Man that was crazy!! The DSG makes all the difference in the world. I’ve got a manual Moonstone SE with an intake, actually the test car for Injen 😃 They dyno’d it and got 235 whp 😳 This car is fast and just wait for tunes to come out 💥

@@JVette01 I had an MKV GTI and R32 with the first DSG they offered and LOVED IT! Also had an MK7 GLI DSG, only for a few months before the ex-wife got it in our split haha. Couldn’t get the DSG this time, but it’s been a joy driving stick again after 18 years!!

That Ecoboost sounded bad, not dissing but when he went for the 2nd race and downshifted, it sounded like the race was already over. But nice that GTI stock is pretty quick

Great video. This car is expected with just a stage 1 tune on 93 on the engine and DSG transmission tune to be 300 WHP. I ordered same car last week. MK8 GTI S with DSG in King's Red. My son 's birthday/graduation gift. This will be his primary car, but I am excited too. BTW what fuel are you using?

@@JVette01 The car is designed for 87 and makes its power with regular for sure. 91 or 93 Octane will give you around 5 hp. Tested by Fifth gear on a MK6 GTI 35 th edition.

Wow! Your son is so lucky to have a generous parent like you. Now, I’m not sure where you live or what the laws and taxes are like, but here in Australia, the base model Mk8 GTI starts from $61,000 AUD (before on-roads) which is a price range that is out of reach for most people, especially for parents buying cars for their kids. In other words, it’s very expensive and I don’t think my doctor dad would even get it for me even if I continue at my current trajectory and achieve straight A’s. Ngl I am dead jealous of your son. Anyways, best wishes for him!

@@krackastudios Thank you for your kind words. I live in the USA, and we are not a rich family , but we are hard working law-abiding citizens. The base model is 35000 USD with tax, or ~50000 AUS dollars. The car will be on my insurance and it will go up 230 USD for 6 months. Not terribly bad. :) Here is the same in the state of Missouri and in this small city, it is not common for parents to buy this type of car, fast and relatively expensive for their kids. Since he lives in my house , he is willing to mow the grass front and back, cancel his car wash subscription and wash the car by himself. Also he will start a part time at GameStop during the weekends after college. He wants to help with the household expenses and buying gas for his GTi. I am ok with that, don't need his money but at least he will learn to be a responsible men.

Is anyone working on a tune for the dsg so that it doesn’t automatically downshift and upshoft in sport mode. I think there was one for the 7th Gen. I know the 330i has that standard. That would convince me to go dsg instead of 6mt

First off dude having his car tuned to 87 when they’re literally meant to use 93 stock is an idiot, first claiming “3,400lbs” then going up. A 2017 6R80 with 3/4 tank of gas weighs 3,690lbs (with him in it easy 3,800lb’s) and he is not even making 330 to the crank with his air filter and cheap ass tune. Other dude is tuned to 91 whip doesn’t make sense but Adam tunes conservatively and I doubt he’s actually FBO’s.

It could be based on trim. You never see them driving the base “S” trim. Maybe the autobahn or se trim has a higher limiter.
