Great video, few notes: I got a mimeophon, it's nice but I haven't loved it as much as I thought I would. Consider checking out the SSF Stereo Dipole over the QPAS. It sounds amazing, my #1 module!. I'd also strongly consider Marbles over the Turing Machine, gives you tge randomness, but also much more control. My current wishlist: Pam's Pro Workout, Planar², the TipTop Buchla modules.

Funny you say that because I have some kind of feeling that the Mimeophon isn't what I think it is. Like, it feels like I'll be disappointed. Yes, the Dipole is on my radar. Have you tried both the Dipole & QPAS? I don't know why, but I'm not that attracted to Mutable Instruments. Great modules for sure, but I always felt they were like cheating modules. I prefer playing with analog stuff. I like to work hard and complicate my life! ahaha I have a Squid Salmple and I'm not super attracted to it although it serves my music very well. The TipTop Buchla modules seem really nice. I've been thinking about those for a while. The one with quadrature is so interesting.

Mimeophon can do some neat stuff, but quuckly gets a bit too soupy for me. Dipole was my 2nd choice after MI Blades was discontinued. I've been very pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds on everything. Haven't tried QPAS, but what I've heard of it on KZbin hasn't really impressed me. I kind of get what you mean about MI stuff. Marbles is definitely easier to tame than Turing Machine, but it still takes plenty of work to get something useful out of it, plus it just can do a lot more at one time with 7 different outs. I resisted getting Plaits for this same reason but finally broke down because it was fairly inexpensive, and was immediately bowled away at just how good it sounds, but yes definitely easy mode.

@@moodlesmodular Yeah, I almost bought a Plaits recently. Was like 15% off for a new one. But I have to be focused. I don't need a voice like that. I'll dig more into the QPAS vs Dipole. Thanks for the cue.

Dude I just got a Turing Machine recently and I can’t recommend it enough - one of my favorite modules to patch for sure.

I played with it a lot in VCV and it's definitely my type of module. I'm currently looking for the After Later version. It's unavailable in Canada. Will probably have to buy it on Perfect Circuit or Control.

@@raktNewsletter oh I had good luck getting mine off Reverb from a dude who was building the MusicThingModular kits. Sherpa Modular is the name of his Reverb shop. Only paid $150 USD and it has worked perfect for the first couple months.

@@raktNewsletter No it’s still fine. Works great. I just haven’t had it for very long yet so I’m still learning. Was just suggesting Sherpa Modular as a pretty cost effective way to get a Turing Machine, I had a good experience buying from him.

@@elliotttadanier5971 Right now, due to current budget reality, I'll get my hands on an Ornament and Crime which has 4 Turing Machines. Not as fun to interact with, but it perhaps the most complete module tool you can have. I'll still look at the Sherpa Modular version.

I'd pick an Ornament & Crime instead of the Turing Machine.

I must admit that I have overlooked that module even though I know it's super popular for good reasons. Why would you pick it up instead of the Turing Machine?
@CinematicLaboratory
@CinematicLaboratory Жыл бұрын
@@raktNewsletter The Turing Machine is part of many 'apps' like the sequencer. On the built in quad quantizer you can run four of them. However, it's not as immediate as the true Turing Machine due to menu diving. If you go the dedicated route, ALA has some really cool expanders for it. The combo to go for would be Alan (Turing), Morcom and Enigma. Marbles (or any clone) also has a turing machine built in.

@@CinematicLaboratory I'm still more attracted to analogue modules so Marbles and Ornament & Crime are kind of off radar right now. I might end up getting more digital modules one day, when I'm done with complicating my life.
