I had a new '72 Z1 and a '77 KZ 1000. Both were great bikes. The Z1 was a little squirrely at speed.I now have a '22 RS and a regular Z900. I'll tell you for sure, these bikes are superior in every way. The old bikes looked good. Try and find parts for these things. Good luck. I used to bring the '72 to the dragstrip, until the clutch basket disintegrated. They were tough bikes, but not like the new ones.

I have a 21 cafe, and I can tell you you’ll absolutely love this bike. I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan until I saw one in person and literally bought it on the spot. In some ways I’d wish they’d done something bonkers for the 50th like put a zx10rr motor in it or an H2 just to match what a benchmark of what the Z1 did to the motorcycle world, but still, in my opinion this is the perfect bike as far as styling meets performance. I get more compliments on this bike than any sport bike I’ve had, and about the same as my 81 GPz but that’s just because it’s a surviver. Congrats bro. 5th gear is a friggin beast

Thanks so much! I'm really looking forward t putting some miles on the bike this year. I agree that Kawasaki missed an opportunity to really go above and beyond with this one, however I'm still ecstatic about owning one all the same.

I just bought a 2022 Cafe model....its not much fast than my 78 KZ 1000! No power band at all. Yes it rides better and looks great. It corners better than the KZ 1000. But for the price more power please!!

I just bought a z900 cafe. I came in asking if they had one. They said yes as a matter of fact we do, it just came in and is still in a crate. I asked what color and verified it was what I wanted and I said I will take it. Great bike, but I didn't think to keep the crate

Congratulations. Hope you got to keep the "crate". Remember my 1980 Z500 being removed from the then wooden crate and helping to fit the front wheel clocks etc and seeing it setup. Do they still have a printed assembly and setup manual?
@PetesClassicCycle2 жыл бұрын
I got the crate!! I don't recall seeing an assembly manual, except the mechanic has done so many he could have done it with his eyes closed. Not that it needed much assembly.

Wow! Congratulations Pete, that's fantastic. I've heard great things about that dealership. I have a 2018 Z900RS I bought at Inglis Cycle in London; those guys are fantastic too, I've been dealing with them for 20 years. Do you know the availability of the new 50th anniversary. Scarce as hen's teeth?
@PetesClassicCycle2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You'll have to fill me in on any tips or quirks etc on the bike. Only 50, 50th, bikes came into Canada. In the US it was the same ratio of bikes:dealerships being 1:4 so approximately 250-300 50th bikes in the US

sadly had to pass on this bike, had a 1976 KZ900, watched them unbox it also. A t 6'3" and my left hip issues the 2022 didn't work for me. Wish Kawasaki had mounted the pegs a little further forward. They did a great job on the retro look though
@PetesClassicCycle2 жыл бұрын
I'm also 6 3 and agree it is a tiny bit cramped. I might look for a flatter seat to allow my to slide backwards a bit to help compensate.

I Love the z900rs but man the colors on this 50th anniversary edition are just all over the place. Red, Black, Gold, Chrome, Brushed Aluminum,.... I dunno what they were thinking on this one. Just my opinion tho. It's still a beautiful bike but I'd rather have any other color scheme.
@PetesClassicCycle2 жыл бұрын
I'd have to agree with you. I ended up ordering a bunch of new parts to help dial down the different colours. I haven't installed them yet but will post an upgrade video when I do.

Overpriced for what you get. Give it a quickshifter and cruise and I’ll buy one. Until then, Yamaha has the better bike. At least they still build it in Japan unlike the Z900 which is Thai built and you can tell.

I can understand some of what you say. The z900rs thought is still Japan built...to my understanding
