I have read 6 Car mag reviews comparing the MACH E to a Tesla Y, and every publication gave the edge to the Ford. Having said that, I am not buying an EV until they solve the long wait to charge. (45 min 'rapid' charge is still long IMO) I read Ford recently patented a cable that can fully charge an even in under 10 min. How long until that is applicable I would like to know.

Is it a cable thing or a battery/car thing? Sure, pumping oodles of electricity through a wire/cable can make it get hot, but the item receiving the electricity has to be able to cope with the oodles of electron ⚛️ juice too....

While I'm not going into detail about my reasoning (I'm sure all 6 of those mags would essentially echo my logic), I chose the MachE over the Y. To address your point, I just did a 2000 mile road trip down the East Cost and had zero issues. It's about 20 minutes to get the car up to 80% which is really all you need. While not as fast as refueling an ICE, it amounts to getting an extra 45 minute to stretch your legs on a 2000 mile trip. Day-to-day use you're charging it at home, so that is a non-issue 99% of the time. BTW the next generation of EVs will have 700V charging which will drop that fast charge time down to 7-8 min.

7:15 Wow it really fell flat on its face after 60.. The model y performance seems to stay pulling hard after 60mph so tesla has the top end speed of their EVs down.

So why not give full bore until 80, then slow it down after that and cap it at 99-100mph. Who needs to go faster than 100 mph in real everyday life. Plus, w/a speed cap, insurance 'should' be lower.... and if one must go faster than 100, like at the track, make the process a 4-5 step ordeal w/an acknowledge statement (Are you sure? Are you really sure?) to ensure there is no "oh, I didn't realize I was in" race" mode....

MachE owner here. The GT version throttles the power after 5 seconds, ironically, my Premium 4X does not, and in certain cases might have slightly better acceleration than a GT at higher speeds. Weird that Ford did this, and I'm hoping that they bump the GTPE to at least 7.5 - 10 seconds once they get more data and refine the car. Notwithstanding... under what real-world circumstance would you actually need to floor it from 0-70? I cannot think of a single real-world instance in my MachE where I needed or even wished I had more power. If you are looking for a track car, you're not going to buy a MachE and you're certainly not buying a Tesla. There is more to racing than 'top speed'... like, how the suspension handles when you floor it around a curve. From my understanding, a Tesla feels like a vibrating death trap at anything over 120.
