Is it just me or is Kia fast becoming a more desirable brand than many of the so called "premium" brands from Europe? The sheer speed with which they have progressed their products is almost terrifying! I honestly think at this rate within the next 5-10 years they will be the all round market leaders. I even prefer the design of this EV6 to the Tesla 3... this is far, far nicer inside. The GTS model should have them worried!

Hyundai & Kia are kicking butt with their current cars. Their electric cars will stomp Tesla for reliability and after sales service too ! That said, the EV6 is far too heavy...

The Model 3 looks very anonymous. It is however, another proposition as a more sporty sedan. This is a Model Y competitor. Tesla does packaging very well as well though.

I've driven the ioniq 5 and sat in the EV6 (not driven it yet). I already found the ioniq 5 very impressive to drive and was even more impressed by its interior space and minimalist interior design. The kia inside is definitely more driver oriented, has more buttons, sits lower, sportier all round, but not for me. The ioniq is more the family car of the two, the kia more the drivers car i think.

I test drove the Ioniq 5 yesterday and was impressed by pretty much everything. I wanted to get the EV6 but haven’t had much info locally. I put a down payment and ordered the Ioniq5 …….. and then of course I get an email today from my local Kia dealer. They’re starting to take deposits for orders for the EV6 delivery late summer 2022. Could you share your thoughts on the overall comfort, driving position comparing both cars. I’ve been an SUV for the last 10 years and don’t want to find myself in a low riding car. The Ioniq was fine, did you find the EV6 that much lower?

Annoys me when motoring journalists when reviewing a Kia always say something like 'its a lot of money for a Kia' or in some other way look down their noses at Kia because of car's in their past. Tim is by no means the worst i thought it was a good balanced review but I bring it up because of the car he drives. You never hear journalists mention Skoda in the same way and yet they were responsible for the Estelle . 😳

Branding is an important thing though. It's a capitalistic mentality I guess. Kia and Hyundai are simply not brands that people show off with. There's a premium that we'll known brands have even though I'd say that's not fair

I love EVs and have driven many but Hyundai and Kia have definitely grabbed the EV bull by the horns and have run with it. Their converted ICE cars are fantastic and the ground up ones are even better….even if it’s on the GiMP skateboard platform……I love the EV6. We need the expensive models to fund the entry level ones (sub £20k) but they are coming

Coming from previous Nissan Leaf Owner it's crazy seeing 45 kW charging at 90% since that's usually the max I get at ever get with Chademo. I do think the Leaf is a very practical car for daily driving, but these cars are impressive for longer drives, assuming the weather isn't too cold and they let us pre warm the battery in a future update, which I think they will. I do think it would save you some time if you only charged your car up to 80% instead of going up to 90%, but 9 additional minutes isn't too bad if you just want the extra range before charging again.

If you do a little survey of who are the drivers that are faffing around taking forever to park in any mall carpark it is always the drivers trying to back into their chosen parking space. Great review. I think a lot of people are here because they are considering the Kia and Hyundai side by side. This covers the nuances of both. I'm torn between the two. I like the sportiness and what sounds like the slightly better ride quality of the KIa. But I love the looks and sheer audacity of the Ioniq 5 for daring to be different. Tim, you are the L'enfant terrible and disruptor of the KZbin car journo community. Is there some kind of car etiquette or rule that stops you wearing a Honda t-shirt in a Kia review? I hope so. And I hope you continue to break such rules. If they exist. (which they don't).

I have the Ioniq 5 (in Norway), and a Kia e-Niro and both of them have Android Auto (and that apple thing). So not sure what you mean when you said Android Auto is not available for the Ioniq 5? There are two annoying things with Android Auto in the Ioniq 5 though; 1. You have to use a usb cable for it to work 2. you don't get navigation directions on the HUD

Ev6 and Ionic 5 totally different Ev6 a lot more better, no people driving to review on the rainy day, but we did! On the rainy day Ionic5 the camera was so bad you can see water on the screen because the Real Camera is standing out! But Ev6 hasn’t been seen. Come back to Ionic 5 again, it had noisy from the doors 2 front doors, for new car shouldn’t have it! Screen is poor quality the alphabet a bit berry! Ionic 5 was Very very disappointing me! Ev6 was no complaining at all so good then Ionic 5 EV6 really really quiet when you driving, and so comfortable seat , we had the other car that is Mercedes Benz E200d (2018) And I can tell you when you sit in the passenger seat or you driving that EV6 so comfortable same as my Mercedes Benz anyway the camera was not same quality but the other thing for me to complain was none! We bought EV6 yesterday! Congratulations to me 😂😂after we trying to go and driving so many brand-new cars for 2 months! 🎉🍾 hooray!! 😃

Isn't that a question you can ask for just about every car out there? Why that car when you can get say a better looking car? Or one with better mpg? Or one with better range? Or one that looks better? Or one that has more space? Or one that's higher up? Or a brand that's reliable? Or a car that's fast? People have choice and that's a good thing.

