Mongoose was the number one brand in my day. I’m glad to hear they are making a comeback. I’m purchasing a rebel x2 for my 8 year old. It looks like a very nice bike that he will have for years to come

So I grew up loving Mongoose and took a very hard look at the Legion and was considering it highly until I saw and compared the Kink Whip to them. I was glad you brought up the points you did in your edit about the Whip. For the options and price, the Whip was just hard to beat for a full built bike. I wish Mongoose had a little different pricing or more options for the money. Glad you did this one as I took a long look at them and I'm sure many others did as well

In the mid-to-late 90s Dennis McCoy rode for Mongoose. His signature bike was the Hooligan and later turned into the DMC. The good old days of the bash guard.

From what I see and maybe someone else brought it up in the comments but the Kink bikes don't have rear brakes but the Mongoose bikes have a rear brake which could also be the reason for the price difference.

What’s the 2021 L100 legion like? I think the chain is just a basic chain and should consider upgrading it? Think the wheels spokes can need tightening out of the box.

So when I was a little kid, mongoose was a Walmart brand, but they were significantly better then the Walmart “next” and “huffy” and Schwinns and junk like that. They had 3 piece cranks and 1 1/8 headsets and everything. Good Cheap bikes are necessary for bmx to grow.
@steve00alt702 жыл бұрын
The L100 is $461 as of right now. Would you recommend a beginner getting a decent spec bike like the L100 to start off with or get a beginner spec? Would the decent spec one motivate the beginner to keep at it? even tho its expensive. Or would a beginner spec one reduce the motivation? but its affordable.

Don't buy a complete bike, put that money towards parts. Complete bikes always have very poor thin paint jobs, hi-ten steel forks/frame which is thick and heavy. Complete bikes aren't even much cheaper, for a few extra hundred you can have a legit quality bike. Be patient with your custom build, it might take a year to get all the parts but it's so much more worth it.
