So, I don't know if you get credit for it or not, but I've taken to watching your videos more than once because they are so information-packed and enjoyable. Your content creation skills have gone up & up and you are in my opinion one of the best providers out there...honest. I really like the way you display the information side by side so I can pause it and read why a bike is better or worse, and your music is always some of the best out there. Excellent video with plenty of data, love the way you laid it out, the Chevelle in the background doesn't hurt! I test rode a Scout Bobber yesterday and just a bit too small (seat and rear shocks way too stiff), thinking the Chief might do the trick. My current bike is a Vulcan VN2000 a total beast but at 800 lbs dry its a bit of a load ( I just turned 63) , thinking its time to shed some weight!

Great video, you got mote into specs than I did, I did more of intro on all the models and a price compare. I think ride mode have a place for new riders, I think most experienced riders won’t use them in cruisers. On more powerful sportier bikes it might make more sense but mine would be on sport 100% time.

I own an Indian with ride modes and keep it in standard mode most of the time sport mode is great if you are ripping it in the mountains but around town and parking lots it is real twitchy. All it does is change throttle response doesn’t change power output. Tour mode is more like a rain mode really backs down throttle response and has saved my bacon in the rain! Really cool technology to say the least. Great bikes as well on my second Indian and might put a Chief next to my Chieftain once paid for! Great video!

The Indian has a drop forged one piece crank, not pressed like Harley, has machined aluminum intake not like Harleys plastic. Indian has gear drive oil pump not like Harley chain drive. One oil used for the oil changes for the Indian not like all the different oils need for Harley. The Indians don't have an oil sumpping problem so oil and carbon build up on top of the pistons after a short few thousand miles like some Harleys have wont be an issue. Those are just a few things I have researched and found out. I wanted a Harley too but why not get something that is better built, however the Harleys do look a little better and would have a better resale. But the Indian Chief Bobber does look pretty darn good!

I tend to ride bikes are more geared towards speed than putting around but from a sports bike guy it just seems like the Indian is the obvious better bike through and through it seems like Harley is relying far too much on its brand loyalty in selling its loyal customers 20 year old technology for modern money prices offering far less than their competition but they can get away with it because Harley guys are going to still buy Harleys no matter what kind of like iPhone fan boys or Gucci girls who care more about the brand name then the actual product they are receiving for their money.

I think Harley in a tough spot because whenever they try to do something innovative traditionalist always bash them for doing so. Which is I think the core of its consumers. Nice job! I have owned both brands and like them both but am currently on my second Indian and they are great bikes. I think it is great that HD has some real competition to push them because I feel they got lazy for 20 years. I don’t think you would have seen the frame change on softail line or the 114 if Indian wasn’t taking share away with 111 and mono shock frame. So two strong American companies better than one! Ride what you like and don’t hate on another’s choice! That’s what got me off my third HD was that crowd turns on it’s own when I got one of the first Vrods traded a softail for it and HD dude’s would completely ignore me vs when I was on the softail.

It's ironic that you mention dealer support. HD is in the process of shutting down dealers. We lost one in my town already. Whereas Polaris at least here is selling and servicing Indians in all Polaris dealers in the city as of 2020. In short, 2 years ago we had 2 HD dealers and one Indian. As of this year, we now have 3 Indian dealers and 1 HD. So I'm in the opposite position as I have way better dealer support from Indian in my town than I would with a Harley.

Nice video; good production, riding shots, etc. I felt your choice of comparison bikes was way off re: the Street Bob and Fat Bob. Clearly, the Slim is the aesthetic equivalent here and is priced similarly. How each rated their horsepower (flywheel or rear wheel) would've been nice as well as mentioning Harley's tech, i.e., four valves, two plugs, oil cooling. I'll be back to your channel.

