Sub 4 has been on my mind for years now, but each year I was never able to quite put down the run I needed. You can train as much as you want but putting together a full run on green race day is one of the hardest things. With 1 run a year, some of the most challenging moves, hardly any margin for error, I knew getting sub 4 was gonna be a beast. At the end of the run this year I was stoked on the run overall but it felt just a touch slow in a few places that I felt was gonna add up, and put me just over the 4min mark. So to find out it was a 3:58 I was beyond hyped, I’ve wanted to hear Hale call out that 3 for so long. After years of practicing so hard before the race, breaking down every little thing on the course to find that time to save, I was finally able to put it down. STOKED!!

yup - that is not just the fastest lap I've ever seen, it's the fastest in about 5 places. Aced Collison, mank after Pincushion, skipped into and out of Go Left, skipped thru Gas pedal and speed trap, absolutely sprinting from Nieces to the finish. That's an athletic masterpiece.

Couldn’t have happened to a better kayaker or just downright friendly guy. It definitely was a life highlight getting to recently meet Dane randomly. What person has a smile and greeting after having a car come backing up on the road with some random guy hopping out and yelling Dane F’ing Jackson? Dane’s that person, and now Dane is that guy who has a sub 4 lap. Congrats Dane!

I think you must not be familiar with kayaking. It's not surprising at all that this was a winning run. Clean runs look effortless. The spread between Dane and second place was OVER 10 seconds. When do you see spreads like that in professional sports? Not often. Also considering this is the first sub four minute run, also not surprising that he won. It's never been done this fast in the race.
