I currently own the 2018 maxima platinum. My Maxima is a very fun car to drive. The only thing I will say is that I wish that the Maxima did not have the CVT tranny. But after having this car for a few years, I have gotten use to it. It is just amazes me that the Maxima has a 3.5 Liter V6 while the Stinger GT 2 has 3.6 liter V6 yet only has 68 more horse power than the Maxima plus you are paying $14K more for the stinger just to get only 68 extra horses. I will stick with my Maxima. I like the Stinger GT don’t get me wrong, but you are paying an extra $14K for 68 extra horses with a car that practically has the same engine as the maxima. I’ll stick with my Maxima Platinum.

You are also getting 115 ft/lbs of torque. I’ve had a maxima and now a Stinger. The maxima really needs an engine upgrade and an AWD option. That is what it is missing.

Maxima for the interior design that I love personally. The Platinum comes with wood grain on the dash and ventilated front seats. The Maxima if you think about it follows a similar aesthetic to the Dodge Charger, with that aggressive exterior and sporty approach, especially raw horsepower, but still has that comfortable family sedan quality.

Maxima for me just because I own a 16 Platinum and I also have a ‘10 G37x Coupe with 330 hp both naturally aspirated… Don’t get me wrong, forced induction is cool but will hurt in the long run!!! PS… You can’t compare a turbo KIA to one of the longest running engines on the market… VQ35DE

I have a 2021 maxima, and I love it, of course not as fast as the stinger, but I have my toy that’s 2007 mk5 gti stage 2 and that’s the one that eats lol. Now when the 400z is out compare that to the stinger. Everyone will just choose the Z. Cause it’s also v6 twin turbo. People love turbos lol. But I love the video man great job

Do yourself a favor and consider a Q50. That's what I did and have ZERO regrets! I'm a an avid Nissan person but looked into the Stinger and I'm glad I did. Kia has WAY too many problems with that car, mostly electrical (causing fires! 😬) and transmission. Stick with old faithful!

Here is what you get with a slightly larger than compact sized semi sports car vs a mid to full size sports sedan. You're right! Im a dad but still like to have fun. I salivate looking at those Hemi Powered Chargers and the noise they make. However, this is a good comparison between an entry sports car, like the Maxima, and a true four-door sports car like the Stinger. Don't get me wrong the Maxima is a fun car to drive but wished it was built a bit stronger like a sports car. Ive had the 95, 07, 12,14,16, and now 20 and I think it's time for a change! Good thing the Max is being retired.

I traded a Q60 in for my Stinger GT1 & don't regret it one bit!! Kia gives you a LOT MORE standard features and more HP of the lot. Do your research...Kia brought in designers from Audi & BMW to design this car. Love it!! GO test drive I've & you'll understand. Plus you don't see a 1000 Stingers every on the road so it's a head turner.

Maxima for me, it has a long, long… history of great comfort, performance, and dependability. The Maxima Platinum has chrome tips in some of the models. I love the growl and power of the Maxima, for the price point you can’t beat Nissan.

I've always liked the options for the money and styling of the Maxima. I owned one once in the early years and loved it. That V6 engine is bullet proof. However being a car guy most of my life, in my personal opinion, Nissan is committing suicide with their obsession with the CVT transmission. I can see it in smaller, economy and electric vehicles but not a Maxima. Its like putting a CVT in a Camaro. Yes, I know all about pollution, mileage regulations, and efficiency but, when you have to electronically "simulate" a regular automatic to try and be a sports car well, no. Then there are the lawsuits, reliability, and cost of ownership issues with their CVT. The track record doesn't seem good. Some will say I'm wrong but hey, that's my opinion and I gladly own it. I've passed on the Honda Accord, a beautiful car, and Subaru's for the same reason. CVT transmissions have their place but not in everything.

had a maxima a while back. It had terrible torque steer if you stepped on the gas. Have they corrected that, or is it still the same? The seats were very comfortable, but there was a lot of road noise.

