The new routines are rough. I used to do gymnastics and was level 4 back in 2013 and I think the routines then make a lot more sense. A kip in level 4 is insane. Nonetheless, you’ve got a strong kid.

I think back then they started at level 4, on this past year they just changed to start at level 3. If I am not mistaking, this new level 4 use to be old level 5

You can push hard at that age that’s you you get better

Yes you can, and the burn out rates for gymnasts are high because of how many times 12 yos are pushed to be level 9/10s and then completely lose all passion for the sport

I competed against him last year in 2022 I was at that meet and I was L4D1 I could do a kip the mushrom stuff a back lever I was really good but these are toptier

I was told boys/men's don't do the mat. Does that vary gym to gym?

@@Baytona81 that's great. My son just got into it, and I wasn't sure. I asked a parent and they told me that boys don't do a floor routine. I guess they are misinformed.

In his rings route he has only did 3 swings after the skin the cat, ur supposed to do 5 swings then dismount
