1983, I lived in Fort Wort Texas. I had a Mongoose Pro Class. On a Saturday I went swimming and broke my front teeth and seven stitches in the chin. Next day, I get home from the dentist with new teeth. I go ride my bike and decide to try to bunny hop my friend's bike. Standing up in a profile view. I had to get through the seat and bars. I did not make it. I broke a new tooth and added stitches while having to be treated for severe shock. My mother was very happy that weekend (RIP MOM).

I had a frame break in half and broke a couple teeth and split my chin. My grandma was sitting in the car while i rode and you should have seen her face when I walked up all bloody and messed up haha. Poor mom & grandma, they put up with a lot.

Got my first BMX bike yesterday, it was fully customized by previous owner with different parts and I love it, super light and durable. It's a premium products frame with 3in tires cult rims, and handlebar not sure but looks squared in a way and feels great, the seat though, needs cushion cause it be hurting my tushion.

I have the cloud complete. They’re wonderful bikes, worth every penny. Ive pretty much fully built mine, has a Blank chrome fork, Dark Chrome Transit v2 cranks, a Kink Eastman 28t guarded sprocket, and a Pace freecoaster. I also run yellow tires, it completes the look of the bike

Good list. Production values have improved a lot. Give you props on that Doug. I will say though that I would definitely rank the Battleship higher than the Broc Raiford Authentic. The frame is not heat treated. Whereas the Battleship is a fully after market Japanese Sanko heat treated frame. This and the more street oriented geo is what made me choose the Battleship over the Broc Raiford when I was shopping for a street specific bike.

GT was king 30 years ago. I just bought a new GT Pro Series and the quality has gone down hill but it's still a really fun bike for getting back on a BMX after all these years, and it was only $400, so hard to beat.

I just copped a 2023 Fit str cassette in black for 300$. I wouldn’t have even thought about it as a choice if it wasn’t for the insane sale. I think I’ll be well happy with it for the price

Back when I was a kid, I could of bought a GT Performer Pro for about $450. Even back then I thought paying $450 for a BMX bike was a rip off.

If you weren't willing to pay $450 back then for a BMX/Freestyle bike, that just means you weren't passionate about BMX, and besides the GT Performer Pro was a cheesy horrible bike. When BMX racing slowed down in popularity and BMX Freestyle took over, GT had a horrible time trying to fit in the freestyle world, they just didn't have it, their bikes were cheap and had no flavor.

Pretty solid review and list but I find it interesting that the list is actually top 11 Street BMX bikes. I also find it interesting that the word BMX has more or less become synonymous with Street BMX and if you tell someone you ride BMX they assume you ride street. Perhaps that is the most popular but I find it interesting because when I started riding back in the late 90s most people rode everything but primarily dirt and park/transition and those were the more popular competitions.

Great info but I disagree with the top 3 and I personally have the envy and soundwave. in 3rd should be the dark wave it’s pretty much identical to the soundwave with a little twist. In 2nd should be the soundwave it has several cons they did skimp out on some parts like the stem brake pads some of the machining has kinks and the assembly was a little more difficult like I had to configure the brake cable no problem for me but for others could be a headache in 1st should be the envy it’s only con is the warranty and slightly heavier than the soundwave that’s it everything single part down to the brake pads are some of the highest quality easy to assemble out the box

Fantastic coverage, as usual, Doug! Personally, I wouldn't change up the order you presented them. It amazes me how light the Darkwave complete is. I want to renew my Street Sweeper frame come the September sales (In Australia) but have a feeling I'll get a Soundwave frame instead.

Yea the Soundwave frame is amazing. BUT, it will be very different to what you're used to with the Street Sweeper. I got both a Soundwave and Battleship, but doing a manual for example is harder for me on the Soundwave.

@@LittleBigKid707b Yea, the change in geometry will certainly be noticeable but I have so many different bikes, I can adjust rather quickly. I have a Tall Order 315 with a 13.7" backend so it will be fine in comparison to that. So many frames, so little time! :P

I would like a bike recommendation but with one caveat. I grew up riding a 1986 Haro Sport. I like the Sunday Soundwave, but what I really like is how my Haro Sport felt long, but laid back. I don't know fork tube angle of the Sport, but do they make a newer bike like the Soundwave with a similar fork angle. I hated Dyno's because I always felt I was falling over the handle bars. The Haro Sport though just felt kind of laid back if you know what I mean.

John Hicks filmed most of their clips going 8 years back. They are still some some of the Baddest Bmx videos ever on KZbin. I know Doug really dislikes Tip Plus products but I think those riders deserve credit for building a huge bmx following during those years, those guys would sacrifice themselves falling 50 times just to get 1 good clip on the street.

Throne is too overpriced to bother with & looks like a kids bike w all those dumb streamers, similar to most SE. U can get better bikes for cheaper & DONT need these bmx bikes either if u aren't doing tricks. If just riding , a decent 24 in tire cruiser would be a better speed. JUST know that bmx is not good for cruising around cuz theres No gears.

I think the cloud may have the same frame as the aftermarket, I think the cloud aftermarket frame is low end for aftermarket frames, the bike and frame both list the same frame material where the Williams complete and frame have different material listings

They shouldn't use the same name if they r not using the same frame. It should differentiate between the to whether it says not after market frame or call it the kink cloud complete frame made with same materials to equal the quality to the cloud aftermarket frames!

It is not the same frame. The geometry is, but the actual quality is not the same. Why do people still struggle with this? Kink themselves have said that neither the Cloud complete nor Williams complete are the aftermarket frames.

Parts that can be purchased separately. So for example, low quality bikes come with general handle bars, the bars are mass produced, non heat treated, cheaply welded, and made for a lot of bikes. After market bars for example are the ones found here (bit.ly/3bKmkfO) they are much better and much stronger

It looks like the 2023 WTP envys will not be in stock until september, some of the lower quality WTP bikes are here already but not the 2023 yet. If you see one for sale online early, chances are its a pre-order. You can call around to local shops and see if they carry WTP, i know some of them do and they may be sitting on an envy.