To br fair also, the stinger isn’t quite the same you’d probably compare the stinger to like an infinity q45 or something. Maxima is basically a fwd 350z. Obviously less performance out of a fwd then rwd. The nissan has a vq35hr which is leaps and bounds more reliable. Kia is looking good and has come a super long way, but they don’t even stack up to Japanese superiority in the Asian car market even with the odds stacked against them.

My 17 platinum maxima was 41k MSRP and cost me 33k new . The GT1 was 47k and the GT2 53k. That’s a 14k- 19k price difference and they weren’t giving any deals on the Kia at the time.

Stingers can run high 10s on stock turbos, and the 8spd transmission is holding.. Not bad for a car that can fit a new 65 inch tv in its boot.

Just drove a rental Stinger GT for the last 2 weeks and now rented a Maxima SV. Here’s what I feel: -I love the sound on Stinger. Put it to Sports mode and you can hear the grumble and the roar. Downside is that it is an absolute fuel guzzler. Gave me 12-13mpg with my driving style. -Maxima has a super light steering. Maneuvering is great! Zips through turns like a charm. Would prefer this if you drive more in a city. Gives me about 21mpg. Stinger looks better, feels better but the maneuverability of the Maxima has me amazed. If I would have the extra money to put in for the price tag of Stinger And the fuel guzzling, I’d go for it. I would on most drives put my sound system off to hear the engine roar! But other wise, I think Maxima is a better bet. Depends on the kind of person you are.

I've been leasing a Maxima for 5 years. A 2017 Sr and now a 2020 Sr and Everytime I turn on the car I am in sports mode as it changes how it drives.. I am absolutely in love with the maxima, I have noticed over the years the cost cutting Nissan has done so I am glad I am only leasing however once this car is done I plan on actually financing a new max Sr as I can easily see myself driving it for the next 10-15+ years. It's funny before I got into my Max I leased an kia optima turbo and I loved it for the first year and then just hated how the dash and steering wheel and plastic just looked cheap and like all other Kia models... I am sure the stinger is not as cheap as the optima but I just can't get into kias anymore.. and the stinger has one of my biggest gripes with new car manufacturers, they get lazy and are just throwing ipads on dashboards nowadays. ... The maxima has such a sweet interior with possibly the last of it's kind with integrated touch screen. if I want solely performance I would look for a way cheaper stang or camaro or even save up and get a vette.... My list can go on and on The maxima minus the build quality is just such a nice car to drive and have not gotten sick of it yet... Although there is one car that I hope they bring to the states that I might consider buying once this lease is over... The VW Arteon R...

Me and my wife have a 16 SR and it's been amazing and honestly it feels like a sport sedan should. The cvt in sport mode shifts quick and smooth. The build quality is really nice actually! Compared to the camery and accord. It's on par with lexus and Acura. We love it its been good to us. Just change the cvt fluid every 30,000. And your fine. The xtronic cvt in the maximas isn't the problem matic ones from the past and it hauls. !

The problem is that Nissan has been declining in quality since the 2000's while the other Japanese brands haven't. Ask me whether id want an 2000 Kia or Nissan, it'd be Nissan all day, but today, its a different discussion. Kia/Hyundai understand modern cars, design, etc, Nissan is so behind. You might like your SR but if you got behind the wheel of a sports KIA you'd enjoy it more.

My '17 didn't have as many build issues as my '20.. so now sure what happened down there at the Tennessee plant but probably laziness.. my '20 is white and there is not one panel/gap that Is aligned correctly, pass door.. misaligned.. drivers.. misaligned, hood... Misaligned, gas cap... Misaligned... The doors squeak when cold, dash panels are popping off, glass panels on roof pop out of place, I can go on and on. The facelift of the maxima is sweet, it improves on lots of aspects of the car like the radio sucked in my 17 but the 20 is way better. And performance is not the only way to judge a car, Kia might have more performance but it looks like crap. The first thing you see in a car is a steering wheel and the stingers steering wheel is lifted from every other Kia with the cheap plastic air bag cover. Trust me I get performance but the interior is way inferior to the maxima. The maxima is comfortable and is a road trip car, I didn't hate driving my optoma t Canada years ago but I can tell you I wish I was in my Maxima for the 10 hour drive.

