I put those fumoto valves on a project I did for someone. He never changed the oil because you had to drop a 200lb skid plate to do it. Now with that valve and a tube, it’s easy peasy. Nice work as usual.

Hey Ferrell, I still do everything by hours. The new heavy haul I have is every 250 now because it's rated at extreme service. The old rule of when it uses a gallon it's time, seems to be true. Nice to see you have a channel, found you this morning

Early shouldn't hurt. We ran amsoil 5w40 fully synthetic with their add on filters on Our 92 Mack CH. Only changed filters at 10-12000 Highway miles . With Oil samples sent to lab. I think it took 5-6 qts to fill filters when changing. Also ran 7/90ep in rear ends. The truck would roll free on those negative 20-30 degree mornings when leaving home heading west. Enjoy your channel Farrel. As meticulous as you are. That truck is good for many years of service.

I did notice that the oil pan seems to have 3 drain plugs, 1 at the front of the oil pan, 2nd at the side of the large section of the oil pan, then it seems to be a 3rd right at the bottom of the large section of the oil pan, putting valves on the oil pan is a old school trick it was once the in thing to have from the factory in the very early year's of car's. The KW is looking good and doing a oil change every 10,000 to 12,000 is better than factory as the recommended interval is a average use of the vehicle over 12 months. Using a slightly heavier oil when running the engine harder and longer idling, another important thing is to reduce the amount of particulates going into the intake of the engine, the idea that exhaust gasses and oil, water and fuel mix vapours going into the intake of an engine makes it more efficient is bogus, it makes the engine work harder and run hotter as more fresh fuel is needed to keep the engine running smoothly. This is my thoughts on it, every one has the right to agree or to disagree. Love to all, keep the rubber side down and the shinny side up and we will see you on the back haule brother.
@FourthOver2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Philip, for the input, always good to get some other thoughts on things. You are right there are a lot of drain plugs in the pan for some reason, I guess for different applications. Thank you for watching.

I’ve got the same truck except my is 525 hp. I’ve changed my 3 times so far at about 10-12 thousand miles. Seems to work ok. 11 gallons Seems to not fill it alway up. Paccar water separator is a different story We’ve been changing it about 5000 miles I do construction lowboy work. Petty good truck except for squeaky hood. Really good turning radius and good power The AG46 seems to stand up good under heavy loads curvy roads. I believe the w900 is better built truck but for day cab I really enjoy that big cab. Great work on the videos.

Thanks for the information, Kevin. 11 gallons put this one right at the line above the hash marks, I imagine each engine a little different. I've heard that on the fuel filter, but I haven't had any trouble with this one or the old one. I do run in a warmer climate, not sure if that helps. My hood is really heavy to get open too, I use white grease every week on it. This week I put tire mounting soap on it, I heard somewhere to use it, so I thought I'd try it. I agree on the W900 be built better, Thanks for the great comment and for watching.

I'm jealous of how clean everything stays! We err on the side of caution with early oil changes too, especially during the winter months. I'm looking forward to whenever KW builds our new truck, I've driven our other '20 KW once with the new motor and it's incredibly smooth when rolling and feels a bit stronger than my '14.
@FourthOver2 жыл бұрын
I've been loading right on the pavement lately, so the truck stays pretty clean. What model KW you have coming? This one runs a little better than my 14 did but I almost think the jake was better on the 14 than this one. Thanks for watching

We ordered a W900L aero day cab. 565, 18spd, 3.73s. I'm not sure if they went 2050, I believe our '20 is. My 14 is an 1850. I have heard that the emissions is less intrusive when you're driving, which is something I'm looking forward to.

We have settled on changing the oil at 10,000. We do so much stop and go. Have been using Castrol semi synthetic 15/40. How are you liking the 3.23 gearing? Probably will be on Hazel more now that we're back on the Bickfird ranch job there at the end of Sierra College. Hope to see you soon!

Ok thanks for the info Ed. I see they are back building that subdivision, hopefully I'll run across you down there. I'm running 3.58 ratio and it's ok, but I think it's a bit too fast for me, I should have stuck with the 3.73. I'll get it right on the next truck! Maybe. Thanks for watching.

I just bought a used truck with one of those drain valves. I don’t trust them. I figured I would replace it with a regular plug at the next oil change. How do you like the more modern cab so far?

I always wanted to get those Fumoto valves but never got around to it...don't have to deal with that stuff anymore...Did you prefill your oil filter? Do you take weight off your kingpins to grease them? Early oil change can't be a bad idea for a new motor...

Hey Bruce, yes, I did prefill the filter. I usually put about a half-gallon in it. I should have mentioned that. And yes I jack up the front end when I grease it. Thanks for watching.
