With the amount that dealers are upcharging (in Canada) for anything hybrid…you’ll never save the difference in fuel costs. Even at todays fuel prices it doesn’t add up, even if you don’t count the interest on that extra amount.

$70K for a KIA, crikey! Remember when KIAs were cheap?

70 is crazy BUT i did end up picking one for $45G in the hawaii for the fully loaded version. My wife wanted the a lexus RX but with the lack of the third row and a price tage of upwards of 65G for a similarly spec'd vehicle, yeah thats not gonna happen.

My biggest gripe of todays reviewers, they ALL want all vehicles to perform like sports cars. Just because a minuscule percentage can go 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds does not mean it needs to.

Previous gen Sorento I can get around 6l per hundred on the highway...Ive seen the current diesel down to 5.5 on the highway.....what is the advantage of this?
@CarSauce2 жыл бұрын
That’s the thing, the diesel is 100% the way to go for highway drivers! If you are around town 99% of the time, this will be advantaged because of the short bursts of electricity at lower speeds… but it’s a lot more in price for not a lot more in real world outcomes!

@@CarSauce Stop driving it like a hoon and you would see way better fuel use. "Oh wow look how much it uses" as Matt does 0-100 5 times flat out full revs in a row and keeps it in sports mode. "I mean, I've been driving it like an idiot"

@@CarSauce I actually like 95% of your review. But the whole premise you make of it not making any sense because it is not fuel efficient enough to justify the cost is just clickbait. I am not sure how you can review what is suppose to be an economical car, drive it like you stole it and then complain it is not efficient. I agree, you should buy the diesel if you are doing highway driving a lot or live in the country side, but what a lot of people who just do city driving, school run etc a diesel may not suit so it is this vs the V6, so then this starts to make a lot of sense. So take it easy on the Melbourne lattes and ether drive it a bit more calm or accept if you drive it hard, yea it is more thirsty.

Where to start? If you constanty drive shorter distances with the diesel you will murder the DPF. So HEV or PHEV. If you don't want to spend 5000€ more in Europe then HEV. If you get a grant from your local government and you have a possibility to charge then probably PHEV. My Diesel Sorento 3 used 7.5L on my daily commute. My Proceed GT the same but petrol. Let's see where my HEV lands. Thanks for the video, one of the not so boring car revues.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@SuperMattb172 жыл бұрын
No issue with the DPF doing short distances. Just go for a longer drive once a month. Had several of the 2.2 diesels and yet to see an issue.
@rhyschapman28612 жыл бұрын
@@SuperMattb17 And that's the issue, you exactly said and said no issues. "No issues doing short distances". "Go for a long drive once a month". The issue is the fact you have to do this because DPF don't like short distances....
@SuperMattb172 жыл бұрын
@@rhyschapman2861 lol...it isn't like I write in the diary when to go for a longer drive....It just happens. Going for a trip somewhere...drive in the country...hit a freeway. Like I said - NO issues.

@@SuperMattb17 yes you are correct, it's just that some people don't. When I went for my 1st MOT with the Sorento thet was an elderly couple with their Renault of the same age as my Sorento and the couldn't pass the emissions test. Turned out lots of short trip and never any longer ones.
@rhyschapman28612 жыл бұрын
@@emersonmsd 100% I know a lot of people who don't go for a regular highway run, myself included. I would have to go out of my way to do so, making it an issue.