Stinger is actually a 3.3 twin turbo. Car is pretty under tuned by Kia because of the long warranty they offer with it. You can safely tune them to 450HP. In fact, they even sell a chip kit for it. Those Lamda II engines are pretty well built. Source: I own a 2018 Kia Stinger GT.

@@fredwilliams7893 I owned Infiniti cars for 15 years and Infiniti not the same anymore. As much as I like the Infiniti Q50 red sport, this one has to go to the Kia Stinger. From the versatility of its liftback design to its suite of available tech and safety features to Kia’s legendary warranty, it’s the better choice in practically every category. Yes, the Infiniti’s optional V6 is a fantastic engine, but the Stinger also offers a V6, and its absolutely superb and adaptable suspension makes it a blast to drive, whether you’re riding in comfort or attacking corners. If you don’t care for the liftback design, and you prefer the luxury touches of the Infiniti, the Q50 is a good choice, but for all other reasons, the Stinger’s the way to go in my opinion!

As an owner of a pre-owned car dealership, I need to chime in here. Which one should you buy and why? The Maxima. Two things that the Kia can't compare with the Nissan are quality, reliability, and resale value. I agree that the Stinger has more to offer but it's more expensive. They share some things in common but the leather will last longer in the Nissan for example. Kia and Hyundai's reputation gets worse every day. Here's something else that the Kia has more of.... Recalls and Fires. Don't just believe me, please do your online research. My dealership no longer even carries Kia and Hyundai products anymore. I can't say for sure on this Stinger, but the suspension is probably horrible. Most suspension in Hyundai or Kia is so hard it's uncomfortable and it breaks a lot too because it's cheap. The original complaint with the original Stinger was that the suspension couldn't handle the engine. Nissan's looks are getting better every year on the exterior but yes, they've always been behind on the electronic system and it's frustrating. They work well, but they are plain. That's why they offer the Infiniti. The more bells and whistles you have, the more stuff to go out. That's why Nissan holds a better resale value than Infiniti. The Maxima is a great car that'll last for a very long time. The 3.5L V6 has been around almost two decades because it's bulletproof. The Stinger has yet another new engine that will be stressed by having two turbos on it. I had a Sonata Turbo that produced 278HP and then every year since, the new model kept offering less and less HP. Now it has a 1.6 engine while the 2.0 is under complete recall. I'm not a sales rep for Nissan and this guy got this test car from Kia so he's biased, but hopefully you all will take my free advice and get the Nissan. You can get a nice Maxima for much less than $44K. The Altima SR is a car to consider as well. Get the Maxima for reliability and resale value plus comfort and you'll be much more happier.

If you're looking for a car that catches someone off guard in both style and performance the stinger. If you're wanting a more casual common daily and want to avoid attention definitely the maxima. I own a Stinger GT Limited myself and it's a great car, I don't drive it during the winter as it is my summer car since I've put in a lot of money to mod it I want the car to last. You cannot go wrong with the stinger other than their horrible choice of paint. KIA was never known to use great paint, they have great choices of colors but not the paint and their paint procedures lol. You will want to eventually get a new paint job on your stinger or get a clear bra, both of which will be expensive but will save you the stress later on. In terms of aftermarket support, remember the Stinger is still a brand new car, you're very limited on your selection of how you want to mod your car, most builds will be very similar to each other which is actually the great thing, lots of people have already done trial and errors on things so no worries there. You'll still have a blast on picking the parts you want on your Stinger if you plan on doing any modifications to it. What I've done to my Stinger so far was install BMS Intakes, MBRP Exhaust and JUN BL Downpipe. Upcoming Spring 2022 I will be putting my HKS Spark Plugs to get it ready for a tune which I will be taking it to a shop to see what is the best they can recommend without causing any issues. I was thinking of JB4 Tune which is an easy piggy back plug n play tune which does not cause any issues on your car so long as you aren't messing around with higher map tiers if your car isn't modified for it. My goal is to only reach upwards to probably 450 to 500 MAX on wheel horse power which is plenty enough as my is a RWD train, I could've opt'd to go with the AWD train but I wanted to save money and on top of that didn't want to add anymore weight to the car as it's already pretty heavy.

