Our first camper was the 2021 model and we absolutely loved it. We did recently upgrade to a larger jayco jay feather 24bh so we had more room but I think when the time comes after kids are gone I definitely want to come back to this one. We had the package with the solar panels and I can not recommend them enough. They are amazing!!!! You picked the perfect camper to live in full time!!!

This camper is amazing. Jayco and there company is outstanding. The camper is quality made. I love the minimal living in my tiny camper. Solar is definitely a goal of mine. Happy to hear about your freedom and travels. Never give up on your dreams.

WE LOVE OURS!!!!! We have had it in the Outer Banks, to the mountains. My husband lived in it for 6 mos as he traveled for work. It's so versatile! We also do a lot of backcountry camping during the fall time, dry or full hook up this thing will not disappoint! Ours came with a solar panel.

I am happy to hear that. I can't wait to start doing more traveling with mine as well. I also work remotely myself. Boondocking at the outer banks is one of my goals. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This seems like the best setup for a family with younger kids. Not too big to pull and park but enough room for everyone. Thank you for posting a real review. I get tired of researching campers and only seeing dealers talk about them.
@BrianCarroll222

Yeah if you had a family and a couple kids this would definitely be a great camper just to pull and go. Especially if you're just using it for a place to sleep and you'd be outside mostly doing outdoor activities anyways. Yeah it's pretty awesome camper I really do enjoy it and I can't wait to get more use out of it. Thanks man I'm glad that you liked my review and liked my video!

I'm amazed. That anyone who owns a Jayco has good things to say about them. Wife had to have a small TT that she could handle by herself. It spent more time at the dealer the first year than we were able to camp In it. We knew we were taking a chance but the dealer touted a life time warranty that like the trailer was a joke. Sold it for a big loss after 18 months. Buyer wasn't happy with it either, he sold it that same year because it was falling apart.

Man this sucks to hear you had a bad experience with them for real. I have owned mine for almost a year now and I can't say it has been that bad. As I further use my camper I will definetly share my experience more on it. Sorry to hear this man I hope you found a brand that is to your liking and had better outcome with.

Hey I'm glad that you found my video. I'm really glad that you enjoyed this camper as much as I enjoyed doing a walk-through of it. I haven't any complaints about this camper and is done great for me for the minimal amount of times that I've gotten to use it so far also living full-time in it you know it's kind of different than camping in it but I guess I'm permanently camping LOL. So I'm so happy that my video helped you and I'm glad that you liked it take care on your journey and I hope one day that you own one as well ✌

This is the same basic floor plan as the Highland Ridge 17BH and Starcraft 17BH. I have the 2022 Highland Ridge 17BH and there are some differences. My bed measures 80x54, which is known as a Full XL. Your bed is a Full standard. A camper queen is 60x74. I'm 6' 2", so an 80 inch bed is a must for me. I only have a two burner stove, but that gives me a lot more counter space. Mine came with a convection microwave vs a regular microwave. Since I tend to boondock, I'm not a fan of 12 volt compressor refrigerators, so fortunately, mine did come with a propane/120 volt absorption refrigerator. That outside removeable panel on your trailer is normally only found on trailers with absorption refrigerators, so Jayco must have originally planned on that, but changed over to 12 volt after the cutout for the panel was made. Our dinettes and bathrooms are identical, as are the bunks. One thing you have that I wouldn't mind having are the tiedown rings underneath the bottom bunk. Outside there are also a few differences. I don't have the brush guard, but I do have a square tube bumper for my sewer hose. I also have a griddle mount on the bumper. I have a docking station for fresh water fill/city water, black tank flush and hose hookup. I'd much rather have the Jayco setup with a fresh water fill port and a separate city water hookup. I also like the Jayco outdoor shower setup better vs the blue coiled hose setup I have. I have 30 lb propane tanks vs 20 lb, which is great for boondocking. As you mentioned, the 55 gallon water tank is awesome and is rarely found on trailers this small. All around, these little 17 foot trailers punch way above their size, even when compared to much larger trailers.
@BrianCarroll222
@BrianCarroll222 Жыл бұрын
Yeah man I am going to go check out your camper. Right now I'm boondocking and and fridge and freezer plus heater are running great. I'm only running a 50 watt solar panel on my truck that is running to my battery. It is doing. Great so far. I do enjoy the 12v fridge and freezer to be honest it is very low energy. Also my heater being a 12v fan is very cool as well. Thank you for leaving your thoughts and knowledge on my channel. When I hit my 1 year mark of having my camper I will be doing another walk through and my personal thoughts on the camper. I really do enjoy this camper and I feel like it has a lot of unique things and rare ones as well especially only being 17 foot. I am truly happy with this little camper.