@@UnseenSpirit The main buying point for most people is number of toys for the same price and with EVs the charging network makes a big difference. So I bought the Kia Soul EV because it was £13k less expensive than the Tesla Model 3. But the Kia EV6 is so close in price to the Model 3 that you might as well buy the model 3, which has a better reputation, has more kudos and has more upgrade capabilities. The EV6 looks like a poor brother to the Model 3 and I would have expect a reviewer to tell me why I would buy something inferior for the same price. but maybe I am expecting too much from people who make a living from reviewing cars on KZbin, as I'm only a car buyer

@@basilkearsley2657 depends on what you want but for me, I can't go for a saloon. I've not driven either vehicles, but my lifestyle means I have one car that is a commuter (78 miles a day for work). I also do that distance or more to visit friends and relatives so I like to have a good mpg car and with a good range (I have a Toyota prius). My car is an all rounder so I use it to buy plants for my garden (yes my wife loves gardening and we buy trees & plenty of plants etc... Although we will soon run out of land lol. We recently had a refurbishment so the prius took a lot of loads to the recycling centre as well as took 220 cm long ikea cupboards which was quite impressive! We also prefer stay cations in the UK using air bnb (2 or 3 times a year if we can) and a trip abroad (although it's been 2 years since we have flown away). So the vehicle should be too small. The prius has been so reliable for us and I do have range anxiety at 100 miles (a 40 litre tank gives me 600+ miles in the summer and 550 miles in the winter). I'd go for the ev6 purely based on the hatchback style. I always prefer to have the option of more than less. Its the way I'm built. I'm one of those people who have 7 rusacks for different situations or 20 plus knives, 10 plus torches etc... A long hatchback style car suits some over others. I had a 2017 Nissan qashqai before and it was nice to be higher up, but the boot wasn't that long and more tall. It just didn't fit large 200 litre plant pots in well etc... And I had to take my front wheel off my road bike even with seats down. (I do bike rides of 70 to 100 miles so drive home with it in the car) The prius hasn't needed me to take the front wheel off. I've not looked into either vehicle enough to put a value on them so my view isn't necessarily good for anyone else of course.

@@UnseenSpirit You miss my point entirely. These reviewers are saying the EV6 is a great car, but it's the same price as a model 3, which is the pack leader. If they are recommending a car over another one that is SOOOO much better, they need to lay out their reasoning
@UnseenSpirit
@UnseenSpirit 2 жыл бұрын
@@basilkearsley2657 my point is, they are both EV's but one is a saloon and the other closer to a SUV. Would you compare an ICE saloon to a SUV if they are the same price point or would you not compare two SUV'snto each other and 2 Saloons to each other? For example I wouldn't look at an Audi Q5 and then say its a great car and then go, oh but for this price, there is another great car which is the Mercedes E class. Unless I'm missing something anyway.

@TimRodieDrivesStuff
@TimRodieDrivesStuff 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'd go RWD because in the real world you don't need the acceleration of the dual motor, and you'll get more range I presume. And I'm not sure, but most cars will lock the cable when the car is locked so miscreants can't bugger about with it

I think you are missing a key point, that there are far more people (beside those that have expensive new TVs on order) who think that spending $47k-60k for a vehicle is way too much. I refuse to spend that much for any vehicle; whether it is ICE or EV. The "new world" you refer to is not the real world, except perhaps in your bubble.

I wouldn't say it's on the same level as proper luxury brands, they will certainly steal some customers based on value alone but the attention to detail in luxury marques does set them apart; it's the little things. But when you can smoke a $300,000 supercar off the line in a $60,000 electric wagon, it forces those luxury brands to really up their game!
@UnseenSpirit
@UnseenSpirit 2 жыл бұрын
Well I don't think so on the point that a 60k electric car will smoke a 300k car in terms of upping their game. Yes BEV's can be fast, but it's still a Kia etc... When I worked in my brothers jewellers, he told the Rolex rep that this particular model wasn't great at telling the time. The rep said, do you think people buy a Rolex to tell the time? People buy a super car for the speed a bit, but also to show off. That's the beauty of cars or we would all get the same car if it was just speed, or the best mpg etc... Brands matter
