i feel like gymnasts are THE ultimate athletes... seriously, they have to be fast, they have to be flexible, they have to be strong, they have to be fit, they literally have to be everything...maybe not THE best at everything but they possess pretty much all qualities of any sport. I just admire them so much. just so beautiful to watch too - both men and women gymnastics.

Unlike athletes in other sports where medics and teammates would come rushing towards you in case of an accident, gymnasts still have to finish their performance by standing up and doing their final pose even after falling into just few inches of foam. They are alone in the middle in their worst moment. Immense respect to them!

Chris Bearne no. We train years for a 2 minute round and if we fail it is the worst thing that can happen. Gymnastics is the same. Mentally & physically it is both hard.

myfavoritehorses Maybe for the horse it is mentally difficult. Everything in gymnastics is terrifying, they are whining their head around calculating where the floor is and when they need to open. That is why it is so hard. No offence to you, but it is simply my opinion that horse riding is not on the level that gymnastics is.

The video is about falls and crashes but the one great thing about these gymnasts that gets cut out almost all the time is when they get back on their feet and finish the performance. It's commendable how they get back up regardless of how bad or embarrassing their fall is. And they never overplay their injury like basketball or soccer players. They always try to finish.

What's sad is that these gymnasts have been training hard basically their whole life and go to the meet that they've been waiting for a long time (such as the Olympics) and when they go to do their routine that person might accidentally fall and they watch in distress as everyone beats that person and watch as their career flashes past them. It's happened to me before. I guess that's just how life goes. 😕

I think the worst crash i ever saw was during a one touch warm up at a meet. A twelve year old was doing a double back off of high bar. He pulled in and landed on the back of his neck on the bar, flipped once forward limp and his coach caught him. I thought he was dead. He competed later that day, and did the double back!

Parallel bars were my worst nightmare. The high bar can be scary and impressive but it lifts you up. The parallel bars hurt me so much.
