KZbin does in fact have guidelines but it's already been made clear by some comments I've deleted that it (KZbin) doesn't watch or address them unless prompted. If me removing hateful comments ultimately alienates the viewers that feel necessary to post hateful comments that I'm not sure I see that as a negative. I'm not telling people they can't have an opinion, I'm just saying I might not want to read their opinion on my channel in my comment section. When I become emperor of the world, the 2m rule will be the first against the wall. As Dustin says well, it's unfair in the random nature of it.. Jeremy Koling illustrated it perfectly too during a practice round by pointing at a disc that was caught in a fork in a tree at 1m and saying 'how is this OK, when one just 1m higher isn't?'. Again good commentary and coverage and nice place by the ladies. I love the smooth play of Madison and Tina especially

I can see the interest of the 2m rule in one only situation : to prevent people from throwing up and over, trying to crash in the trees after "cheating" by avoiding a narrow fairway. I'd like to see the 2m rule in effect on certain holes only, like you add some OB or mandos to make the players throw the intended shot.

Great coverage, thanks a lot to all involved! To me, the 2m rule seems a bit of an arbitrary addition to the rules. Like on top of everything else, your disc must not get stuck in a tree. I just don't feel like that's what throwing discs is about, but I don't get too worked up about it.

I never play on courses with grabby trees, but it does seem very arbitrary that some shots fall out and some dont. Or one disc is 1.9 meters up and is safe, but another is 2.1 meters up and OB. As a compromise, rather than a blanket two-meter rule, what if a certain tree or bush was designated as a bunker of sorts? So if you get stuck in a "bunker tree", it's a stroke penalty, whether it's a foot off the ground or thirty. And if it's not a bunker tree, no penalty. Thoughts?

2 meter rule should be hole by hole, just like OB - I’m sure there are some holes, somewhere, where you really want to discourage some sort of over the top play. Just like an OB designation, it could be an individual use case to add some difficulty to a hole. Just thinking out loud, but curious if this would or wouldn’t work.
@thediscgolfguy3 жыл бұрын
It absolutely can be used on a course by course basis, a hole by hole basis and even down to a single tree. Those are some of the options TDs have when declaring what is or isn't out of bounds. The decision is left up to the individual tournament directors so it's interesting to see how many people are so fired up exclusively at the PDGA about this.

2 Meter rule.. Most everyone's main defense is "It's a bad shot' if it's stuck in a tree!"---- Well, so is a bad putt/shanked drive.. by that logic, every time you throw and the disc doesn't land where you want it to, it should have a penalty shot added, along with the fact you're not where you wanted to be. We play a game where trees are used and in courses at all times. Unless you're in a poorly designed course where everything is wide-open and it's HyzerBomb/putt for 18 holes. Poor course design does not warrant penalizing players playing within the elements that are supposed to be on every disc golf course.
@tracyruggles84233 жыл бұрын
2m rule means you just have to think twice before throwing over or through some thick foliage. You don't get to just stick it in a tree and throw from below. You have to take a penalty to move the lie down below it... unless, I guess, if you want to climb the tree and throw from the branch (if it's possible). If you don't want to get stuck in a tree, don't throw that direction.
@Brettsparadox3 жыл бұрын
The thing is you already are punished if you throw a bad shot that doesn't land where you want it too because you have to throw it from a spot you don't want too lol

@tracyruggles84233 жыл бұрын
The 2m rule is great... you can't just magically move your disc position 6 feet ahead or behind or to the left or right either. If your lie is up in a tree, you have to take a penalty to move it down to the ground (just like you would if your disc landed in water, or rolled out into a street... it's the same logic). If you don't like the 2m rule, then carefully evaluate your throw and the risk of getting stuck in a thick tree. Simple as that.

I'm against the 2 meter rule if it's a long course with a Buch of par 4s where you're throwing it really hard/far but if it's a pitch n putt course, like Morley in San Diego, my home course, then yes, by all means enforce the rule because it takes away a lot of super easy shots.

Love the content. I would say the 2 meter rule is unnecessary in most situations. I could see it in play as a rule for certain holes where landing in a tree could provide too much of an advantage. I don't think it makes sense to keep it in play for an entire course. People don't usually intend to land in trees, and a lot of courses have you throw in trees so it seems a little excessive to punish the player even more on a course thats already wooded and challenging.

When considering scores and ratings, consistency is crucial. Players playing in 2 meter regions undergo more challenges and inconsistencies compared to those who do not. One could argue the scores and ratings balance out because everyone in the tourney is subject to the same rules but one thing that isn't consistent is when we (in California) have an errant shot or bad luck, we're looking at 5's, 6's, and 7's compared to other regions where they will only be facing a bogey. 2 meter region players are unfairly rated under the same metrics as players not in those regions. The "old school" ego needs to be taken out of the discussion so the sport can be taken more seriously under a level playing field.

Game is brutal enough with random log/stick in the fairway/green ruining your planned skip or roller, no need to make it more punishing. I say take as much luck outta the equation as possible.

2 Meter rule needs to go. PDGA needs to make a rule on it and it needs to go national or go away. Like a lost disc if you can not get it down within the 3 minutes then its a penalty, mark under it and throw with an added stroke. If it's in a tree, mark it, get the disc down and play on. But if it holds up the card and you can not get it down within the time limit then I can see a penalty. But I'd like to see a final rule we all play by.

All the two meter rule does is add a little more variance to a sport that already has a lot of random elements. If you feel like its an arbitrary rule, well so are most of the rules of disc golf, or any sport really. Personally I don't like the rule, if you throw into a tree then that likely is already punishment enough, I don't think a percentage of bad shots should be extra punished because they stick in the high branches while other similar shots trickle though. But a lot of things that happen during a round aren't necessarily fair or consistent, sometimes a disc thrown into a tree by a small miracle hits only air and ends up parked under the basket. That random element is part of the fun also.
@darinladd53123 жыл бұрын
I know. Another example: spitouts ... especially on DGA baskets. That's why my favorite rule is the "Mulligan rule" where I go and pick up my disc from wherever it landed and take the shot again ... as many times as I want!
