2022 HuRaCaN 300 Bikepacking Off Road Ultra Race

Hello Everyone,
We have been wanting to try Singletrack Samurai's HuRaCaN Ultra Bikepacking Race for a long time and finally take it on!
This an awesome route that really highlights the diversity of Florida and dishes up awesome singletrack and dirt backroads. The pavement sections that are on this route are either on paved bicycle paths or smaller backroads with less vehicle traffic.

For those not familiar with this type of racing, when the clock starts it never stops until you finish. So it's up to each racer to choose how they want to race. The top racers will keep riding through the night and won't stop until the finish line. Then you have people like us who will ride to a certain point then sleep for a little while and continue until reaching the finish.

great video. Do you think this is doable in one day? it is only 128.8 miles.

This route in it’s entirety is actually around 365 miles which we did in 3 days with stopping. The race winner did do it in 1 day and 5 hrs without stopping so it is doable.

Love your videos. Thanks for posting another. I’m starting to think that rear suspension (i.e. Thudbuster ST) might be more important for this kind of riding (especially when loaded, especially over multiple days). Your thoughts on maybe opting for a Thudbuster seatpost instead of a front shock? On rigid vs suspension front?

Thanks for watching. Funny that you asked about the Thudbuster seat post that my wife uses. I just took it off and she is going back to a normal seat post. I don’t use one but have ridden her bike around and to me it really does not do much, just my opinion though. They do require maintenance and on her Surly ECR it locked up due to me not lubing the bushings and she didn’t even notice it wasn’t working. If I had a choice I would go with a suspension fork over a suspension seat post.