Great video man - subscribed! Interesting how Indian are no longer 0lac7ng their products as the 'value option' - they are being bold and pushing the new Chief as a premium option. I will of course have a test ride, but I don't see myself trading out my '17 Scout for one of these any more than I could change to a Fat Bob - the Scout is over 100lbs lighter, has way more power where it counts and a wide spread of torque that goes far higher up the rev range. But there is a market for these 'bigger', heavier bikes; some people perceive the Scout as a 'small bike' even though the wheelbase & wheels are the same as the new Chief, so I don't think Indian will be eating their own lunch. Looking forward to your next videos 😎

Good point Andrew. Personally the reason I did not was because the two dark horses both have chopped fenders, hence I compared them to the two bobs.

Nice job! The competition between the 2 manufactures only benfits the consumers. A bit to pricey for 2 wheels IMO. This is the first I've seen the super chief, I really like the looks, I'm a fan of the smaller front fenders. Great info, I hope you received my email and thanks again.

The Super Chief Limited is an absolutely beautiful looking bike. I just wish they would sort out the tubed tyres. It's ridiculous to have tubed tyres on such a bike. They have virtually no dealer network near me, but I'd still buy one tomorrow if they fitted tubed tyres. Indian please take note. It's just a deal breaker on even a light touring bike.

I say go ride the style that you want and make your decision, I’m not a gadget guy and have and do own both. The ride mode will take you to new places, HD isn’t even close in my opinion. The 116 will flat get down the road and so far been bulletproof.

I'm between the Indian Chief DH or a Street Bob 114. Can't decide. H-D is cheaper here but dealer is further away. The new Chiefs not been out long so maybe there is issues with them we don't know yet? A lot of electronics as well. I like simple. Thing is with the Street Bob 114, the colours are awful I'd like a plain simple black. Styling therefor goes to Indian. If the Indian is solid I'm definitely going for a Chief.
@ChopperFett
@ChopperFett 3 жыл бұрын
I think you can’t go wrong either way. The street Bob while it does have power does lack some bells and whistles, bells and whistles that could theoretically break down on you. I have not heard any poor quality reports about the new Chief though either.

Good video I have a 2018harley Davidson heritage the bags are nice and alot bigger than the 2022 indian chief bobber and there not worth a thousand dollars. I'm looking at the new indian chief and trading in my heritage, I really like the looks and more easier maintenance friendlier than my harley my only 2 complaints is the battery is a bitch to get in or out and the kickstand won't stand in gravel or my yard

There's a post on reddit that broke down the Softails vs the Chief 2.0 down to the minute detail model for model. Long story short, Softail beats the Chief tit for tat every single category. Dont forget about that oil cooling assist on the Softails which the chiefs do not have and they dont even let you have the oil cooling addon like the previous chiefs did. big swing and miss indian. After reading out all the comparisons, prices and including the cost of parts from first party, it's clear that harley is the victor here in these comparisons. I think it was a huge mistake for indian to go with a TS powered bike with dual shocks instead of a Powerplus with a monoshock rear. With a Powerplus and monoshock, Indian would have slam dunked Harley for good. Big mistake indian. Kudos to harley making waves and getting out infront of the competition before competition forced their hand. I'm looking for a full sized cruiser to replace my electric daily rider, and Harley's got my attention, Indian doesnt.

Very informative comment so first off thank you for that. I feel Indian copied the Harley Dyna instead of moving forward in the tech sector. Each brand does offer some unique traits but ultimately Harley will probably win out in sales. I want to test a Chief though just for giggles.

The prices of Indians and Harleys are close. The difference is Indian gives you more with their price. 2021 and Harley still doesn’t have an electric wind screen? Really? And the technology on the Chief with the speedometer is another example of ingenuity that Harley refuses to take the next step in.

Everything with Harley Davidson cost extra. Fuck them and their high prices. There are better bikes out there cheaper then buying a Harley Davidson. The generation of people in this day and age do not care about the "Harley Davidson" cool status they relied on from the past generations. We want a great bike for a great price. Harley better wake up and offer all the good stuff you can get on other bikes and stop expecting people to pay extra for it. No one cares about Harley Davidson any more. The old guys that carried them through the years are old and dying off. The new generation of people don't care about the biker life style Harley made money from in the past. The guys with tattoos and sun drenched skin and jean jackets with the sleeves cut off and looking like they haven't took a bath in weeks are over. These days people want the bells and whistles and should not have to pay extra.
