Credit to Hyundai for producing such a great car for the money. Porsche was once the only brand you could drive there, track all day and drive home. Not even bmw with its Motorsport pedigree offers anything similar.

I remember buying my I30N in 2018 for $38k.. that represented absolutely amazing value for money although it did present some quality control issues. Now they're closing in on $60k.. The middle class is being dissolved and wages aren't increasing for inflation.

Mid 50s for a top spec DCT, given the MK8 GTI is another 10k over this - decent (in todays market etc)

@@Vakushka yeah, and the interior quality difference is Night and day
@Vakushka2 жыл бұрын
@@mattyoz0 true but to be honest I’m not buying a hot hatch for the interior (having said that the N premium is still a nice place to be compared to a wrx for eg) for me it’s the way it drives and such and the gti being 6.1 to 100 doesn’t really cut it - if went VW again it would have to be the R to justify it! Either way, all good cars just my opinion but hope they improved the DSG since my MK6 GTI days!
@ashcosmo38542 жыл бұрын
@@Vakushka Oh sure in today's market it's a good price.. but today's market is still a complete shit show for the middle class citizen. I just don't think these cars are worth the money the manufacturers are trying to sell them at.. unless your wages have matched the inflation which I doubt
@Vakushka2 жыл бұрын
@@ashcosmo3854 I completely agree, but the landscape has changed so much, 65k for a GTI (I think my MK6 was 42?) even then top spec Hilux with a few accessories is edging 80k not that you can even order one! I guess I was lucky in the sense that I sold two daily / run arounds for decent coin that covered a good majority of the cost of the N for me

Thanks! The upgraded brake pads held up really well. There was a bit of vibration/shudder at the very end of the sessions (about 10 laps in), but no pedal drop or fade, and same stopping power the whole time. After a quick cool down they were back to normal.

Great video! Thank you. And thank you, Hyundai for making these cars. But do you know what that high frequency rattling sound was, about two thirds the way down Conrod Straight? I heard it on both laps.
@PDriveTV2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The car featured a sunroof, and we mounted the camera (and Vbox) to the under-side of the glass. We suspect it was just wind noise at high speed. We didn't hear it inside the cabin - it's just that the camera microphone was right next to it. The weight of the camera and Vbox pulling down on the glass slightly may have impacted as well. Hope that helps.

The Vbox and camera were mounted on the inside of the sunroof. We're guessing the weight of these pulling down, and the fact the microphone was right there, caused some wind noise.

How do you rate the hatchback vs the sedan?
@PDriveTV2 жыл бұрын
Hatchback feels a bit more nimble but sedan feels more stable. Front end seems to turn in better in the hatch as a result, but, understandably, the longer wheelbase in the sedan helps during higher-speed bends and cruises better on the highway. Overall though, both cracking cars. I'm not sure what I would buy if given the choice. The sedan does include the new-look cabin/dash design, and wider tyres. Not a fan of the sedan wheels - maybe I could put the hatch wheels on the sedan? Hope that helps :)
