lines are fixed on the front tube , right ? If you shorten these lines your angle of attack is getting less . You pull down your kite by shorten these lines. That’s is your less Aoa . If you shorten the steering lines it is not the same in my opinion. short steering lines are making the kite Backstalling a lot. That’s what I learned, but maybe you are right and I am wrong 🤙🏾🤷🏽‍♂️

@@chrisduc1 I hear you I'm not sure. I just bought an Evo SLS and haven't taken the bar yet so Im in the process of figuring it out, I think I will demo both see if they feel the same if so ill take the click it suits me because where I live I power up on way out and depower on the way in when you get into the surf I can't always depower because the front lines are under too much tension because of the nature of the conditions. But if its going to be a pain Ill stick to the traditional bar.
