I got my XR 650l in 2013 its a 2012 when I picked it up from The Honda dealer I could just Reach the ground with my toes , so went off on a dirt road to see what it would Be like turn this thing around on A single lane dirt road with a Bank on one side and a canal On the other, not getting of the bike ,needless to say fell Over bent the clutch lever , Went home and broke it off In the drive way perfect timing right in front of a couple of friends , forgot to Mention I'm 5'8 about 170 1 trick is to shorten the clutch lever so it's shorter Then the bars, later turned The shock adjustment down So it saggs a little, and cut The seat padding down , now I can reach the ground, I've been riding my XR for over 10 Years now and it's tricked out Didn't mean to ramble on but I just thought someone could Use some tricks for short guys because I love my XR And U will to.

Make sure to get one of the thicker counter sprockets from Rocky Mountain ATV. The sprocket is thicker where it goes on the shift shaft. If you wear the splines out on the shaft you'll need to split the motor. They're like $12 each. I have a hair short of 14,000 miles on my '16 XR. The bikes just fun to plonk around on on the back roads and even better if you find some gravel, dirt etc.

Congrats on the 2022 XR650L ... I got a 2021 last fall and have been loving it. As for the seat height, I agree that it helps to be tall, but what is your inseam? The reason why I ask is that you noted that you are 6'2" and are on the tips of your feet, but I am 6'1" (34" inseam) and can sit on my bike with no problem with keeping the soles of my feet flat with the ground during a stop ... but I will admit that it is like a martial arts kick to get my leg over the seat at times, and there is a technique that I go straight in with my knee to swing it over my seat that seems to work. Also, I have been wearing some O'Neal dirt bike boots to protect my let, but they don't seem to elevate my height that much. Maybe I am just built like a spider. Also, I agree with you on the tuning setup with the bike ... I keep seeing Dave's Mod and Rejetting suggested, but really my bike has bee running smoothly with the factory setup. Also, I have been getting ~ 45 mph in the city and 55 ~ 60 mph out in the open road ... I see some of the people on KZbin with the mods but note that they are lucky to get 35 mph out on the open road. I'm not blaming the mods ... just that maybe the prior years were badly tuned. At any rate, with the gas mileage that I am getting, I don't want to do anything to mess with it, and as you noted in your video the bike has plenty of pick-up as it is. As for the tires, I'm thinking on going with a 60% on-road/ 40% off-road setup since I've had both the Dunlop and the Bridgestone factory suggested tires, but (a) I can't get the Dunlop here in the USA (unfortunately I got a tear in them after 800 miles ... my bike had crate damage during shipment) and (b) the Bridgestone only is going to last 2000 miles. Maybe that is standard for the nobbies, but also I was getting a little nervous driving with the tires during my commute to work ... I'm finding that I am doing more on-road than off-road, and the off-road is like logging trail and not single track. They're a Contitech tire ... it is a little more expensive than what I spend on the Bridgestone and this may all be a mistake, but I thought that I would give it a shot. I'm glad that you like the 2022 ... enjoy the bike since she really is a beauty, and I hope you have many more adventures in the future and post them here - I love seeing this kind of content!

One of the best dual sports made. That's interesting with the jetting. I don't own one, but I remember hearing people say that you are "required" to do Dave's mod and rejet or the engine will burn up due to the factory's lean setting...lol. Not sure if you mentioned this, but did they put a better front sprocket on the 22? I almost bought one, but I went with the new KLX300, which is awesome. Maybe one day I'll get an XR.
