Is it just me or is Kia fast becoming a more desirable brand than many of the so called "premium" brands from Europe? The sheer speed with which they have progressed their products is almost terrifying! I honestly think at this rate within the next 5-10 years they will be the all round market leaders. I even prefer the design of this EV6 to the Tesla 3... this is far, far nicer inside. The GTS model should have them worried!

I've driven the ioniq 5 and sat in the EV6 (not driven it yet). I already found the ioniq 5 very impressive to drive and was even more impressed by its interior space and minimalist interior design. The kia inside is definitely more driver oriented, has more buttons, sits lower, sportier all round, but not for me. The ioniq is more the family car of the two, the kia more the drivers car i think.

Coming from previous Nissan Leaf Owner it's crazy seeing 45 kW charging at 90% since that's usually the max I get at ever get with Chademo. I do think the Leaf is a very practical car for daily driving, but these cars are impressive for longer drives, assuming the weather isn't too cold and they let us pre warm the battery in a future update, which I think they will. I do think it would save you some time if you only charged your car up to 80% instead of going up to 90%, but 9 additional minutes isn't too bad if you just want the extra range before charging again.

But why would you get this and not the Tesla Model 3 which is about the same price, but with the model 3 you can buy autopilot
@UnseenSpirit2 жыл бұрын
Isn't that a question you can ask for just about every car out there? Why that car when you can get say a better looking car? Or one with better mpg? Or one with better range? Or one that looks better? Or one that has more space? Or one that's higher up? Or a brand that's reliable? Or a car that's fast? People have choice and that's a good thing.

@@UnseenSpirit The main buying point for most people is number of toys for the same price and with EVs the charging network makes a big difference. So I bought the Kia Soul EV because it was £13k less expensive than the Tesla Model 3. But the Kia EV6 is so close in price to the Model 3 that you might as well buy the model 3, which has a better reputation, has more kudos and has more upgrade capabilities. The EV6 looks like a poor brother to the Model 3 and I would have expect a reviewer to tell me why I would buy something inferior for the same price. but maybe I am expecting too much from people who make a living from reviewing cars on KZbin, as I'm only a car buyer

@@basilkearsley2657 depends on what you want but for me, I can't go for a saloon. I've not driven either vehicles, but my lifestyle means I have one car that is a commuter (78 miles a day for work). I also do that distance or more to visit friends and relatives so I like to have a good mpg car and with a good range (I have a Toyota prius). My car is an all rounder so I use it to buy plants for my garden (yes my wife loves gardening and we buy trees & plenty of plants etc... Although we will soon run out of land lol. We recently had a refurbishment so the prius took a lot of loads to the recycling centre as well as took 220 cm long ikea cupboards which was quite impressive! We also prefer stay cations in the UK using air bnb (2 or 3 times a year if we can) and a trip abroad (although it's been 2 years since we have flown away). So the vehicle should be too small. The prius has been so reliable for us and I do have range anxiety at 100 miles (a 40 litre tank gives me 600+ miles in the summer and 550 miles in the winter). I'd go for the ev6 purely based on the hatchback style. I always prefer to have the option of more than less. Its the way I'm built. I'm one of those people who have 7 rusacks for different situations or 20 plus knives, 10 plus torches etc... A long hatchback style car suits some over others. I had a 2017 Nissan qashqai before and it was nice to be higher up, but the boot wasn't that long and more tall. It just didn't fit large 200 litre plant pots in well etc... And I had to take my front wheel off my road bike even with seats down. (I do bike rides of 70 to 100 miles so drive home with it in the car) The prius hasn't needed me to take the front wheel off. I've not looked into either vehicle enough to put a value on them so my view isn't necessarily good for anyone else of course.

@@UnseenSpirit You miss my point entirely. These reviewers are saying the EV6 is a great car, but it's the same price as a model 3, which is the pack leader. If they are recommending a car over another one that is SOOOO much better, they need to lay out their reasoning
@UnseenSpirit2 жыл бұрын
@@basilkearsley2657 my point is, they are both EV's but one is a saloon and the other closer to a SUV. Would you compare an ICE saloon to a SUV if they are the same price point or would you not compare two SUV'snto each other and 2 Saloons to each other? For example I wouldn't look at an Audi Q5 and then say its a great car and then go, oh but for this price, there is another great car which is the Mercedes E class. Unless I'm missing something anyway.

I am test driving the ev6 when my dealer gets his tester. It should have been in September but due to no drivers for the truck it has been delayed till November. Can you answer two questions for me 1 I have a dilemma RWD or AWD 1 When the charging cable is in the ev6 and the car is locked, can anyone remove the cable
@TimRodieDrivesStuff3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'd go RWD because in the real world you don't need the acceleration of the dual motor, and you'll get more range I presume. And I'm not sure, but most cars will lock the cable when the car is locked so miscreants can't bugger about with it
@matthewpowell27443 жыл бұрын
Charging cables have always locked while charging since 2nd gen Nissan Leaf. I.E. ZE0 type 1 plugs can be removed while charging.

I think you are missing a key point, that there are far more people (beside those that have expensive new TVs on order) who think that spending $47k-60k for a vehicle is way too much. I refuse to spend that much for any vehicle; whether it is ICE or EV. The "new world" you refer to is not the real world, except perhaps in your bubble.

Japanese and Korean cars are seriously upping their game. New BMW are so boring and ugly in comparison, but they still charge a lot more.
@AFJDM3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it's on the same level as proper luxury brands, they will certainly steal some customers based on value alone but the attention to detail in luxury marques does set them apart; it's the little things. But when you can smoke a $300,000 supercar off the line in a $60,000 electric wagon, it forces those luxury brands to really up their game!
@UnseenSpirit2 жыл бұрын
Well I don't think so on the point that a 60k electric car will smoke a 300k car in terms of upping their game. Yes BEV's can be fast, but it's still a Kia etc... When I worked in my brothers jewellers, he told the Rolex rep that this particular model wasn't great at telling the time. The rep said, do you think people buy a Rolex to tell the time? People buy a super car for the speed a bit, but also to show off. That's the beauty of cars or we would all get the same car if it was just speed, or the best mpg etc... Brands matter