Id pick the Maxima as a daily, it's very nice inside and the quality is amazing. By any means the Maxima IS NOT A SPORTS CAR AT ALL. I don't think Nissan was going with "Sports car" on the Maxima when they were making it either For gods sake they even threw in the iconic trash cvt in it too lol. Now if I'm going with performance I'd choose the Stinger ALL DAY no comparison on performance.

I could never buy a Kia, they have improved over the years but some how they still can’t make a good engine,sure this 3.3 engine’s got lots of power and it’s fast but can that engine do 250,000 trouble free miles? I doubt it, if that Kia lasts 5 years without problems then you’re lucky. The Nissan however is much better but the CVT is a major let down, now if you change the transmission oil every 50,000 miles it might probably last quite long, but if they took the 8 speed automatic transmission from the new Pathfinder and put it in the Maxima then you have a car that could rival any Premium brand.

I'm not saying I would pick the Maxima but I would never pick the KIA. They are fine for the first few years then you can't keep oil in them as the just burn through it. My Forte started burning oil at 76,000 miles and my friends Sonata (both 2016's) is waiting for a new engine. My Ford's, GMC's, Chrysler's that have had 160,000 miles plus were better. I have had Nissans up to 90,000 miles with out issues but my Forte at 97,000 drinks oil. I would avoid unless you plan on selling it in 3 years.

Id stick to the Maxima. I have a Altima and tried a Kia, i didnt like the KIA it felt like i was in a box. Didnt feel sportsy inside at all. And the seats you can always adjust forward or back so not sure why thats even an issue. The stingers lcd screen is small compared to the maxima. And i feel like this was mainly to showcase the stinger which isnt really fair since the Nissan Maxima with all its feature addons cost and looks awesome after its installed. Should have just named this 'Kia Stinger Review' instead of Stinger vs Maxima especially since youre already putting more points mainly at the Stinger lol If all the Maxima addons were installed, im sure by looks, it would blow the stinger to the moon and still cost less. I would consider the stinger but i dislike the front grill and inside looks plain. Its exterior design kinda looks like it was made in 2010. But then again. I also own a Tesla Model 3 Performance so it beats both of these cars out of the solar system LOL.

Where do you see that the Maxima has a larger screen? The infotainment screen is considerably larger on the Stinger, and the cluster screen is the same size as the Maxima. The Maxima handles worse and is FWD and is weaker with much smaller and worse brakes.

The Maxima is a better car. The Maxima name has prestige to it and has been around since the 1980's. The KIA Stinger reminds me of a Mitsubishi Eclipse flashy and powerful but forgetful when time passes. Something tells me Nissan will put that Infiniti Q50 3.0t and AWD in the next gen Maxima.

They sell more they’re more reliable and have a better warranty! The only truth to your statement is it’s possible they’ll stop making them due to the cost of making them vs sells. However, who’s buying a Kia or Maxima using the justification of what history will say about the car in 10-15yrs?? The maxima was prestige in 1996 and prior!!! When Lexus and Infiniti started making vehicles in the same price point Maxima was an afterthought then!!! Oh and I had an 09 maxima but Prestige wasn’t coming to mind dealing with those transmission issue.