I watch your channel and ones like it. I’ve been on a kick of wanting to live like this and purchase a truck n trailer since about 2018. My folks don’t wanna see me sell my home and regret it. I look at as I’m not a handy man and can’t repair things so I spend money regardless and also realize I may or may not be 100% happy with a mortgage and living in one spot. I think this is also part of me being a truck driver and missing the road and wanting to travel “my way.” How did you approach this situation at first and how did you settle the decision with a bunkhouse? I’ve looked at this one and the 166FBS. I’d love to chat some time. Keep up the good work. God bless and travel safe… ~CowboyChris

What is your truck that you pull it with? Its pretty heavy for a smaller trailer, do you have any issues with inclines? Do you have trailer brakes in your pickup? I just purchased the same trailer and although i dont have any worries that my F150 will handle it, Im wondering how steeper inclines will be during hunting season in the mountains with full fresh water tank for boondocking and full of gear. Wondering if you've put the "offroad" part of this trailer to the test yet. Great video though man got me pumped to pick mine up in a couple days. Thanks
@BrianCarroll222
@BrianCarroll222 10 ай бұрын
I have a 2012 Gmc Canyon. 6klb tow rating. With me having a midsized truck It does get tougher to pull on inclines of course. Nothing to bad though. Yes I have trailer brakes. Your boondocking and huntng trips in the Mountains sound fun thoigh! I have not taken it fully offroad yet. One day I will though! Keep in mind that when your pulling a trailer with a vehicle, any incline especially when you get in the Mountains will start to make your vehicle work more. All depends on the tow rating and the power of your vehicle.

Why don't you use the 2-bunk mattresses and put them under your bed area. Might make it more comfortable. You are only using the bunks for storage anyway. Get 2- cheap rug runners for the bunks to protect the wood. That is a great floor plan! Enjoy.

There are different models that come with with accessories so the price will vary depending on how much add on you want or not. If you are looking for one just write down everything you need and don't need then look up what accessories the camper has to offer. For me it has been doing very well. A couple things here and there come about but nothing to make me give up lol. It is small and has every amenitie that you would need. Of course this depends on the living situation as well. I'm a single guy with no pets so all the whopping 30 Sq ft I don't have to share lol it's only 17 ft so it's definitely not for everyone but I enjoy it. The winter last year wasn't bad at all it so small that when you turn on the furnace it only takes maybe 5 to 10 minutes and it's warm already. Jayco did an amazing job for quality and well designed camper. Remember their is no camper built to live full time in but sence we have nomadic and wild hearts we make it happen 🙂 if your living on your own and don't mind a small space and want a awesome camper that is capable of many things including off-road buy this one I am very satisfied.

What Vancey is saying if your ever unplugged from the campsite you need over 200 watts of solar for the fridge. When your plugged in at the campsite your at now, there is a converter that is converting the AC power to DC for your refrigerator and is charging your camper battery. You seem like a great guy, you’ll probably need more solar if you every leave the campground. You could test this out by unplugging your camper and see how long your refrigerator will run.

@@slalomking So currently I have been on the road full time and boon docked twice already. I have a 50 watt panel running from my truck to my truck battery and then the camper hooked up into the truck. so far so good running the fridge and freezer. Also ran my 12v heater in the camper. Granted I am planning on getting solar panels eventually for my camper here soon though because I can't always run off just the battery's. Here and there is ok but the goal is to get solar for my camper eventually. Yes though even when I am not hooked off of shore power the fridge and freezer does good. I had my camper parked out of my parents house for 2 days and my fridge and freezer did great off the batteries. I do appreciate the communication on here though I always learn new things from everyone and there insights. Thanks man.

I have this trailer as well. Got mine back in February. Beleive it, or not I tow this thing with a 2011 Nissan Frontier SV 4X4 (with WDH, sway bar, break controller, and a scanguage to monitor my transmisson temps). With 1/3 fresh water, and all my gear it only weighed 4500 lbs (I can take it up to 4995 lbs GVWR) on a CAT scale with room to spare. Super light tongue weight. As long as you take it easy it is towable in a mid sized truck. If i was to go full time I'd probably use a 1/2 ton truck though, but like I said if you take it easy (get there when you get there) not a problem at all in a mid sized truck. I just use it for weekend warrior, and it's fully sustainable for a week of hunting ANYWHERE! It's basically a little house on an off road chassis. Mine came with a 190W solar panel, and 2 batteries. I can run everything except the Microwave, and AC for ever it seems like (as long as the Sun is out). This thing is a boondocking powerhouse! I installed a flip up counter top to add a little more counter space. This thing sleeps 4 of us comfortably, and having a full bathroom with a good sized shower is what sold us on this. It's just really nice to have. I live in the Southwest where temperatures go from really hot in the summer to really cold in the winter, and Azdell is a game changer. It just handles the elements like nothing. It's strong, and probably why they can make these things light as a feather. Just thought I'd share my experiance with it. I just love this trailer, and the fact that I can take it literally anywhere I want to. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do Happy Camping. 👍
