Not sure when you where accelerating if you had it in EV mode or HIV mode . Even when having it in Sport+ if its in EV only mode you don’t get the max power. Press the little EV/HIV button next to the gear stick. You get the most power on HIV mode when it uses both petrol plus electric motors. Its 0-60 in around 6.2 seconds that’s pretty darn fast for the price range. Sports + only tightens up the steering and the suspension doesn’t give you more speed

As you both said at the end, it is a very important vehicle for Lexus especially when used primarily as a commuter which can be used for long distance cruising on weekends without having range anxiety from pure EV. 12 hour charge on a level 1 charge is perfect for those who don't want to (or can't) add a level 2 charger at home. Other luxury brands need to up their game for PHEVs to have at least as much EV range as the NX450h+.

Why wouldn’t you get a Level 2 installed? I just can’t understand your reasoning. It pays for itself in the gas you are saving. The cost to charge vs buying gas is so minimal. The most convenient charging is at home. Unless you have a barrier to charging, it doesn’t make sense and not very good advice. You need to at least talk to people who charge at home with a level 2.

Thanks for your comment, Janine. Since this is a plug-in hybrid and not a full EV, it will charge overnight on a household plug. A level 2 charger is therefore not strictly necessary to maximize electric driving if overnight charging matches with an owner’s driving style. Thanks for watching!

I would hate to be a 2nd or even 3rd tier car reviewer.and finally get one for a review after others had been doing reviews for months. It might be just best to pass unless you can do something that adds to the already existing reviews. By this time, most interested folks know the specs, the new screen, love or hate - steering wheel, sports seats and shift nob, etc. Yawn. How about a test of the headlights? Only one UT review on headlights lighting systems at night. And that was for only one of the trim level on headlight. Or real world MPG and MPGE- very little in this area. And real world PHEV charging experiences? Almost no reviews on quality/ease of use of sound system quality and sound system ease of use with CarPlay or Android Auto. Or navigation of Leux connect serviesvs vs the phone options? Just saying...
