The 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali is a truck that’s ready to work. It won’t only put in the work, it will also do it while looking great. The iconic Denali chrome is seen all over the massive front grille. The big hood also sported some a functional scoop to make sure things are kept cool under heavy workloads. The big 20” wheels in the high gloss black color, helped with giving a Darth Vader-like feel to the truck.
The heavy duty suspension can do double work with being set up for heavy towing as well as providing a very comfortable ride. This loaner came equipped with the Kicker sound system that’s built into the Multipro tailgate. I was able to enjoy music as I cleaned my garage and the bluetooth system made sure I didn’t have to run to the truck to change the track.
Inside the Denali, it’s all about making long hauls in luxury. The big and comfortable seats had both venting and heating to help combat whatever the outside temperature may be. The only thing this lacked was the updated infotainment system that GMC has announced for late 2022 models. The incredible HD Surround view camera system will make things easier to see when you try to park this truck that’s 250 inches long!
The massive 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel V8 adds to the larger than life truck. With 910 lb.-ft. of torque, you’ll be able to tow 18,500 lbs! What I loved about this engine was the linear power delivery compared the the Ford F-350 we reviewed that had a very abrupt climb in power. Although it wasn’t as fun as the F-350, the power delivery made for easier and predictable acceleration.
With the Denali chrome, high towing capabilities, and the Denali luxury touches, we would definitely consider the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali as a big tow rig.

For the air intake. That is too drain water from rain or moisture. Once enough water builds up in the reservoir the weight of it will make the slit open up and dump it all out.

The intake has a 180-degree turn that forces all water droplets - even mist - to form larger droplets that can then be removed via a special valve.

I wonder why all the reviews I've seen so far are on the diesel...unless you're driving 20,000+ miles a year, the gas is a good option, and most people aren't going to use this to tow at its maximum capability most of the time. I have an '01 (yes, 21 years old) Chevy 2500 HD with the 496ci gas (350hp/450lbs torque) coupled to a manual 6-speed transmission, and it tows my 12,500lb 37' 5th wheel RV and my 5-ton dump trailer without any issues. I'm going to treat myself to a new Denali 2500HD, and I'm going gas...I can't justify the cost of the diesel option.

Thanks for watching. GMC may just be wanting to sell more of their diesel specially since it costs more money to option it with it. I agree with the diesel as we did the math and you’d have to put in a ton of miles to just break even. When we had it, diesel was over $5 compared to premium that was around $3.50ish so we were dreading to needing to go to the pump $$$. Btw nice 2001 rig! I wish manual transmissions were an option in these but I understand the profit/business side of things. Thanks again for watching!

That's a tough question. I even asked my wife which one she preferred and she couldn't pick either. I'll break down what I liked about both. The F350 had the 6.7L V8 diesel that was fun to drive because the turbos would kick in hard. Every day drivability wasn't the best because of the kick in the pants power, but it was sure fun. We had a tremor packaged model which was nice because you got the off-road worthy set up but still had some nice luxuries from the King Ranch trim. This is hard to find because usually you cant get off road fun with the luxury touches. The F350 we had didn't have the tailgate step which is nice on Fords to be able to get in and out of the bed. Going with the Sierra, the power was delivered in a way smoother and linear way which made every day driving really nice but just as linear in the fun factor. I did feel like the sierra was more of a pavement princess in the sense that I probably would be concerned since I don't believe it has underbody skid plates like the Tremor package offers. The interior on the Denali is more classic in the darker black and even their walnut colored option is still reserved compared to the loud and in your face king ranch. The Sierra's Multipro tailgate wins the tailgate wars by a long shot! The multiple functions configurations make this such a useful tool. The side cutouts in the front of the wheels also makes getting in and out such a nice options to have. To add to that, the bumper cutouts are also such a small but incredible option to have to get into the bed. In summary, if youre wanting a fun off roading truck, go with the Ford. If you want a more relaxed towing rig, go with the Sierra. I hope this helps your decision and be sure to let me know which one you decide on and what led to your choice. @@Revmatchmedia thanks man!!! Ya I like the Denali outside but want the king ranch interior haha. Just everyone is doing mark ups….. and I have a 2020 Denali 1500 with technology package. But want to go back to diesel. Fully loaded Denali hd was 86k here now there 93k for the same truck as it was before. Now a non technology package there charging me 86k when it was 81k with out before… idk if times are best or wait. If it keeps up trucks will be 2024 model with new interior will be around 110k….

There have been spy shots of the new sierra HD. If you’re big on tech, I’d wait to see if they implement the new screen on the HD

I’d say the smoother GMC power delivery would be better for towing because that Ford torque felt like it would break something under load.

That interior is way outdated. Ford and Ram are years ahead.

I agree with it being outdated. The new refresh should help out though. The crazy thing with Ram is they have a premium CLOTH option that looks and feels better than the some “premium leather” options from others. Now if they can just get their UConnect 5 infotainment system to actually work!
