2022 Kia Sportage Right Rear Door Panel And Complete Door Disassembly To Install New Glass

Hello everyone. In this tech tip video, I'm gonna walk you through the complete tear down of the right rear door to facilitate installing a new window glass. This will cover the interior door panel, door handle and door latch assembly, and the under panel that houses the window regulator. So, one start to finish that covers a lot of aspects, to help you possibly achieve multiple projects. This should cover similar year models, and might apply to other years. It's much easier if you leave the cables hooked to the door latch, leave the latch in place, and just pull the cables through the holes in the panel they were originally installed in. Simplifies thongs for me anyway. My issue with this project was the replacement regulator bracket did not correctly fit the plastic window bracket. Typical Kia. Use a grinder or cutting torch to cut the bracket to fit, and if you're lucky enough your vehicle will catch fire and be a total loss, saving you from any future typical Kia hassles.

This was excellent. I needed to get to the outside skin from the inside to do body repair from contact with a grocery cart with my 2023 Sportage. Can you advise if the skin is plastic or metal? I'm thinking metal. Again, great job. Excellent video.

Hi John. Thanks so much for the comment and the compliment. I'm so glad it helped. I didn't do any metal work on this particular vehicle, so I wasn't paying attention to the makeup of the door. I am however, 99% sure it's metal, just based on memory. As for your body repair, as much as I'm a fan and a supporter of doing things yourself, I do recommend a good paintless dent removal tech for small dent repairs like that. It takes good training and many years to become proficient in this process. If you ever tuned into my earlier videos, I explained that that's what do, and how I became as knowledgeable about all of these tech tips I advise on. Again, I'm all for doing things yourself, unfortunately doing PDR incorrectly, can sometimes cause it to become even more unsightly, and sometimes even cause more damage. I wish you luck either way. Is that the same way to Remove the Door Lock? I have a 2017 Kia Sport age my door won,t open from outside & Inside. Any advice will help.

Hi. Thanks for the question. It's very difficult to assess your repair, without seeing it and having hands-on. But I believe the answer should be yes. I think the hardest part is going to be, that you will need to remove the door panel, without having the door open, and as a result, you will not have the space to do so. It May benefit you to remove the seat closest to the door panel you will be removing. Once you access behind the door panel, you'll discover whether the problem lies with the interior door latch, or if it's further out in the door latch assembly. I wish I could advise more.
