o.O You did this with less then 200 miles on the motor :O....hmm I personally would have let the engine breakin *1000ish miles* before doing power mods, but thats just me lol. Either way thats a nice Easy CAI you fabed up :D. I my self just got my 24 Mav middle of May, looking forward to all the mods I want to do to it :D.

Did you get worst gaz millage because of more air into the engines ? Thanks.

I did this when the truck was new so I couldn't compare fuel mileage. But I get 29-30 mpg highway and 25-26 around town.

So, what are the "benefits" to doing this, and are there any "downsides". Thanks much... :)
@Trevih2 жыл бұрын
Benefits: potential +hp gains. Downside: In theory the stock air box reduces the risk of engine sucking up water. Short ram intakes are less susceptible to this than a cold air intake that places the intake filter closer to the ground for colder air. So this should be fine if you are in deep enough water where this sucks up through intake you have other stuff to worry about.
@DobbyKong932 жыл бұрын
Didn't even occur to me just how restricting that stock intake is. Damn.
@jlspowersportshobbies45682 жыл бұрын
Yea it's gets necked down pretty good.
@alejandropacheco38392 жыл бұрын
If you haven’t upgraded the fmic this is going to 100% increase intake and charged air temperatures. Also the oem intake flows extremely well so if anything this is just a sound modification. If you have any questions, the focus st forums should be your bible.

I plugged in and followed the temps before and after. They only went up a couple degrees. Like I said to another guy these trucks have pretty good engine bay air flow. I sold the truck a couple weeks ago so it's long gone anyway.

@@jlspowersportshobbies4568 did you make any profit by chance? I heard of a couple people selling their mavs. for 8 and 10K over what they paid new.
@brandoncarpenter65558 ай бұрын
the air is going to be heated in the compressor of the turbo no matter which intake you use. the degree or two difference prior to the compressor makes zero difference. all the cooling happens at the IC

Just a note of advice, there are 13 bolts holding the skid plate under the engine. When installing the blowoff valve I dropped the e-5 socket. Yep fell all the way down.

Gonna suck a lot of hot air. Engine runs real hot
@jlspowersportshobbies45682 жыл бұрын
Actually it does not when moving. When I have my diagnostic tool plugged in monitoring intake temperature it's the same as with the OEM setup. Sitting still in traffic it is slightly higher not much. When moving these little trucks have good engine bay air circulation.
@rileydavis14472 жыл бұрын
You’re saying with more air being taken in, that the engine will run hotter?
@jlspowersportshobbies45682 жыл бұрын
@@rileydavis1447 No sir, it pulls in slightly warmer air when sitting in traffic. When moving the air is cooler due to the fresh air coming into the engine bay. The "snorkel" on the OEM air box pulled in slightly cooler air due to where it's routed outside of the engine bay. The intake I built pulls in engine bay temperature air. This has no effect on how hot my engine runs.

@@jlspowersportshobbies4568 Awesome, thanks for getting back to me too 👍🏻 I’m waiting on an FX4 and I’ve been making a list of things I want to do to it, and this is honestly one of them. Maybe a little beyond my typical scope, but I’d really love to do this too.
@sleeper.simulant73272 жыл бұрын
The air hits and intercooler before it goes into the engine, temps at the intake don’t matter as much on a turbo vehicle, especially when in movement, you want it to flow well, the intercooler will deal with IAT’s…
